Chapter 21
<Shielyn>
The following day he sent me to the company as he used to do.
I was in the elevator when I heard employees talking about someone.
"You know, she's working in the bar! I saw her!"
My focus is on the number going up.
"I don't like her!"
"She's just silent, but she's hiding something. Now, her true colors show up."
Why are people wasting their time talking to someone?
"She's a gold digger!"
Why don't you care about your own life?
"And I have a story to tell you guys. I hear, you know, that blonde girl. Hmmm. Did thaT,”
Are you bored in your life, that you talked to other people living?
The elevator opened.
"But they broke up…."
I get out of the elevator.
"Hey, how are you?" Jake asked when he saw me.
I put my things on my table.
Life is just going around every day. Same routine and happenings. Why does my life seem boring? I feel like my life is just rotating between my work and house.
"Someone help me, and I never saw you on the road. I tried to find you. So, I guess Mr. Saltzman will help you? He asked me about you when he saw me on the road."
I don't have the energy to talk to him.
"Uhh, yeah."
I started my computer.
"Why did you leave me in the middle of the night? I was worried about you."
"I'm fine and still alive." I don't want to be rude, but how can you tell your colleague that you don't want to talk to him without telling him that you don't want to talk to him?
"My gosh! Mr. Yap is here!!" I heard giggles from the girls.
"Lily, lend me your lipstick and eyeliner. I need to fix myself."
"My crush is here!"
"Hey, that's my comb."
"What's happening?" Jake asked me, but I shrugged. I don't know, either.
"He is coming! He is coming!" They drool and rush too much.
There is someone who gets our attention.
"Ehem. Everyone, pay attention."
I turned around and saw a man figure standing at the entrance wearing corporate attire.
"Who is he?" Jake.
I guess the man is a bachelor.
"We will have team building!" The man announces.
Everyone makes their noises.
I just want to see my husband, and I'm feeling lazy.
"That's new," Jake.
Everyone looks excited.
"But the said event is not yet scheduled. I announce this for you to be ready."
"He's in the other department?" Jake keeps on asking questions that no one of the two of us can answer.
I rarely know employees here, but I know them by their faces.
"Sir. Will you come?" The woman said and couldn't stop her giggles.
"Of course," the man winked at her.
"Omo! He winks at me!... Girl! She winks at me," yeah, we saw that, but why need to repeat it?
"Sir, are you going to work here from now on?" I got my phone and texted my husband.
“Where are you?” I sent it.
"Hmm. Do you want me to work here, girls?" The man asked, playful
I guess the man in front of us is an active and fuck boy. That's it.
“At the company, Why? Miss me already, wife?” I read Ken’s reply.
"Yes, yes!"
"So we can have our inspiration and motivation to go to work, Sir!"
I want to go home.
"Sir, will you substitute your brother? Is that true?"
I looked at the woman who asked that question, and next, I looked at this man. Ahh, now I know. He is the brother of our boss. That's why he is familiar, but I never care about him. He's not handsome, and why do these women drool on him so much? My husband is much better looking compared to him.
I told you, why don't you work for our company, wife? You're the boss here, and you can do whatever you want.
I looked at my phone.
Kier has a message.
Does he not doing anything? I guess he's not doing work at the moment.
“Come here if you don't want to work,” Kier replied again.
Someone grabs my phone, and I look at that person.
"Using mobile gadgets while working hours is prohibited," He holds my phone.
"I'm sorry, Sir," I apologize.
"You're texting to someone, huh," He looks at the screen of my phone.
“I miss you,” He read the last text message. How dare he!
"Hmm. I miss you. What Should I reply to?"
What?
"Let me reply. I miss you too. I can't wait to see you, love. Go home early, okay? I love you." He's typing on my phone.
He's crazy. He's using my phone without my permission.
"Sir! That's not right? I didn't permit you to use it," I stated.
I heard everyone gossiping.
"And why, miss? I am your boss' brother, so I have the right," he smirked.
He's arrogant.
"Do you want me to fire you, huh?! You don't know who you are talking about!" He shouted at me.
I bow my head.
"Do you want to get suspended?!" He embarrassed me.
"I'm so sorry," I apologized again.
"Here's your cheap phone. Hmmph," my boss gave me my phone without any care. It fell on the floor.
"Serve you right!"
I picked up my phone, and the screen cracked.
"Hey, are you okay?" Jake approached me.
"He's an asshole!” Jake gritted his teeth in annoyance.
"She doesn't know how to respect our boss. What a bitch!"
Now, they're talking about me.
I'll just buy a new one if I get my salary in. I need to work hard again to be able to buy a brand-new phone. Maybe, I should buy a secondhand one if I can't afford a brand new one.
"She answered, my love, like that! She's just a loner and silent. I am right that she's just hiding her true colors."
They talked about me as if they knew me well. I wiped my tears.
"Everyone! Go back to work!" Jakes ordered. He's still the boss in this department, and he's in a higher position.
He gets my phone and looks at it carefully.
"That asshole! He must pay for this. It can't turn on," Jake said and tried to turn it on, but it won't work.
"It's okay, and I'll just buy a new one since this is an old model."
He gave my phone back to me.
"Yeah, right… I almost forgot. You're rich, huh? I know you're not applying for a promotion because you are freaking rich."
"I'm not rich."
He looks at me from head to toe.
"You're just simple. Yeah, you don't look rich. You are a rich woman who wants a simple life."
What is he saying?
“Look, sis. She's flirting at our boss."
"Sir, can I work now if you don't mind?"
Jake didn't mind me.
"You're rich, but your phone is an old model. You must put this in the trash and buy the latest one."
I can't afford the latest one. My salary is not enough.
What can you expect from an employee whose salary is just the minimum?
"Sir, how can I be rich if I'm just earning enough money."
"If you're not rich, how can you afford to live in that village? That's why you don't want me to send you home because you don't want me to know that you are filthy rich."
"Sir, Jake… hmm. I don't know what you are talking about."
"Hey, don't fool me. That village is the most expensive village that I know. The price of the house is so damn hot. I can't afford one even though I'll have ten businesses and a source of income. How does it feel to live with and surrounded by billionaires? Damn! Those living in the villages, their names are known worldwide," I didn't reply. He won't believe me no matter what I say. He will feel it in his guts and imagination.
"Did you already see the owner of google there? I heard he has one house in that village. Also, the owner of Instagram and so on."
How I wish his accusations against me were true.
He messes my hair.
"Don't worry, and your secrets are safe to me. Ms. Filthy rich," he smiled.
"Okay, I take a lot of your time. I have a meeting I need to attend,” Jake added.
I just smiled slightly. I didn't mind those women gossiping about me. Even though it hurts, they don't have any strong evidence for them to call me an attention seeker and a thief.
Their words stab my heart. I don't like someone talking badly about me.
Layla texted me to meet her in front of the company.
Just to know that we're attending a party.
I can't text Kier because my phone to broken. I don't want him to worry about me, like yesterday.
I went with Layla since she told me that it was a birthday party for her husband's friend. Who's that friend again? Layla has many different friends.
"Selena," as we went inside the house. I saw Mia, and she was with her husband, - Ethan.
This friend is their familiar friend.
She hugged me and kissed my cheeks.
"How are you? It's been a week since I haven't seen you. I miss you so much, best friend."
I hugged her too. I miss her so much.
We separated from the hug, and she hugged Layla.
Ethan just nodded at me. He's cold, colder than my husband.
"C'mon, let's sit!" Layla said excitedly.
"Where's Kier?" Ethan asked me.
I shrug.
"I do-don't know."
I want to go home there are a lot of people here.
"Hey, birthday boy!" I saw Layla kiss a tall and handsome man. She kissed him on the cheeks, okay.
"Hey, you came. Where's your cousin.?" The man asked and pulled a woman beside him. I can tell by his actions that she must be the wife.
"Err, do I know where he is? Do I wish him 24/7?" Layla asked while rolling her eyes.
