Chapter 37
“Claire!” I stop her from walking.
“Mister! I don’t know you! You are scaring me!” She shouted.
“Claire, this is me, Kenzo! The twin brother of your husband, Kienzo!” I desperately said.
“Let go of me!” She shouted.
“Help! Let go of me!” Claire shouted, and people around us were looking.
“Sir, excuse me. Is there any problem here?” A man approached us.
“Sir, help me. This man is calling me Claire Marie.” Claire said to that man who approached us.
“Sir, this is a misunderstanding. I’m sorry if I mistook her for someone.” I said to the man.
I let her go and didn’t try to talk to her.
Claire seems doesn’t seem to know me.
Even though she gain weight, I know she is Claire Marie. I can’t be wrong; I am always right. I’m always listening to my guts.
Claire Marie is still alive but can’t recognize me. This is something I need to find out.
If Kienzo doesn’t let me know about it, I’ll figure by myself.
–
“Sir, thank you for helping us; you are so kind and handsome.” A lady thanked Kienzo so many times.
“Please, accept these as our payment for helping us.”
A white-haired lady gave him a fresh banana she got from their backyard.
Kienzo accepts that, and he gives that to his secretary.
“Attorney, thank you so much; we owe you a lot.” She keeps on thanking him from the bottom of her heart.
He won their case.
He accepted their case, and they even gave them a discount on paying him.
“I have to go. I still have things needed to do.” Kiki said and looked at the teenage daughter of that old lady.
“Take care always, and don’t go out late at night if you don't have someone you’re with,” Kienzo advised the daughter.
The teenage woman's cheeks blush when Kiki talks to her.
It was late at night when this teenage woman went out and got snatched and about to get raped; she even got a knife stabbed near her heart because someone tried to rape her. That incident brings trauma to her.
“Yes, Attorney.” The teenager shyly thanked Kienzo.
Kienzo should remind his wife to take care and never go out at night.
The family bid goodbye to Kienzo.
The case is finally done and solved. Those bastards are already in jail.
-------
“Lorex, I don’t want this anymore; let go of me!.” I weakly beg him to let me off. We are already in the bar, and he has a wealthy friend.
Lorex was rich, but because of not using them well and being an addict, he had a lot of debts. We both had debts when we were in relationships.
Weltry helped me to pay for my debts while Lorex stayed as an addict.
“Shut up!” He holds my wrist tightly.
“Lorex!.”
The attorney never treats me like this, and he is not hurting me physically.
“Change life; it’s never too late, Lorex.”
I am trying to convince him. He has no future in this kind of addiction.
I looked at the whole place of this bar and saw a bunch of addicts having fun, including prostitute women.
“What are we really going to do here?.” I asked him.
Why did he bring me here with him?
“Help me to sell this white powder; we will earn a lot of money here. And try to refuse, or I will hurt you,” he warned me.
That friend he told me left us here.
“Are you stupid?! You want me to sell those?! And whom am I going to sell those?! I don’t wanna go in jail, Lorex.” My voice is trembling.
Have mercy on me; I will be a good woman in my next life, I swear.
I saw on another table that they are closing a deal. I had been in jail and didn’t want to experience it again.
“Lorex, I don’t want this.” I am terrified, and I am thinking about the attorney.
I don’t wanna be on earth anymore.
“You won’t be in jail,” he assures me.
“We won’t get in Jail, and I will take care of you.” He holds my hand.
“There is an organization that will protect us,” Lorex added.
What is this addicted man talking about? He is crazy. A crazy and addict Lorex.
“You’re not hundred percent sure about those.”
“Are you seeing this bar?” Lorex asked me.
I have eyes and am not blind.
I roamed my eyes again in this bar.
“Someone is behind this, and this is not part of the government. This bar is almost thirty years. This is a bar for doing illegal things. This is where it happens when it comes to drugs negotiating drugs.”
All people look rich, and they do not look like cheap addicts.
What did I love about an addict?
There were scary men with guns sitting at our table, and they had a big bag, and my eyes widened when I saw what was inside it.
They gave Lorex a considerable amount of money.
Lorex got that money, and he is happy to leave that bar.
“I’m going home,” I told him. He is holding the attache.
“Okay, let me send you off.” He let me ride in his car.
Like before, he stopped me far from the condo; Lorex let me because he already had a lot of money and got what he wanted. He is going to use drugs again tonight.
I touch my cheeks that have bruises.
I step backward when a fast car passes by me, and he almost hits me. He is so near and might bump on me, and I might get dead.
That driver is an asshole.
I am going home to my love.
I got home fast because I rode a taxi, and Lorex stopped me near the condo. That Lorex is an asshole, he has money and abandoned me just like that. Sometimes he was asking money from me when he had nothing.
“Where the hell have you been?!”
I jumped when the attorney welcomed me with a raised voice and a scary aura.
“You scared me.”
I place my right hand on my heart. I had just entered the condo, and Kiki asked me like that.
I kissed his left cheek.
“Sorry is, I just get him. Bolat and I overlooked the time; we had a great convo.” I reason and look away.
I can’t look at him; he might know I am lying.
He stares at me thoughtfully.
“I talk to Bolat, and you’re not with him.” He suspects me of something.
How did he meet Bolat? They haven’t talked in person.
“I have my ways to call your friend,” Kiki said. Maybe he noticed my reaction.
My heart beat fast.
“And what’s that? Why the hell do you have a bruise on your face?!”
I jumped again when he raised his voice.
Is he mad?
He pulled me and let me sit beside him. I am avoiding his gaze, but he catches my stare.
What should I reason?
“Claire.” He called my name in a warned tone.
“It’s already two am in the morning. What are you doing? Where did you go?” Kiki asked me suspiciously.
I look around again.
“Damn! Look at me!” Kiki warned me angrily.
He darkened his stares, and he clenched his jaw. He clenched his fist.
“Are y-you mad?” I stammered.
“I had been calling you many times, and you didn’t answer any of my calls. You even hide to Manong Rodger!” He angry said.
How am I going to tell him?
I don’t think any valid reason.
“Uh,, a while ago.” I feel nervous.
“I was applying for work. One more work, and I don’t know that I get lost.” I bit my lower lip.
“Do you think I’ll believe you?!” He evaded.
He is glaring at me, and he is clenching his fist. His veins in his neck showed up.
“Okay, okay! I got home late because it’s too far.”
He closed his eyes profoundly and messed with his hair.
“Why are you finding work?! I told you, don’t work!”
Why is he getting mad? In the morning, he was sweet on me.
“And look at your face! Do you think I’ll believe you?! Claire, it’s almost morning, and you have bruises on your cheeks! If you apply for a job, what are those in your cheeks?! huh?!”
I can't stop myself from crying.
“I am finding work because I need to pay you, I haven’t paid any cent, and I have a lot of debt.” I responded, frustrated.
I am so stressed about my debt.
“Damn it! You don’t need fucking pay me! I married you because I want!” he said, frustrated.
“Now, tell me. What happened? Why do you have bruises, huh?!” Kiki shouted.
He made me face him, and his expression was just the same. He is not calming yet.
I am crying because I can’t tell him about Lorex.
“Damn it, Claire!” He cursed.
This is my first to see him like this.
“Are you going to tell me, or I’ll find a way to know about it?” He challenged me.
“Damn it!” He added.
“Nothing! This is nothing, and because of my stupidity!” I yelled.
He took a deep breath, held my face, and looked at those bruises.
I move when he accidentally harms my arm wound and even curses more.
“From now on, I prohibited you from working.” He clenches his jaw.
He stood up and entered the CR, and when he got back, he was holding a box of first aid kits.
He undresses the jacket that I am wearing.
“I need money… I have a lot of debt to Weltry!” I became more depressed.
He looks at me, “don’t think about them. I’ll handle it.”
He gets cotton inputs betadine.
“but.”
“Claire,” he warned me.
“I need to pay, and I need to fix our annulment paper… if it’s not because of you, I won’t experience a peaceful
“Stop crying.” He said and set aside the cotton and wiped my tears.
