The end
“Laura!” Alex screamed her name in fear, but the cops who accompanied him didn't think twice to send bullets into Dexter's skin.
He finally caught up to her “no please, Laura, please stay with me.“ He begged, “someone please call an ambulance.“ He took off her shirt and placed it on her back, he put pressure on the gunshot wounds to stop the bleeding.
“Alex I'm tired, I want to go to sleep.“ She muttered in a faint voice.
“No don't sleep, keep your fucking eyes open Laura, if you die I'll never forgive you.“ He threatened.
“I love you, Alexander Quinn, I love you so much,” she coughed out blood, her bloody hands holding his cheek. “Take care of Kimberly, tell her I said I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise, I'm leaving her.“ She cried.
“Shut up Laura, shut up please,” Alex begged tears streaming down his cheeks. Laura's hand fell from his cheek leaving it cold and stained with her blood, her eyes voluntarily shut themselves.
“No, baby please,” he hugged her body and cried out loud.
……A few weeks later….
Everyone was dressed in black, Kimberly had tears in her eyes as she watched the body in the casket, and Alex just stared at the body unable to think.
“I'm sorry this had to happen to us, goodbye old friend, you will always remain in my heart no matter what.“ Alex muttered.
Dexter's body lay in the coffin, he looked like he was sleeping which indeed he was, he was in a never-ending sleep.
Laura held Alex's hand “rest in peace Dexter,” she mumbled.
“You shouldn't be walking Laura, your stitches are still fresh.“ Alex said sounding worried.
“I am fine.“ She smiled, Kimberly held her hand and looked at her.
“Thank you for keeping your promise mummy, thank you for not leaving me.“ she hugged her hands.
“I promised didn't I?“ she smiled at her.
Dexter's coffin was sent under the ground, he was sent to rest. “Let's take you back to the hospital my dear.“
The bullets Dexter sent into her skin didn't touch any vital organs, she survived death. “I've been there for weeks, I want to go back home, I miss our bed.“ She complained with a pout.
“Not just yet honey, we have to make sure you are completely fine.“ he kissed her forehead.
They entered the car where Massimo was waiting for them “I still don't get why you didn't attend the wake.“ Laura said looking at him.
“I don't do well with betrayals, I would have wished him a bad trip to the afterlife.“ He muttered.
“I know this is not the right place, but I can't wait.“ Alex said standing from his seat, they are currently in the hospital. “But it's the perfect place when your family is around you. I know we had a rough start, I know you didn't expect this, and I didn't either. I have been a jerk to you and I've caused you so much pain, I have put your life in danger countless times, but you didn't give up on me. You loved me even though I treated you badly from the beginning, will you make me the happiest man on earth by being my wife? Marry me?“
“Yes, a hundred times and more.“ She said in tears. Alex slipped the ring on her finger and kissed it.
“Yay mom and dad are getting married,” Kimberly jumped happily.
“Nervous?“ Massimo asked, it's the day, it's finally here, they are getting married.
“Yeah, I'm so nervous.“ She held her hands together,
“Calm down, your worries will fly away immediately you see his face, I have no experience in this, I can tell you a lot about guns and drugs,” he said trying to make her laugh which she did.
“Thank you, that helped a lot.“
He held out his hand and she took it, he is walking her down the aisle “come on, I'll hand you over.“ They went out, the bride was announced and everyone stood up,
She locked eyes with Alex and as Massimo said, all her nervousness flew out the window, she forgot about the presence of everyone and focused on the demigod in front of her.
Massimo handed her to Alex and left, “hi,” he muttered with a smile.
“Hi,” she responded.
“Nervous?“ He asked,
“Not anymore.“
“We are gathered here to bind these two in holy matrimony,” the priest started.
The wedding went out smoothly, Alex and Laura are finally married, and she is now Mrs. Laura Quinn.
“Thank you, Alex, for loving me, for accepting me.“ She hooked her hands on his neck.
“I should be saying that my darling, you are mine now, all mine till death do us part.“ He kissed her deeply.
Thank you guys for walking with me through this journey, I love you all deeply and I know you are not happy because the ending was rushed and the book is short but that was the idea, I wanted it short.
