Chapter 34 ENCOUNTER
NARRATIVE POINT OF VIEW
Lacking with modern equipment, Ezekiel instead yelled for command “Charge!” his deep voice echoed throughout the woods, alerting the rest of men on standby. Serving for the sake of capturing him, his obvious dedication to his bloodline showed. He leaped from a branch of atall tree and made it through without hurting himself. Perhaps the knee-high snow is more of a help rather than a burden.
He whistled, allowing his horse to fasten towards him. He got on, as he takes the lead of following him. “I will be the one to kill you, Lawrence Vatcherun”
His enemies carried guns made with wooden streaks deemed to be fatal against the vampires. Philip ran on the other side, doing his best to conceal of his presence. Ezekiel’s proposed plan seemed to be working despite the lack of practice. They had three hours utmost and in that time period, they needed to devise a strategy. Thankfully, everyone offered help. Enabling them to usher two hundred men in an airship leading to the last trail of an old railway. His assumptions were right. They faltered here. At the edge of Hizuru, next to Mt. Kaji and near the freezing bay of Himari Sea.
The militants fled from tree to tree expertly. Their combative skills are almost on a par except they move rather slowly. 20 men guards on ground, armed with guns whilst riding mountain horses. And the remaining squad along with Philip, stayed hidden, scattered around the woods.
“Ha!” Ezekiel yelled, not letting his sight wander off. His gaze is fixated on the man leaping above him whilst carrying a woman. With just enough range, he took his gun out. Aiming at his movements that have become rather slow, he pulled a shot that echoed amidst the tranquil air of the pine woods.
Lawrence managed to edge away from him, sneaking of to the side and avoiding the bullets being fired towards them. His movements have slowed, not because he’s grown weak, but because he had to. He just needs to find the perfect opportunity and reach the edge.
Agatha’s sob blared his sensitive ears. He cannot do anything but to feel guilty. He cupped her tighter, changing her position as he carries her in a hugging manner. He seemed careless, but he knew what he was doing. The enemies aren’t there to kill her. They’re there to save her, the future queen of Bridgeton.
Bearing the guilt of thy trouble, his world slowed down as the cunning man hiding behind a tree meets his eyes. Lawrence's eyes widened, baffled as to why he never felt his presence. He wanted to move fast, but it was too late as the man already fired, hitting him in his arms.
He furrowed his brows at the impact. The wood certainly pierced his veins. He glared, charging towards the man whilst taking his hand out. He pierced him across the heart using the sharp tusk atop of his hand, rendering the guy dead in an instant and making him fall from the 20-meter-high tree. He halted and not even a second later, another bullet pierced his arm, making him whimper. He eyed the direction and took charge. The promise he made himself earlier to not severe any of the mortals there has been broken because he's left with no choice. Agatha wrapped her arms around him tightly, leaning her face away she showed worry “You’ve been shot…” she said whilst shaking. She used her other arm to cover the blood, but he told her off “don’t worry about me…” he said, trying his best to come off strongly.
He passed a couple of men with ease, avoiding them was easy as he can sense their presence. But that has came to a halt when another one of the enemies appeared in a sudden. Sharing with the same branch he stepped in, he was met with a silver sword piercing through his side. Lawrence grits his teeth out of pain. “Ahhhh!” Agatha screamed, feeling the faltering presence of the sword inside him. She was worried sick, cupping her mouth at the fact that she can’t do anything.
Lawrence’s rage travelled across his eyes making Philip halt. He was about to pull the sword out, but quickly met his demise. He lost patience, Lawrence quickly held the sword, pulled it himself and pierced it through the heart of the man who started it. “you suck at aiming” he uttered, kicking the wide-eyed Reeves making him fall right under.
“n-noo…” Agatha wailed, seeing the blood gushing on the side of him. He chuckled as he began movement. “I’m a vampire Agatha, it’ll take more than that to end me”
His comforting tone didn’t even make her feel at ease. Her agitation grows each second. She didn’t even have a single clue of how they ended up in that situation with hundreds of men chasing after them as if their life depends on it. He eyed him with worry, but was quickly grappled as he saw a grin formed upon his lips.
'we’re here…' he said at the back of his head.
Ezekiel came to a halt upon seeing a familiar man stationed at a familiar tree falling slowly. He holds his horse, stopping midway enabling him to see who it was. “Philip…” he uttered, gulping the lump forming in his throat.
He pledged integrity to his duties, but seeing his close comrade dead certainly shocked him. He shook his head, eyeing the nearby cliff as he furrows his brows. Passing by the lifeless body of his brother, he rode the horse faster. “I’m going to kill you” He uttered as his eyes tear, bearing his world with fury.
