Chapter 12 Rain of Bullets
Arius Accordo’s Pov,
I don’t know how to feel. Should I be happy or mad at her; she kissed as I am the last hope of her existence melting in me like she became a part of my body, making it a treasured moment for both of us. The melodious voice of her thumping heart was the only thing I could experience besides that drugish feeling of kissing her. But she kissed after threatening the life of that worm. Why does she care about him so much? I felt betrayed when he kissed her cheek; I didn’t prefer anyone’s touch over her and that bastard dared to kiss her. I am so eager to kill that worm, but I can’t, as she is fond of him.
She acted strange this morning. She didn’t greet me with her dazzling smile as usual, but rolled her eyes at me in annoyance. I am quite used to witnessing her smile every day, but still she has to pay the price of rolling that captivating honey orb at me. I thought I would get one too, but she just ignored my presence. Even in the car, that pitch dark tunnel was more interesting than anything around her. I knew nothing about the meeting, so I decided to read and get something to know about the deal I was going to handle in an hour.
It wasn’t even a page I could read, and she started disturbing me. She was shaking my hand vigorously; calling my name took my attention to her, as she never called me by my name directly. She was terrified of something; her face turned white, draining blood from her face.
“Capo, Attack.” Enzo one of my elite fighters screamed from the front seat but as his voice about to die, Ben jerked the car left swiftly to avoid direct collision and our car gets hit by side of that truck making thunderous loud sound, all glasses of the car gets broken in a blink an eye and they were flying all across the car, few of them scrapped my arms drawing blood from it. Everything started spinning in a circular motion; it was very difficult to keep eyes open in that state. My head bumped a few times and my headache started, but it wasn’t so considerate.
Instinctively, I pulled Elena in my embrace to protect her from any severe damage and trapped her between me and the car seat but the impact was so powerful that the car toppled over the tunnel and came screeching the whole road at the edge of the tunnel. Petrified, Elena was screaming her lungs out, clutching my shirt tightly. I held her more tightly to make her feel more secure, but it wasn’t working. Finally, Car stopped at the corner of the road upside-down; we were resting on the roof of the car, outside of the tunnel in bright light. A sharp pain erupted in my back as a piece of metal got stuck in it; I had to get up before things got out of hand. Car was especially designed for such an accident, so; we were at least alive with minimum damages. Elena was lying on me, resting her head on my chest, holding me tightly.
“Elena? Elena? Are you ok?” I cupped her paled face in my hand and she opened her honey brown eyes filled with horror and nodded. I know she can’t handle this kind of thing. I have to finish this quickly.
“We are alright, Capo. Allow us to head first.” I was about to ask them, but Enzo spoke, asking permission. They were taking out guns from behind the seats.
“Go, I will join you soon.” I ordered, and they nodded and sneaked out as their doors cracked open from the car.
“Capo, backup isn’t long,” Ben informed while cocking his guns and hiding behind the edge of the tunnel. I already knew he was definitely going to attack, but not this quickly. It’s ok, death will always be waiting for them. I kicked the door of the car and crawled out with her over me. She was breathing heavily. I made her lean on the back of the car and checked for any injury to her, but nothing was serious, just minor scratches here and there, nothing else.
Suddenly, they started firing from everywhere and the loud sound of bullets was the only thing I could hear at that time. Elena started screaming with her hands on her ears, with tears rolling down. I saw Enzo and Ben start backfiring on them in no time and I turned to see panicked Elena, ignoring my back pain. I made her look at me, lifting her head from her stomach.
“Look here.” With tearful eyes, she looked up at me.
“bl-oo-d” she mumbled, difficulty with horrified expressions looking at my shirt as it left the red patch all over left shoulder and back.
“Just hold me tight and close your eyes until I say so.” She nodded timidly at me and hugged my waist tightly, hiding her face in my stomach. Good, not to explain a lot of things in this situation.
I pulled out my guns from my back and shielded her between me and the edge of the car facing opposite of them. Their firing started continuously, and I knew that just both of them couldn’t handle everything quickly. I saw they were just a few cars full of them, which means this attack wasn’t planned at all. Someone took a hasty step. I started backfiring on them as I couldn’t go in directly as she was with me. They were also shielded themselves with their car and firing, ducking behind it. I aimed three of them consecutively in anger, without missing anyone.
They started moving towards us, coming out behind the cars. On the other side, a car was also racing towards us from the tunnel full of his men. I aimed their tire and car it get crashed on the wall of tunnel, stupid kept the light on while passing tunnel. Then they were struggling to come out. Again, I aimed at the fuel tank and one bullet was enough for five of them. Elena hugged me tightly as she heard the sound of the explosion.
“Is it finished?” she asked while crying.
“Just two more minutes, snowflake.” I consoled her. She was flinching when every shot came out from my bullet, as she could hear its sound and held me tighter than before.
Ben screamed loudly as he got shot somewhere, and he couldn’t continue farther. It’s been long; Nicole must be on his track here. I have to cover him or he will die. A car screeched behind me, making me go into alter mode, but it was Nicole with few men. I lowered the gun, pointed at him, and turned to them again. He nodded at me, as I knew that he was taking over his position, and went to help Ben. Nicole brought him supporting his shoulders beside me and made him lean against the car; He got shot on leg and shoulder. I pulled Elena from the hug, making her look at me.
“Elena, sit here with him; I will come in a minute.” She was shaking her head violently and opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
“I promise.” I convinced her, but she wasn’t listening. She was scared too much.
“Capo, you go. I will protect her with my life.” Ben assured me and I left, nodding at him. Nicole went left as I took a right portion, walking towards them. We started the reign of hot bullets over them. I aimed every moving thing that my senses could detect. It didn’t require a lot of time for us to track down every one of them. I have been doing this since I was a teenager, so I am very used to their situation and battlefields. They are actually part of my daily schedule. I stopped firing as I sensed every movement stopped. Nicole indicated his side was clear and no movement. I shot one man who was trying to sneak away from me. Nicole went near the car and checked a few dead bodies and singled them out.
“You should look at this Arius.” Nicole stated, making me walk towards him. I went near the dead body he was looking at and turned it towards me. He was Beto, Davies Salvatore’s brother. Now, I get why they attacked so hastily. He is always working this carelessly. I turned and started walking towards her. She must be terrified of the situation. Blood was spilled everywhere in that region, covered with a blanket of hot bullet shells.
“Get a car, we are leaving now.” I ordered Nicole, and he nodded without a word. We were walking towards Elena and Ben and the sound of Elena’s scream increased my run towards her in horror. One of his men was pulling her by her hair and she was hitting him continuously with her delicate hands.
Baam, I aimed at him with no thought and he collapsed on the road with a thud sound. Elena just stood there looking at his dead body with shock without moving a bit or screaming. She just went silent. I took a step towards her, but she too fell down on the road beside him. What the hell?
“Elena?” Scared me, ran for her with all my capacity, took her in my arms.
“She is alright, Arius.” Nicole trailed off while picking his phone out from his pocket.
“She is paler than before, you bastard, and you think she is alright?” I yelled at him. She just fainted and on what basis does he think she is alright? How stressed her face looks, even her body temperature has dropped significantly.
“Who told you to pull a stunt in front of her? And shoot him in front of her.’’He criticized me, turning from me to calling someone. I just picked her up in my arms, resting her head over my chest and started walking towards Nicole’s car. Enzo opened the door for me; I sat and made her lay on the back of the seat.was she scared of seeing him dying? Maybe because isn’t used to seeing it.
