36. Alpha

Author's point of view:

Vera was still waiting for Dominic to return and finally, he walked inside the mansion with Liam, Vanessa and Kyle who just arrived in the state yesterday.

“Mr. Green eyes!" She squeaks and rushes to him, hugging him in the process. Dominic smiled and hugged her back leaving those that walked in with him dumbfounded.

Liam and Kyle have concluded that Dominic must be in love with Vera. Though it sounds surreal but that's the truth. Dominic had never treated anyone the way he treats Vera. Not even Vanessa had he treated the way he does with Vera.

Vanessa twisted her face in anger but quickly covered it up with a fake smile so that no one would suspect her anger towards Vera. She just hates this girl so much. She's slowly winning the heart of Dominic, if not that she had won it already.

“I made dinner, you all can take your seat!" Vera announced excitedly. She glanced at Vanessa who flashed her a smile. She still doesn't know if she can trust Vanessa but maybe she should give it a try because it looks like Vanessa actually wants them to be friends.

“Oh! I missed your cooking. I loved your food the last time I ate it," Kyle said, making Vera's smile widened. Liam agreed with him.

They took their seats while the food was served to them.

“Vera, your food is really good, I love it. I think you should teach me how to cook one of these days," Vanessa said, still faking a smile. She's doing all these so that Vera will trust her. If Vera trusts her completely, she will have a better chance to kill her and no one will suspect her because everyone will believe that she can't do something like that.

“Thank you," Vera appreciates with her bright sincere smile.

Throughout the meal, Vanessa was showing fake affection towards Vera. And the innocent Vera has completely fallen for her fake charm, she's slowly trusting her without knowing it.

Vanessa tried her best to hide her anger for good as Dominic placed all his attention towards Vera. He watches the way she eats and makes sure either water or juice is given to her whenever she tries to choke because the girl won't stop talking.

After the meal. Dominic and Vera returned to their room. Vera was first to return to the room. After taking her bath, she climbed the bed before Dominic returned. He also took his bath, put on his pants and also joined Vera in bed.

Vera snuggled close to him and hid herself in his arms. Dominic wraps his arms around her. He kissed her hair and took in her intoxicating scent.

“Mr. Green eyes," Vera calls.

“Hmmm," Dominic gently replied.

“My manager paid me my salary. It was bigger than my usual salary…. I mean so big, maybe twenty or thirty times bigger. I don't know why he did that. I thought that he would be angry that I was absent from work without permission and instead of coming to the hotel to clear myself, I only sent the message to terminate my contract. I now have a huge amount of money in my bank account so I'm thinking that maybe you should take back the debit card you gave me since I have enough money in my bank account now," Vera said.

She received her salary two days ago after Dominic had given her the debit card which contained a huge amount of money. The money she has in her custody now is too much and she doesn't know what to do with it.

Dominic smiled. He was actually the one that made the manager in the hotel where Vera used to work to pay her more than her actual salary. Besides, that's his hotel and his little bunny needs to be paid a good amount as her sent off salary.

“You don't need to worry about that. You can have all the money, it's yours."

“But it's too much, I don't even know what to do with all of them."

“Nothing is too much to give you." Dominic kisses her hair once again. She smiled and blush. Dominic is spoiling her a lot. She knows that Dominic won't take back the debit card no matter how she tries to persuade him. Maybe she should donate some of the money to charity.

Yes, that's what to do. There are lots of people out there that need money. She has it in abundance so she should share. She will have to discuss it with Nina. Her friend, Nina will definitely help her. She's giving out the money to charity and she will also give Nina some of the money to start her online business.

“Alpha," Vera suddenly called. Dominic was surprised. Vera looked up to stare at him with her boxing smile. “Your workers used to call you that. Since you don't want me to call you Mr. Green eyes, why don't I call you Alpha. That's more unique and I love the sound."

Dominic didn't know what to say. He's just staring at her with amazement in his eyes.

“What's Alpha ?" Her question broke into his thoughts.

“I will tell you later," he simply replied. This is not the right time to tell her of his real identity. She will have to be oblivious of it for now. But since he doesn't have any plans to leave her in the future, he will definitely tell her one day. He has already told his workers not to reveal their identity to Vera and of course, they dare not disobey him. Since Vera doesn't like wolves, he will find a better chance to tell her the truth about his identity.

Vera wanted to ask another question but Dominic cut her off by placing his forefinger on her lips. He doesn't want more questions from her. It might be another question that he can't answer.

“Little bunny, is time to sleep. No more questions."

Vera listened to him. She didn't speak further. She returned to her previous position of hiding her head in his chest and in no time, she slept off.

Vera's point of view:

I told Nina about the charity work. Nina was happy about that and more happy when I told her about the money I will give her for her online business.

I was preparing for my cooking class when my phone rang. I checked the caller.

Grandmother.

I bit my lips. I'm such a bad granddaughter. I haven't called grandma for weeks now. Well, I didn't call her because I know that she will cajole me to come home and I don't want to go to that house. My mother and my sisters will do nothing but ruin my happiness.

I took a deep breath and picked the call.

“Grandmother!" I call heartily. I love my grandma and I'm always free and happy when speaking with her. Just like my uncle too. But for my mother, I'm always clouded in fear. I don't even want to see her again. Since these past weeks that I haven't seen her and my sisters, I have known happiness.

“You bad granddaughter, how can you be so heartless? You have totally forgotten your grandmother," my grandma's voice jolts me up from my thoughts.

I laughed out loud. Grandma is not good at feigning anger. “Grandma, I'm so sorry. I really want to call you but I was afraid that you would ask me to come home, which I don't want to do."

There was a second silence before grandma spoke again with a very mild voice.

“Vera honey, this is your home and you can't run away from it. Because your mother and your siblings are assholes shouldn't make you run away from your home."

I was a little bit emotional a second ago but hearing grandma curse made me laugh once again.

“Grandma, you cursed."

This is my first time hearing grandma curse. Even I hardly cursed, not until Nina taught me. Nina curses a lot and I couldn't help but learn from her.

“Pardon me honey, I just couldn't take your mother and your sisters' attitudes any longer."

I just sigh. My grandma has always tried to speak to my mother and my sisters about the way they treat me but they won't listen. My mother wasn't like this in the past, it was after my father's death that she changed. She blamed me for killing her husband. She was somehow right but I was just an innocent child then.

And for my siblings, I believe that if my mother changes her attitude towards me, they will do the same. They are treating me badly because they see my mother doing the same. I just hope that things will change for the better one day.

Sometimes I wonder if my mother was the one that gave birth to me. I just need her love. That's all I'm asking for.

“Vera honey, it's Winfred's pre-wedding ceremony. You need to come home and join your family in celebrating with your sister."

“Grandma…. I…"

“Vera, don't say no. Please come home. If not for Winfred,

come home for me. I've missed you, my child."

How can I say no to grandma if she asks me with this tone.

“Okay grandma, I don't think I will make it to the wedding," I added.

“Until the wedding but promise you will come tomorrow."

“Yeah I will come. Love you."

“I love you too honey."

After the call with Grandma I finished dressing up. I went to my class and once classes were over. I and Nina went for charity work. Her aunt helped us with that. I felt happy to give those that doesn't have.
