38. The pre-wedding ceremony

Vera's point of view:

The pre-wedding ceremony is now over. All my family's members are all seated to have our meals as that's the tradition in the family.

Nathan, my ex boyfriend who is now Wendy's boyfriend, also came for the pre-wedding ceremony but left some minutes ago. He said he has some urgent issues to take care of.

I noticed how his eyes never left me throughout the ceremony and Wendy who saw it wasn't okay with it.

I don't know why Nathan was staring at me, was he regretting leaving me and choosing Wendy?

We didn't even talk. I do not want to talk to a scumbag like him. I haven't forgotten how he hurt me so much in the past. If the guilt I saw in his eyes was that he is now regretting what he did to me; well, I think he should go to hell. It's too late to regret.

My mother and Wendy haven't spoken to me since I arrived, they are only stealing glances at me. I can see the jealousy in Wendy's eyes. Well, Wendy hates it when someone tries to outshine her. And my mother, I can't seem to understand what's on her mind right now. Her eyes refused to give anything. Lyn and Winfred are the only ones trying to be friendly which I of course know the reason behind it.

Grandma had always loved me. She and my uncle but sadly my uncle didn't make it to the pre-wedding ceremony. Grandma said that he went out of town, it was an urgent matter that he couldn't ignore but he will definitely come back before the wedding.

It was some hours ago that Lyn revealed the shocking news to me or maybe not shocking, I was just surprised. Lyn said that my relationship with Alpha has circulated on the internet. Why was I not aware of that?

It was when she showed the picture which has been trending online and the hashtag that I got to understand what she meant by her words. The picture was taken from the day I went to the birthday party with Alpha. I never knew people would make such a thing public. I thought celebrities are the only ones being treated like that. Like they won't have their private space.

I actually blushed a little when I remembered how Alpha had introduced me to most people in the party as his girlfriend.

“So Vera tell us, how did you end up becoming the boyfriend of Dominic Rodriguez?" Winfred asked with curiosity shimmering in her eyes. She's sitting beside her husband to be.

I've only met Raymond once and this is my second time meeting him again. The first day I met him, he was actually nice and still nice. I also noticed that he's a quiet man. Like, a man of few words.

Before I could reply Winfred's question, Raymond excused himself to take the incoming call in his phone.

“At the hotel where I work," I simply replied. I don't intend to tell them the whole story.

“What! He comes to that hotel." Wendy seems shocked.

“Actually, it's a five star hotel." I know very well why she gave off that expression. Of course they love belittling me. She thought I was working maybe in a one star hotel. She never thought that I could work in a five star hotel.

“Since you are his girlfriend, that means you are now rich. I mean, you have three bodyguards with you and the car you came with is the latest edition. Since you are rich that means you will help me save my business…"

“Lyn!" My mother cuts in. Her tone sounds angry.

She probably doesn't want Lyn to let me know about the problem in her business. But when did Lyn start having problems in her business? It was a new business, she's still trying to grow and she's already having problems with it?

Even though my sisters are not good people and weren't treating me well, I will definitely help them when they need my help. I have a lot of money I could lend her some but at the look of things, it looks like my mother doesn't want it.

“Lyn, I told you that I will help you with the problem in your business so what's wrong with you right now?" Wendy feels irritated. Wendy is the worst among my sisters. Even if Lyn and Winfred show a little bit of affection to me, Wendy never does.

“You have been saying that for weeks now and yet you haven't done anything about it. I don't want my business to fall. I believe Vera could help me, I'm sure she has the money." Lyn turned towards me. “Please Vera, you need to help me. Five hundred thousand will be enough."

Lyn has never begged me in her life before. I felt touched, how can I say no to my little sis. I do not mind how she treated me in the past because I still love her, no matter what.

Wendy is boiling in anger, I can see it in her eyes. What's her problem? When will she let go of her ego? My mother's face is void of emotion.

“Stop it now Lyn!" My mother snapped. “I never raised you to beg."

“She didn't beg an outsider, she begged her sister. Her own flesh and blood," grandma said.

“Mum, Vera is our sister. Can we just stop this. You know you started all these mum but I think I'm tired of it. Our family needs help and it looks like Vera could render it to us, so what's the problem here," Winfred said and put her attention towards me. “Vera, I'm sorry how we treated you in the past. You are our sister. I miss the old days when we were happy. I just don't know what happened to us…." She took a deep sad breath. “Don't think that I'm asking for forgiveness because you are rich now. I'm sincere with my words."

“Me too Vera, I'm sorry. I treated you badly. You are my elder sister but I never gave you the respect," Lyn chipped in.

Tears had already circled in my eyes. Am I dreaming or what? My sisters are asking for my forgiveness. I never wanted to come to this ceremony but I think coming here was the best decision I have ever made. I'm thankful to Grandma for making me come here today.

But what happened? What made my sisters suddenly change?

“I talked to them, Vera. I always do but they never listen. I'm glad they finally listened," grandma said.

I smiled teary. I can't thank grandma enough. The only thing I want is the love of my complete family.

“I've forgiven you both. You are my sisters and I love you both a lot," I said.

“Thank you Vera." They stood up and walked up to me while we hugged ourselves.

After the emotional hug, I stare at my mother and Wendy. They weren't looking at me. Do they still hate me?

“I think I've lost my appetite." My mother stood up and walked away.

“Linda, what's wrong with you?" My grandma mutters.

Tears fell down my cheeks. Why does my mother hate me so much?

She was the one that turned my sisters against me but I'm happy they have changed. Well, except for Wendy.

“You know that I'm not the type to act all emotional. You are my junior sister Vera. I can't hate you," Wendy sarcastically said and walked away.

I smile. Wendy is unbelievable!

After spending time with Lyn, Winfred and grandma. I left with a bountiful amount of happiness in my heart. I have never been this happy after visiting my family house. Before I left, I sent some money to Lyn and she was happy.

When I returned home. I took my bath and had no need to have dinner. My belly is full already.

I put on my night robe and climb into bed. I called Nina and told her everything that happened. Nina was happy but she said that the sudden change of my sisters seems suspicious but I believe it isn't. I sincerely feel that they changed for good and I'm so happy about that. Not long after ending my call with Nina, Alpha returned.

I climbed down the bed and hugged him. I'm so happy about today.

He kissed me gently on the lips. I giggled

“You look happy. How was the pre-wedding ceremony? Did it go well?" He asked.

I nodded and replied. “It was fantastic."

“Do you mind sharing with me?"

I nodded once again and narrated everything to him. Emitting some parts, such as when my sisters showed me the news that was trending online. Nina even mentioned it during our call and she wouldn't stop giggling over it.

“So that means that your sisters have changed?"

“Yes," I replied jollily.

“I love seeing you happy." He placed another kiss on my lips. I smiled and blushed.

Suddenly he started trailing the kisses down to my neck, I released a soft moan. My eyes flew open when he slid his finger into my pantie. I shiver a bit.

“You are wet," he whispered sexily. “It's driving me crazy."

I smiled shyly, my body on fire at his touch.
