THE LETTER
-SAGE-
" So what happened after that?"
" Nothing, I came back to my room." I mumble, rolling on the bed.
" I think that bastard has a trick up his sleeve. Jared Martinez wouldn't be so polite unless it is something that benefits him." Hades mutters.
I find myself nodding at his words. Father's behavior really seemed odd, or maybe it was normal but I found it odd because of how he treated me all this while.
" So what are you doing?" I ask, changing the topic.
Hades chuckles, his deep chuckles sounded so sexy that I gripped my phone tightly, cherishing it.
" Rejecting a peace treaty." his voice seemed so proud that for a moment I thought I have heard him wrong.
" Rejecting a peace treaty? Why would you reject it?" I leaned against the headboard, hearing him groan.
" Because I don't like peace, peace is for stupid people. I can't believe those dummies thought I'll agree to it." I giggle at his words, I can already imagine him rolling his eyes.
" So why do they want peace with you?" I ask as he laughs wickedly.
" So I don't kill them." he chuckles.
" And why would you kill them?"
" So there is chaos all around and no peace at all." he says, happily.
I gasp suddenly, hearing a scream from the other side.
" Hades! Are you fine?" I sat up, gripping the phone tightly.
Anxiety kept creeping up my veins when Hades chuckled.
" Yes, baby. It's someone else." he says as I let out a sigh of relief.
I'm being paranoid but I can't help myself. I can't even think how I'm going to survive this if something happens to Hades. I might go crazy if something happens to him.
" Hey Leo, shut him up. My girl doesn't like him screaming." Hades says when the same person screams again.
" Oh man, I told you to cut his fingers off not his toes and YOU SPOILED MY RUG. That rug cost more than all the organs in your entire body, I my favorite rug. I'm gonna kill all of you now. Hey sweetcheeks, I'll call you later. Where is my gun?" Screams and crashes sound before I cut the call, giggling at the chaos my fiance was in right now.
Throwing the phone on the bed, I giggle remembering his words over and over again.
" Hey." I gasp, looking at Elliot who was standing the door smiling at me.
" Hi." I smile, sitting up.
He walks in, sitting on the bed beside me before he brushes away a few strands of hair from my face.
" Someone is happy." he wiggles his eyebrows.
" Leo spoiled Hades' expensive rug and now Hades is on a mission to kill all of them." I giggle as he chuckles too.
" It feels good to see you smile and laugh like old times." he whispers, shrugging at his words.
" I wish I could go back to the old times too." I whisper, placing my head on his lap.
Elliot's fingers run through my hair as he hums in response.
" You still love him, don't you?" he asks as I stiffen.
" Who?" I play dumb, hoping he doesn't press the matter more.
" You don't love Hades, Sage. You can't lie to me, I know your heart still beats for Enrique." he whispers.
" What am I supposed to do, Elliot? I've loved him my entire life, I can't just turn all those emotions off. My brain knows he is a bad idea and I'm never going back to Enrique but the heart also has its own desires." I felt tears sliding down from my cheeks onto his jeans as I cried bitterly.
" I know what you're feeling, babe. Why did you confess to Hades then?" he asks.
" Who told you that?" I ask, looking up at him as he smiles.
" A little birdy told me." he shrugs.
" I felt like a bitch. Hades loves me, he cares for me, he kept confessing his love for me but I was silent all the time and I knew it was hurting him. I couldn't bear the pain in his eyes each time he said he loved me and I didn't reply back so I did. And I'm sure, I'll fall for him in a few months. After our marriage, we will move to the other side of the world and I won't have to see Enrique anymore and then. . . then I'll fall in love with Hades. I-"
" Okay, that's enough. Breathe. Yeah, in and out." Elliot's grip tightens on me as I took deep breathes to calm myself down.
I kept on ranting so bad that I forgot to breathe, I was nervous about this. My mind is a wreck and so is my heart.
" Enrique and Sabrina aren't getting married anymore. Sabrina isn't pregnant, she lied to chase you away from Enrique but Enrique found out just now and after alot of screaming and beating each other up, our family called their wedding off."
" Really?" I shot up from the bed, looking at Elliot with wide eyes.
" Yeah, a lot of things can be changed if you want. Enrique and Sabrina aren't together anymore so things can work out between you and him if you want." Elliot shrugs.
" No." I whisper, leaning against him as he wraps his arms around my waist, pulling my body close to his.
" My heart does crave for Enrique but my brain hasn't stopped working yet. Enrique isn't the same man I fall in love with, he is selfish and stubborn now, he isn't someone I would've fallen for. Plus, Hades Romano is really sexy." I wink at Elliot as he laughs, tickling my tummy.
I giggle thrashing in his hold as he continues to tickle me.
" Oh wait, wait." I gasp, crawling out of his hold.
" Elliot, do you love me? Like love me romantically?" I whisper, looking at his warm eyes.
" Who told you this now?" he shrieks.
" A little birdy." I smirk at him.
" I'm gonna hunt that birdy and no, I don't love you." he rolls his eyes.
" Are you sure? Elliot, you don't have to lie to me. I promise I won't judge you for whatever your answer is." I whisper, cupping his face when he bursts out laughing.
" Sage, I'll sell you to any random dude on the street for a sip of water." he rolls his eyes.
" There is a blur line between love and friendship. Crossing that line is dangerous and really risky, you might get a friend and soulmate in the same person or you'll lose your love and friendship both. And I won't do anything risky for you. Have you even looked at yourself in the mirror?" he glares at me.
I growl, punching his tummy before pushing him down on the bed.
" I'm pretty, Hades says so." I smile proudly.
" Hades needs glasses." Elliot bursts out laughing.
" Oh, shut up." I grumble, falling on the bed beside him.
Elliot wraps his arm around my waist, pulling my body close to him until I could feel the warmth of his body against mine.
" Are you crying?" I ask, looking the tears escaping his eyes.
" No bitch, my eyes are leaking." he snaps.
" Why are they leaking? Wait, I have glue to stop it." i giggle when he pinches my nose.
" Seriously, why are you crying?"
" Because you thought I would be in love with someone as ugly as you. Imagine this news leaking out, it'll damage my reputation." he shrieks dramatically.
" Elliot." I giggle, pulling his hair with all my might.
Elliot begins screaming but I didnt let go so he also began pulling mine.
" Excuse me?"
I looked up at my father, Sabrina and Enrique standing at the door. Elliot and I sat up, looking at them nervously as they walked in.
" How are you, Sage?" father asks.
" Good." I shrug.
" The maid told me that you got a nightmare today." he whispers, sitting on the bed beside me.
" Yeah, I thought to take a nap when I came back but I . . ." I trail off, feeling the nightmare flash into my mind .
" What was the nightmare about?" Father looks at me, sympathy on his face.
" Monsters." I whisper, looking at him with tears pooled into my eyes.
" Like cyclops ?" Elliot asks.
" No, those monsters." I shudder, not wanting to elaborate more.
" Which monsters?" Sabrina asks.
" Can we not talk about this?" I growl, looking at her annoyingly.
Her eyes were bloodshot and puffy, she was sad but I couldn't help myself from snapping at them.
" Stop yelling at me." She screams.
" Enough, Sabrina. Why are you pressing on something she doesn't want to talk about?" Father scolds her as she falls quiet.
" Sage, I'm going to tell you something but you have to promise me that you will control yourself. I don't want you to get sick or get a seizure right now." Father whispers, placing his hand on my head, caressing my hair gently.
" I want to marry, Hades, please." I sob, holding his hand tightly.
I didn't want to lose the only man who loved me after so many flaws of mine.
" It's not about him, child." Dad whispers.
" Okay, promise." I whisper, peeking up at Enrique.
My father placed a piece of paper on my lap, looking up at me sadly.
" There's a letter for you. From . . . Sean."
Immediately, I felt a punch in my chest by that name. I shuddered, gripping the bedsheet under me tightly as my eyes fell on the letter again.
" I thought he was in prison." Elliot growled.
" Who is this Sean?" Enrique questioned.
" He is one of her rapists but he is in prison now." Sabrina mumbles casually as I cringed.
" Do you want to read it or should I throw it?" Father questions, looking at me concerned.
With trembling hands, I picked up the paper, unfolding it slowly. Taking a deep breathe, I begged myself to focus on the letters scribbled on the white paper.
[ My darling princess,
Missed me? I know I did. The rooms of this jail are really dark but not dark enough to erase our memories. Those beautiful memories you and I have created together will forever be in my heart.
Heard you're getting married, huh. Oh, princess, how sweet will it be to ravish you in a wedding dress again. My cock is painfully hard at even the thought of it. I can't wait to pound into your tight little cunt until you're begging me to stop.
Have I told you that, you look so pretty when you cry? I love seeing tears pooled up into those big green eyes as I destroy your soft folds. I can't wait to fuck you until you're crying for mercy, not that I'm going to show you any. I know you like it when I'm rough. Your pu— ]
" SAGE." I heard someone scream as my body suddenly loosened up. I fell back on the bed, my eyes barely open, my lungs denying to work.
The only thing I could hear was the familiar loud ringing in my ears and my own unsuccessful attempts to breathe.
" Sage, breathe. Breathe, baby please." Someone screamed, shaking me repeatedly.
I gasped, sucking in air greedily. It felt like I was crying tears of lava, my head felt like wrapped around a string of thorns because of how bad it began hurting.
" Call Hades." Someone screamed.
No! Not Hades. I can't be a burden on him. I tried to speak, to stop them from troubling him but something inside me kept my throat locked up. My limbs felt like jelly, my heart hammering against my chest so bad that I was scared it might rip out of my flesh.
I can't do this anymore . . .
