William Hague
Imaani
TODAY IS AN EXTREMELY BUSY DAY for me. I'm pretty sure I'm doing a really good job of using work to distract myself from all other things.
Like the contract in my bag.
But today is all about work. thinking about Jax or anything related to hi-
"Hey, Imaani may I have a word?" Micheal leaned his head in to ask me
So much for nothing related to Jax huh
I made my way into Michael's office after I heard him telling me to enter
"You wanted to see me, sir?"
"Sir? Seriously Imaani we're friends"
"We are? I asked,
"Well you're friends with my best friend so I assume that makes us friends, or acquaintances... I dunno"
"Sure. But you're still my boss before all that"
"Temporary boss. Have a seat"
Does he know about the contract with Jax and me? What the fuck am I saying, of course, he knows they're best friends
"You know don't you?" I dunno why I asked, I guess a part of me needed to be sure
"Know what?" He asked while flipping through the pages of a document. Making sure to avoid eye contact with me
"You don't need to pretend, like you said he's your best friend. So I'm sure you know"
"I never said I didn't know anything, Imaani, I asked know what? I wanted you to be specific" he replied with a smirk
"The contract and what happened between us"
God, I hate myself
"Yes. I know about the contract and what happened between you guys."
Fuck me!
"I just want you to know that what happened between Mr Smith and I was a one-time thing and I have no intention of signing the contract with him, I'm not that kind of e-"
Micheal released a laugh "Imaani, calm down. Whatever happened between both of you is your business, not mine and you're a grown woman you're free to do what you want. I don't judge"
Well damn...
"Okay." Was all I could utter
"Good. Now, for the main reason I called you, I'm hiring someone for the open position of technology officer. I'm sure you've heard that Jax let the other one go"
"Really, why? Sorry I don't know a lot of people here just Sarah"
"No need to apologise I understand. Numerous female employees complained about him and his indecent behaviour towards them"
Well, one thing I know about this company is the strict rules they adhere to.
"Oh okay, so who's the new guy? Is he here already"
"Yeah, he should be in the waiting area."
"You haven't told me the exact reason for calling me and telling me about him"
Lord, I can't take any kid under my wing at work I've got a lot on my plate right now.
Interning jobs are the worst
I closed my eyes halfway as I let out a silent prayer. I'm not ready to be showing any intern the work of his job. I've heard stories of people who worked with interns and let me tell you something, not all of them are good.
I don't want that...
"He's going to be working alongside you, your job and his are going to collide a lot so both of you might as well start somewhere. All good?"
Fuck!!
"Yes sir, all good" I forced a smile
"Alright I'll call him in now," he said and placed a call to the lady in the waiting area
The door opened and I could hear footsteps coming towards the desk where Micheal and I sat.
"Mr Hague welcome, please have a seat." They shook hands as the strange man took the seat beside me
"Thank you, please, call me William." His voice sounded smoky and sexually attractive in a slightly mysterious way.
I turned to look at him so I could introduce myself but he beat me to it
"William Hague," he said with outstretched hands towards me
"Imaani Cyrus, nice to meet you" I took his hands in mine
"The pleasure is mine" he flashed his pearly whites at me and I couldn't help but smile back
"I was just telling Imaani here how both of you will be working together closely when you resume. Imaani can you please show Mr Hague to his office and update him on the rest of what we talked about?"
"Sure, come with me. Good day Mr Ev," - he stared at me "Micheal," I said between laughs
"Have a nice day Mr Hague," Micheal called out as I walked out of the door with William behind me
"Thank you" he replied before leaving and going after Imaani
I gave him the rundown of his job while he listened quietly without interrupting, at a point a thought he wasn't paying attention. He was only quiet when I was talking.
When I was done I silently regretted why I had judged him before meeting him. I even called him a kid.
"So here's your office, the boss had everything moved in before your arrival. If you need anything just let Grace know, she'll know how to direct you. Any questions?"
"Where's your office?"
I chuckled "Not the question I was expecting, but okay. It's three doors from yours" I replied and I pointed in the direction of my office
"Thank you" he smiled again
Well damn it's like he knew his smile was contagious
"Any other work-related questions?"
He laughed at my hint "No that will be all"
"Okay then, welcome to Dell Incorporated Mr Hague" I stretched my hand out to shake his
"Thank you and please, call me William"
"Okay, William. Don't hesitate to come to my office if you have questions, I hope you like it here"
"Something tells me I will" the look he gave me after what he said felt like he was flirting with me, I ignored it and walked to my office
He was something else. I just could not place my finger on... yet.
He had this strange vibe around him.
But I plan not to head down that road, not now not ever.
