"WELL GOOD THING YOU'VE GOT this date, I've been wanting to go shopping for a while now," Sarah said as we strolled down each aisle of the store we were currently in.

"Good thing you know I'd eat you alive if you went without me, date or not."

The only reason we're only going shopping is that William invited me for dinner at his place, he finally fixed a date for when he cooks me dinner.

And like the lazy woman, I am I don't have any clothes suitable for dinner so here I am with Sarah scouring every aisle in this store for a dress and some other few things.

"Wait a minute, what do you even mean by you don't have any clothes, what about all those in your wardrobes"

she's right

"I know, I just don't have any I think is suitable for this dinner" I replied as I run my fingers through the clothes on the rack checking them out.

"What does Jax think about your dinner date?"

"What do you mean?"

"Does he know about you and William?"

"First off, there's no I and William, we're just two co-workers hanging out and having dinner together"

"Okay" she deadpanned with her hands raised in surrender

"And secondly Jax and I are not official, it's just sex with no feelings at all," I said the last bit with my gaze down avoiding her eyes

"You're living the life huh? I still can't wrap my head around why you don't want to date. You're everything in a woman"

"Well I just haven't found anyone that wants to date me yet and I guess I'm not ready too, I dunno girl. what about this dress" I draw her attention to a very random dress that I didn't even check out just so we could stop talking about this for now.

It's been two weeks since the whole contract thing has been going on with Jax and me. Right now it just looks like that's all it's going to be and to be honest I have no idea how I feel about it. Sarah thinks we can talk about if there is an us beyond just the sexual attraction since we're both adults.

I don't think I'm ready for that type of heartbreak yet, this is a man I've had a crush on for the longest time without even meeting him, only to meet him and be sexually attracted to him also.

we've been hanging out for two weeks or rather fucking and I've not seen him mention any other women in his life or even talk to any on the phone while I'm there.

I just know if he's capable of doing this whole thing without any feelings involved, then why can't I?

I get cut off by my buzzing phone I grab it and place it on my ear

"Please don't tell me you burnt the food already" I let out a chuckle

"I assure you, love, I can satisfy you sexually and also satisfy your stomach. who did you think you were speaking to?"

I scold myself mentally for not checking the ID and just assuming it was William "Sorry I thought you were someone else. Why are you calling? I thought you were busy today"

"Not anymore, I want to take you out to dinner"

"Just Sex? And now you're wining and dining? I thought it was just sex.

I could almost hear the smirk "Who said it's still not just sex?" besides I have ideas for a lot of sexual things that can happen while we eat" he released so calmly "we can still have sex together while we also eat good food too"

"Damn, too bad I've got plans for tonight though"

"Cancel them" he replied shortly as if he was telling me there was no space for argument

I can be stubborn too "Can't"

"What do you mean, can't?"

"it means I can't cancel my plans for tonight just because you called"

"What are you doing right now?"

I look around thinking I can play it off and lie "I'm walking home, just finished getting coffee"

Fuck me!

I have no idea why I lied

"Hmm," he hummed out Imaani y-"

I notice Sarah coming towards me with two dresses about to say something before I place a finger on my lips to shush her "Hey I gotta go, need to find my keys!" I end the call quickly.

My hands instinctively go to my beating chest as if I just finished running a hundred-meter race when all I did was lie.

"Your keys? who was that?" Sarah asked as we made our way to the changing area

"Jax. He called to invite me out to dinner"

"I thought it was just sex?"

"That's what I asked, but he said it still is, dinner doesn't change that"

"Girl this man sounds like he has paper boats in place of a heart. he doesn't catch feelings?" Sarah asked sounding genuinely shocked

"I have no idea, It's just a contract I don't expect him to, and I don't plan on falling more than I did. The contract was for sex not for marriage" I reply trying to laugh it off and forget all about Jax and his non-existent heart.

My eyes went to my phone when I realize I received a text message from William

"I just want to make sure you don't have any allergies, I would have called but I don't want to interrupt your shopping with Sarah"

I smile at the thoughtfulness as I start to text him.

"Thank you, and no I have no allergies, thank you for asking."

"Okay. See you later x"

I brush it off and walk to the cashier's place where Sarah was so we could pay. I only came here for a few things now look at me leaving with 6 bags and that is mostly because of Sarah. who seemed to think I need more lingerie because I now have a very active sex life.

bullshit.

When Sarah and I got to her place I contemplated taking a short nap before I decide to start getting ready to leave for William's place, luckily Sarah's place was a lot closer that's why we came here and mostly because she makes some bomb ass food and they're even tasty with the right amount spice.

"You gonna shower, I'll serve our food," Sarah said as she made her way to the kitchen.

"Okay sure, thanks." I make my way to the extra room I stay in sometimes and prepare there.

I decided to try something new with my hair and work on it first because it usually takes up much time for me before I finally decide if I'm going to be using any makeup.

I'm not against makeup but I'm not a huge fan of it either most times I prefer to just apply gloss and fix my hair instead of all the baking, and I'll be set.

I make my way to the kitchen after finishing my hair to perfection the way I like. I Put on a big t-shirt and go to meet Sarah so we could eat.

"Imaani, you look fucking amazing" I blush at her compliment as I take a seat on the couch

"You know I love you right Sarah?"

she rolled her eyes "What do you want?" She immediately asked sniffing out my tactic

I talked between laughs "What the fuck is that supposed to mean? I only show my love when I need something?" I ask chuckling as I made my way to the kitchen to drop my plate.

"No, you show it and make it obvious"

"Yeah right, but Please I need you to drop me off at William's place I told him I'd come over myself. Which makes you my designated driver" I replied laughing

"Sure, he can drop you off yeah or should I come to pick you up?"

"I dunno yet but I'll let you know babes, I need to dress up. Come help me pick my dress" I led her to the guest room where I already had three out of all the dresses laid on the bed

"This one is good, what do you think?" She raised the silver body con dress to her body

" I was contemplating that too but changed my mind but I think I'd wear it, I like it too"

"Alright then, do you need help with your make-up?" She asked standing in front of the door

"No thank you, I only intend on doing something light" I reply as I take off my shirt to wear the dress

"I'll be waiting".

I wear the dress and apply all the necessary makeup on my face, before selecting my shoes.

I had no plan on going overboard or being mid even though we were dating at his place. all William said was "wear whatever you're comfortable in, you'd look good anyways"

I tried not to swoon.

"Damn girl, Perfect" Sarah exclaimed kissing the tip of her fingers

I always look forward to her compliments whenever I dress up to go out.

"Mi'lady" Sarah bowed as she opened the car door for me to get in

"Why thank you, kind miss. Chivalry ain't dead" I laugh as I settle into my seat

"Damn yes it isn't!" She laughed as she ran to the other side and got in "Never lower your standards he should always open the door for you because you're an amazing black queen who doesn't need to settle for less. And if he doesn't, then kick him to the curb because who needs a man anyways? Besides, if he doesn't, as your best friend I will." She lets all that out as if she did not just intentionally make me swoon and almost cry, but I can't. I don't wanna ruin this mascara before I even get to my destination.

I ignore the voice from the map in the car pointing out directions as I face her "You're gonna make me cry" I pout

"Don't you dare" she let out without even looking at me

I always knew if Sarah decides to get into a relationship whoever she ended up with he or she has hit the jackpot.

Yes I know Sarah swung both ways even though she doesn't like to label her sexuality, the fact being that she feels it's not the most interesting part about her and she doesn't want to be defined by one word. I love her and support her choices, whatever or whenever she chooses to do what she wants it doesn't change shit about our relationship.

"This shit is for life" I unknowingly let out but I smile and face her when I realize what I did

She parked the car in front of the right address and looked at me "Us? then yeah we're definitely for life babe, you're not getting rid of me that easily. Now go get your hunk" She laughed as she stepped down and came around to get my door

"Thank you" I let out with a wide smile as I step out of the car carefully and make my way to the gate after I waved Sarah goodbye.

I texted William when we were close by and I need a code to enter his place which he texted me before my arrival. I showed it to security and they let me in

Damn.

The house is a freaking mansion!

What the fuck does this man do other than work at Dell. I know the pay is huge but it sure as hell didn't get this.

I make my way in and wait for the butler to lead me to where William was, he even got a freaking butler well Damn!

"Hey, gorgeous," William said as he walked out of a room dressed in black pants and a buttoned shirt. he cleaned up real nice out of work too

"Hey, how are you? am I late?"

I laugh at the question in my head, duh you're black of course you are

"Not at all you're just on time"

William leads me to the dining room, if I thought the place I waited in was huge then this dining area beats it because what the hell!

The place is gigantic!

William led me past the dining table and I'm sure he could see the confusion on my face before we finally came to a space not so far from the huge dining table.

"I had a much more sizeable table brought in, I didn't want you to feel uncomfortable at the other one since it's just us two, sorry I'm rambling aren't I?" He asked and let out a nervous chuckle as he scratched the back of his neck

I laughed quietly and decided to tease him " Nah, it's alright. you're kinda cute" I smiled and watched as his face morphed into one of mild shock

"cute? I'm a grown man and all you say is I'm cute, Damn."

I laughed lightly and watched as someone brought in the food and arranged it on the table for us

"Thank you," I say before she walks back into where she came from

"So you made all these?" I ask as I look at the food laid out in front of me

"Yeah, what do you think? I'm sorry I didn't ask what you might like I just took a wild guess after you said you had no allergies" he replied nervously as he stared at me

I have no idea why that made me smile.

"This is lovely thank you, but I gotta taste it first and I promise to be honest". I say half-jokingly

"Sure. Can I?" He asked if he could pour my drink, I nod yes and he goes ahead before I dish my food and we start eating.

"Oh, wow" I exclaim lowly as I take a piece of my chicken "Mmm wow this is so good and the chicken is so tasty

"Thank you," He said with a smug smile as he rests his back on the chair

"But you knew that didn't you?" I ask when I realize

"I cook a lot gorgeous, I know my food is good" he replied

"Well now I feel useless" I joke

"I wanted to hear your opinion though, it mattered to me so you're not useless" he smiled at me before he took a bite from his food

I smile and try to avoid his gaze for the rest of the duration of the dinner.

We finish up our food and after a little argument, I won and William finally agreed with my point.

I don't even remember any more because this man fed me like a goat being prepared for slaughter.

"Would you like a tour of the house, before I completely beat you in a game of Fortnite"

"Oh, you wish! I'd like the tour by the way" He nods as I walk beside him for the tour "I do-" I get cut off by my ringing phone knowing damn well it's probably Sarah or even my dad calling.

Jax?

"I'm so sorry I need to take this" I excuse myself and move away

"Hello?"

"I-Imaani Can you come...over, Im at the hotel i-I need y-you," he said over the phone he sounded frantic

"Jax what happened?!" I almost yell after I heard the tone.

beep.

What the fuck! I try calling back but he's not answering and I immediately panic.

"Hey, is everything all right? sounded like you yelled a little"

"I uh, I need to leave. I'm so sorry but it's urgent and I think something is wrong with a friend of mine" I rush out as I instinctively start ordering a ride

"Okay just breathe, you're shaking a little. I'll drop you off just tell me the address, Okay?" He said slowly

"It's okay I already placed a ride it's gonna be here soon"

"I can't let you go out like this, I'm dropping you off that's the end of this discussion. I'll go grab my keys"

"Serious-" he walked off with big strides upstairs without even stopping to listen to my protest

My phone beeped with a notification that my ride was here, I used that as my opportunity knowing I'll probably feel bad later for leaving without a goodbye or rejecting his offer to drop me off, but I couldn't wait.

I type out my apology and send it to him as I make my way to my ride waiting outside.

I Quickly share my location with Sarah, an agreement we made with each other no matter where the other is or was going, we always share

Immediately the uber driver stopped in front of Jax's hotel I didn't stop to say much to the security and I noticed they didn't bother to stop me. I didn't think much of it my main focus was on getting to the room.

Immediately after the elevator arrived, I stepped out and walked to his door. I opened the door as fast as I could and walked in, almost tripping myself.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me!"
