[Coby]
Coby watched Kaden through his peripheral view. Kaden's eyes followed the young woman until she disappeared into the building entrance. Coby knew enough how bad the tension between Him and her was. Although they never spoke. Never met officially.
He knew Kaden wasn't a man of jokes. So him watching them from the sides was all he could do. He wished She was more friendly. But she was the youngest girl there among others, Only 20. He understood her condition, she was more scared than comfortable in the new environment.
"Where 's your car tho?" Coby asked glancing once at Kaden.
"Some crackass keyed it last night at the race tracks. I'll get it tomorrow." Coby nodded
. "You know who?" Kaden nodded.
"One of Brandon's mate" Coby gave a long sigh. "Well, when you gonna go over the tracks ?" "Tomorrow". "Cool".Coby replied stopping the car. Kaden gave him a nod stepping outside and swinging his bag over his shoulder and walking away.
Coby was enough tired of things riling up at the club. And now there was a pressure over his head whether Kaden would fuck someone up again. He picked up his speed going straight to a house. His eyes stuck over the window of a house. She was yet again, painting.
He smiled.
She could feel a stare over her back and she looked back, out the window. When she saw a familiar car, as the headlights blinked twice she gulps. Her heart racing. Adrenaline picking up. Turning her lights off.
She opened her window and locked her door before pushing her ears to the door to see if anyone was awake. Her lips formed a smile, afraid. But slightly excited. As she tiptoed towards the ladder near her window.
Her legs swung over the frame and she got down. Her bare feet touching the ground and she flinched at the ice under her skin. Coby twitched his lips as he saw her tiptoeing towards his car. Only in a dress. With no jacket over.
She smiled getting in and closing the door. "Hello," Her sweet voice said.
Her smile suddenly turned into a thin line as she noticed his angry face. "What's wrong ?" Coby stared at her in disappointment.
"It's cold as fuck Lily, You have no shoes on. Nor a jacket ?" She frowned. "My shoes are at the door downstairs Alex. And I didn't think it would be that cold" He sighs.
"I told you not to call me that" She smiled. "But I like calling you that. Stop forcing me " he chuckled. "Have you eaten much ?" She nodded. Liar. He thought. Pulling his car out and speeding towards the nearest drive-thru. "Where are you taking me? Alex! I need to be in bed. !"
He ignored. "Alex! stop the car take me back, I am scared," She said.
"You are with me Lily, Stop being like that" She leaned back over the seat as Coby turned the heat on. Her feet feeling better after walking over Ice. She could see her heart melt as he pulled over at a McDonald's drive-thru. She wasn't as hungry.
But the very thought of a late-night meal, with him. It made her feel happy. "What do you want ?" She shrugged. "Just fries are fine. Maybe a burger." She whispered looking at the menu.
"Can I have two double cheeseburgers? And two larger fries. Umm, and a strawberry smoothie" Lily played with the sleeves of her dress as she couldn't express how happy she was. Strawberry smoothie was the only drink she loved.
"Thank you. I will pay you back-"
"You don't have to. Just be careful" She smiled. His heart almost banging out his chest as she kissed his cheek as a Thank you.
"How was work ?" she asked.
"Meh. Not so good. Not so bad" She nodded. Lily didn't want any food. She didn't want warmth over her feet. She didn't want what he did for her. She only cared if he met her. Sometimes he couldn't for weeks. It broke her heart but there was nothing she could do about it. "Are you going there again tomorrow ?" He hummed chewing on his burger.
"I gotta back up Kaden" She nodded chewing slowly over her fries and sipping on her smoothie.
"Be careful" He put his hand over her head ruffling her hair. "I am. Always. You don't have to worry about me" She gulped. "Oh, but I have to. Last time you pulled up near my house. You had a bruised hand." He laughed. "Whatever" She leaned back in sadness.
"I can't see you hurt Alex" It clicked something inside him. Something good. Different. And bad.
"Lily. I won't get hurt. You should go to sleep." She nodded.
"Take this," He said handing her the smoothie but she refused.
" You have it," she said. smiling softly and opening the door, she bends at the door as she stood.
"Good night." Coby nodded.
[Rose]
My eyes opened at seven, my legs sore because of the heels. I was hungry and Tired.
But something in me clicked. I didn't want to work for this office anymore. I didn't feel like working for something I did not apply for. I was supposed to be an editor. I was supposed to be working on projects that I trained for. But I was instead given the position of an assistant, I had to bring coffee, and get copies. Then prepare for meetings I was not involved in. I was never involved. I only sat at a chair noting things. For my boss.
My hands brushed over my wet hair and I grabbed my hairdryer, It was already 7:45 until I was done getting ready. I did not expect to see David sitting over the kitchen counter drinking my orange juice.
"Hey, Rose. Leaving for work?" I smiled nodding.
"Uh, ya, I will in a while" He nodded. His eyes following me as I made myself a smoothie pouring it in my goto bottle.
I didn't see him, acting stranger, until last month. I lived here for six months now. I never cared, I never got this unsettling feeling when I was with him. But now I do.
"How's your work going. You coming in real late. I heard the door close at two in the morning a day ago" I nervously chuckle. "Well, I had things to do. Was with people" I muttered. Taking my bottle and a banana and walking into my room.
