"I will be taking my leave now" Amber stated to her boss. She did not expect her to look at her or even glance. But when she did, Amber knew there was something more she wanted.
'Drop my nephew back to his hotel. Did you ask him about my concern yet?'
Amber stammered. She had been so occupied by the guests she never asked Theo about the penthouse. She looked at her shoes shuffling an inch to her side as her tongue was caught. Just a moment ago she had seen him escort a young lady out the venue to the back and it disgusted her that she never looked at him again. But he wasn't a client, he was her more so her boss. She cursed at that.
"I will ask-"
'So you haven't.'
Amber only glanced at the unsatisfied glare of Miss Linden who stood in front of her. The wine glass in her hands and her friends staring at Amber with a gaze she found unbearable.
'She did ask, Aunt. I haven't given an answer'
The sudden voice right behind her startled her. Amber turned back her head to him as he smiled explaining his current wishes to his aunt. Once she was satisfied he nodded looking at her.
'I am exhausted. Get the car please Amber'
Amber shuffled with her words but she could only nod and run out the hall. She could not believe a man like him saved her from her Boss's freak-out tantrums.
But as her luck could have it. A rookie server crashed into her as she nearly dogged him but his tray, full of drinks flew out his hand and directly onto Thoe who stood right behind Amber. She stared in disbelief as the server apologized over and over as Alex looked at himself and his soaked clothes.
"I-I am so sorry "
Amber's voice held great sorrow. That boy could hardly speak as the manager ran to them and glared at him.
'Get this cleaned up. Can we please escort you to the lounge when we can take care of it and you, you may leave'
Amber frowned at the boy who seemed visibly shaken. He admitted his defeat and picked up the shattered glass as others cleaned up the mess.
'There is no need to fire him. It was my fault' Amber stated as her boss glared at her. She knew it was a risky move but she could not pass the blame of her clumsy legs to a guy who was simply doing his job and bumped into her.
'But ma'am-' the manager was interrupted.
'This isn't that big of a deal Mr. James. I believe we can let it go this once. I have gained another reason to leave now since my aunt insisted on me staying'
The light sprinkle of laughter echoed through the hall as his Aunt sighs shaking her head.
'I was just a small accident. I don't think he should be blamed for it.' Theo stated before leaving the hall. He glanced back at Amber as she looked at her Boss before running behind him.
"Sir. I appreciate your help. Back there" She thanked him with her eyes on the ground. But he didn't speak. Pulling out his tie and too
'Get the car Amber'
'Oh! yes,' She said looking for the valet and running to him as he approached them.
'How far is your place?'
With no questions, Amber answered him.
"Actually, only fifteen minutes from here Sir. Why?"
'Then we go to your house. I cannot sir in there Champagne soaked clothes for 30 minutes'
Amber almost froze glancing at the mirror and nodding. She had no other choice, none of her associates lived near as close by and all hotels were booked or closed. There was no way she could run to a shop and buy him any cheaper ones. She thought about Walmart but a man like Thoe couldn't possibly touch those cheap clothes or try them on.
Her apartment almost shrunk in size the minute he walked in.
