Chapter 21

He stepped closer to me,every step he took towards me made my heart beat rapidly and I breathed heavily as if I fought for oxygen,he was obviously drunk and his state made me believe he would take advantage of me as we locked together in a room. When he got close enough, enough for me to perceive his  cologne,I arched my back with my hands on the table,I didn't want us to be that close.

He gripped my hands,"Ugh...I think I have a problem"He chuckled,he stepped back and used his hand to rub his forehead.

"I can't stop thinking about you"He asserted with a frustrating tone in his voice. "You are constantly on my damn mind and it's driving me crazy"

"Muffin,why?"He asked in a very sweet tone. I kept silent,looking at him like he was talking rubbish,he's drunk I guess.

"You must think I'm really drunk right now"He read my mind.

He stepped closer than ever and look straight into my eyes"Yes,I'm intoxicated but this time,not by alcohol but by you"

"Wh-what are you saying?"I stuttered.

"I'm saying you are alluring"

"I want to hold you,touch you and then kiss you,I can't help it anymore,I'm falling for you"He mumbled.

He claimed my lips,kissing it softly,he begged for entrance and I let him by kissing him back,I was also intoxicated by him but then...

"Jace,stop"I murmured in between his lips.

"Michelle,it has always been you"He whispered.

I pushed him away"Please stop,love isn't real in your world so why now?!"I asked,already frustrated and confused.

"You changed everything,muffin,I love you"He stated with pleading eyes.

My eyes widened and I gasped not still believing a thing.

"You are lying,stop lying!"I sobbed.

He pulled me into a hug, touching my hair and comforting me."Trust me when I say this,I love you"He reassured.

"Michelle!"

A hand made contact with my back,I jumped out of my bed immediately.

"Olivia,what was that for!I was enjoying my beauty sleep,you ruined it"I glared at the giggling girl.

"You kept calling Jace in your sleep,I had to wake you up"

"You shouldn't have,I was so close to telling him that I love him too"I pouted,folding my arms and looking away like a little child.

"Love ke,let me remind you,you have a boyfriend now,so stop thinking about Jace"She gushed as if there was something to be excited about.

"Boyfriend?Who!Oh!"my palms touched my face and I shook my head in realization.

"Luchelle"She wiggled her eyebrows and chuckled.

Oh pu-please

"I wanted my first and last boyfriend to be Jace Walker"I lamented.

"Well,we don't always get what we want"Olivia shrugged and sat next to me on the bed.

I scoffed"Tell that to losers"

"But I'm telling one already"She smirked.

I hit her with a pillow and we began a pillow fight, giggling like babies.

"Okay,stop it,go take your bath so we can go"

"To where?"I scrunched my brows in confusion.

"To Plea...sure park!!"She screamed,stressing the pleasure.

"Ugh.. I'm not going,my head is banging"I lied.

"You and I both know,you are saying that because you don't want to see Lucas"She smirked.

"Nooo"I denied."Go and bathe,you know we are leaving today,so today is the last day of fun"She grinned.

She was already dressed,she wore a white long-sleeve shirt with denim jean,casual.

"Okay fine"I walked sluggishly into the bathroom.

After my bath,I got dressed,quickly putting on a purple hoodie and black trousers.

Not in the mood for fashion

We joined the others and we all headed to Pleasure Park,the view was amazing.

"So what are we gonna do?"Olivia clipped her hands in my arms,grinning as she observed the place.

Everybody had already split up after payment for entrance and purchase of tickets.

"Let's go climb the tower"She suggested.

Nope

"I can't, I'm scared of heights"I frowned.

"Paintball?"She asked,hoping I would say yes.

"Okay then,let's give it a try"

Kim and few of our classmates were already playing that game.

I have a bad feeling about this

After putting on our gears and grabbing the guns,we headed towards them,ready to have fun.

"I see we have company"Kim smirked before passing Olivia a glare.

"I'm so kicking your ass"Olivia mouthed.

"We will see about that"Kim scoffed.

Oh wow,I'm at the wrong place

I gulped,I kept my two hands on the gun,one on the stock grip,I aimed at Kim,ready to win this.

"Michelle!,look Jace is behind you"Kim screamed.

I turned immediately with a huge smile on my face to see him but then I got shot.

Ouch!

Kim and Jace burst into hearty laughter,Jace held his stomach as result of laughter.

Oh wow,I'm the object of ridicule

"You are out!"Kim yelled,still laughing.

"Ugh!"I rolled my eyes and marched away.

I sat at a corner still wondering why I came here in the first place.

"Chelle!"I heard Olivia high pitched voice from behind.

"Yeah"I replied dryly.

"Come on,let's go to the lake for boat paddling"She gestured.

She grabbed my hands immediately not giving me room to object,she dragged me to meet the others.

"I'm not doing that,I'm scared of water"I pulled my hands from hers and stepped backwards.

You are literally scared of everything

"For Christ's sake,must you be scared of everything"Olivia yelled,she was obviously irritated and frustrated.

"Come on,babe,don't you trust me"Lucas told me in the sweetest tone.

We just started dating,I don't trust you yet

"I trust you but I don't and can't trust the water"I frowned.

"I'm not having this,you are going with us,it's either this or Virtual Reality"She glared.

"None"I smirked,ready to tick hell out of her.

"Mtcheww,who is doing that one with one?,put on this thing joor"She forcefully kept a lifejacket on me.

"Okay fine"My words kept a smile on their faces.

"Don't worry,I'm here with you,don't get scared,my love"

Remind me why I said yes last night

I entered the boat,praying silently that I won't die,you can never trust water.

After a successful ride,I heaved a sigh of relief and thanked God for saving my life.

Dramatic

We headed for 9D virtual reality and boy oh boy,it was scary,I guess I chose the wrong movie,I screamed the whole time,yelling that they should get me out,it was a nightmare,Lucas and Olivia just stood there, laughing,taking embarrassing pictures and recording videos of me.

Ugh....

The half of the day was spent,having fun,we headed back to our city since the fun was over. Surprisedly I didn't sleep throughout the journey,I ended up watching The Kissing Booth 2 on my phone to avoid sleeping,after the long hours on the road,we arrived at Asaba. Mason called my mum to let her know that we arrived safely,we were supposed to go home with a cab but my mum insisted she would come pick us up.

"It's up to 15 mins and she isn't here yet"Mason complained,he has been continuously checking his watch.

"You know I should be the one complaining and I don't see any reason for you to complain,aren't your dudes around or they have gone home?"I looked around in search for any of his friends.

Almost everybody has left for their home including Olivia,it was just few of us left,Lucas,Jace,Chioma,a girl from commercial class,Adam,the biggest competitor of Jace in Science class,Kim,Bayo,an art student and some girl named Adelola.

Okay I don't really know most of my classmates weird....

"Michelle"

I turned to see who it was

And whoever you are thinking,yes he was the one who called my name

"Hi,Jace"I waved my hands even though he was close.

"I need to talk to you about something"

Something! Oh ma gosh,can it be...

"Michelle"He called my name as he snapped his fingers to bring me back.

"Oh!Yeah,sure let's talk"I stuttered.

"Hey babe"Lucas greeted afterwards placed a kiss on my neck.

"Hey,bro,if you don't mind,I got to steal my girlfriend away"He emphasized on the my,a smirk already playing on his face.

Jace just had a cold look on his face and he walked away afterwards to meet the other guys.

"So,I wanted to ask you,if you want to hang out tomorrow"Lucas grinned.

"Hang out?Like a date?"An amused expression danced on my face.

What! I haven't gone on a date remember

"Not really,we are just gonna hang out at my place"He stated with his hands in his pockets.

I mouthed an "oh" in a response before finally saying something.

"I don't know,I got school work to do and I also have to get my hair done"I formed an excuse.

"Are you trying to make up an excuse because you don't want to hang out with me?"He frowned.

Oh boy

"No,it's not li-ke that,it's ju-st....

"Quit it, school work can wait alittle,it's not like I'm asking you to be with me for the whole week, it's just a day besides we are dating,so we have spend time together"His voice had some air of anger but I wasn't sure of it.

"Umm... okay"I responded in a low tone.

"See you later"He said before walking away.

Bestfriend turned boyfriend and I don't think it's gonna end well

"Miche,let's go,mum is here already!"Mason yelled from afar.

I quickly hurried to the car,I missed home and my family.

"We are home!"I screamed as soon as we got home,my scream made Maya run down the stairs to hug us.

"I missed you both"She pouted.

"I missed you too lil sis"Mason patted her head as if she was..

"I'm not a puppy"She frowned,retreating from the hug.

"So what did you get for me?You promised o, I don't want to hear story"The frown still on her face.

Mason handed her a nylon of the things he had bought for her and walked to his room,leaving me alone with her...

"Umm...I didn't get you anything"I stated,looking at the floor as if watching it was amusing.

"Huh?"

"But I can sub you for a month,you know,as compensation"I rubbed my neck nervously.

"Okay then,my network is MTN"She grinned before going upstairs.

I heaved a sigh of relief,for a second I thought she was going to eat me up.

Younger sisters are creepy sometimes

I took a shower when I got to my room,"I missed you"I talked to nobody in particular but my room.

"I missed you so much"I squeezed my pillow in a hug.

A phone call diverted my attention,I didn't even check the caller ID before clipping it on my ears.

Dumb dumb

"Hey Michelle"The voice greeted across the phone.

"I'm sorry for how I acted earlier,I shouldn't have reacted that way"

I didn't need to check before knowing it was Lucas,I remained silent listening to whatever he had to say

I'm not angry

"I was just...

I heard him release a frustrated sigh or something related to that

"If you aren't up for tomorrow,it's cool tho"He continued.

"No,I'm"I finally spoke."I shouldn't have made those excuses,it's just this relationship thing is new to me"I giggled and he stifled a laugh.

"Okay,umm,what time should I pick you up tomorrow?"

"I can come by myself that won't be necessary"I rejected.

"Well,I'm the boss here so I will pick you up tomorrow whether you like it or not"

"But...

"No buts..I gotta go,take care,love you"He said before ending the call.

Love you?,I thought the words are I love you ....

"I hope I'm not getting played"I muttered before falling asleep.

I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm and also the ringing of my phone.

Can't somebody rest

I used my hands to trace my phone on the bed with sleepy eyes,I answered and clinged it to my ears

"Hello....

"Don't tell me you are just waking up from sleep"

"Lucas? Lucas!"I whispered yelled

I checked the time on the clock,it was 11:00 AM

Holy crap

"Oh my....I'm so sorry,can I still make it"I bit my nails nervously.

"Yeah sure,I will pick you in...."He waited for me to complete his statement.

"30 minutes"

"30 minutes?"I could imagine him with a raised brow and an amused face.

"Is 30 minutes not too small for you to get ready?"He inquired.

"Don't worry,I won't take long to get dressed"I supported the phone on my ear with my shoulders as I searched my closet on what to wear.

"Okay,babe"He ended the call.

I aggressively searched my wardrobe,looking for an outfit to wear.

"No"

"No"

"Nope"

"Come on"

"I need to change my wardrobe"

"No"

"Oh my,11:15AM,how is time running so fast!This will do"I said to myself after picking a white net shirt and black dungarees gown,a pair of white Balenciaga sneakers and a transparent bag.

I rushed into the bathroom, hurriedly brushed my teeth and took time to bath,I made sure my hair wasn't wet because...

If the hair gets wet,just forget it and stay at home

I hate being a situation when I have to dress up very fast,ugh!!

I checked my phone and I got a message

Lucas🌹:Take your time in getting ready,my house isn't running 😂

I grinned when I read the message,I haven't even checked social media today. After putting on my clothes,I let my hair out of my satin bonnet,combing life out of it

My arms...ugh!!

After a little battle with it,I styled it into a back puff which I know will be disturbing but I'm not going on a date

I called Lucas to let him know I was ready but he wasn't picking up

Please don't tell me history is about to repeat itself

I kept calling but it showed line busy,I heaved a sigh of frustration and went downstairs,Mason was watching football while Maya was tapping on her phone and smiling like...

Somebody's son is chatting with your sister

I didn't see my mum or hear her voice so I assumed she must have gone to work.

"Where are you going?"Mason asked as soon as they acknowledged my presence.

"Nowhere"I replied,as I sat on the couch.

"Nowhere?and you are dressed like that?Quit lying"Maya voiced out.

"Detective Maya,leave me alone,I'm not going anywhere"

Mason was about to speak when my eyes caught a message on my phone

Lucas🌹:I'm outside.

My face held a huge smile on it

"Why are you smiling like an idiot?"Mason asked,his eyes still on the TV.

"Mind your business anyways I gotta go,byeee"

"Go where?"

"We are having our usual best-friends hangout,you know..Olivia,Lucas and I"I lied to Maya who had a smirk on her face.

"Okay,bye bye"She said before fixing her eyes back on her phone.

I skipped out of my house to meet Lucas outside,he stood at the front of a car

A Toyota Highlander for that matter

"Lucas,who owns this car?"My eyebrow raised in confusion.

"It's my dad's but it will soon be mine,he lets me use it"

I mouthed an "oh" because the few times I have been to his house,just like Jace's father house,there was fleet of cars in the garage.

"Hop in,mi lady"He opened the passenger's door and spoke in a British accent. I giggled and blushed as I got into the car,he winked before closing the door.

"Can I trust you with my life?"I asked playfully as he kicked the car into action.

"When you entered the boat with me,did you die?You are still alive"He chuckled.

"Okay but whatever you do,make sure we don't land in hell"

"Oh,so you know you are going to hell"He burst into laughter,one hand on the steering wheel.

"Well,at this moment and with the things I have done recently, yeah I'm going to hell but hey...I'm gonna repent and then I will make heaven"I stated.

"That means you have to break up with me because the last time I checked,pre-marital activities is a sin"He smirked.

"Pastor Lucas"I hailed him.

He doesn't seem like your boyfriend,you still see him as your male bestfriend,don't you !

I stared at his sideview,he didn't notice because his eyes were on the road,maybe Olivia was right after all...we don't always get what we want,I didn't and couldn't get Jace but I have Lucas...

"I'm not some handsome vampire,stop staring"He giggled.

"I wasn't staring"I lied. "Just admit things for once"He took a glance at me before taking his concentration back on the road.

I noticed he took a different route,"Lucas,this isn't the way to your house or is this a different route"I inquired.

"Oh,we aren't going home now"

"Then where are we going?"I scrunched my brows in confusion.

"To the mall"

"Huh?"

"I want to get some stuff plus I haven't bought anything for our hangout"He chuckled.

"Oh-kay"

We got to ASABA Mall,he parked and unlocked the car so we or he could come out.

"Where you going?"He asked."I'm following you to get the things you want to buy besides I want to get some for myself as well"I replied giving him the obvious look.

"Come on,babe,I won't be long,just stay here,I will get you what you want"He pecked me before leaving.

"But__I wanted to buy them with my___ugh! Nevermind"I mumbled.

I watched as he disappeared into the shopping centre.
