Chapter 22 - The Organization
LUNA ASTERBELLE's POV
"J-Joseph? I thought you weren't real..." I said as he approached me.
He showed me the palm of his hand, then smiled. "I told you, I want you, Luna. Whatever may get in between us won't matter. I'm only interested in getting to know more about you, no matter what the cost may be."
My eyebrows furrowed. "But... What about Andrea? Are you just gonna dump her like this?" I genuinely asked. I don't think that she would ever forgive me once she finds out about this.
Joseph pulled his hand back to him. "Don't make me repeat myself, Luna. I don't give a f*ck about who that Andrea is. My wolf only wants you to be mine and no one else," he answered with a stern look.
Mr. Asterbelle clapped twice just to gain our attention. "That's enough, both of you." He gazed upon the man beside me, at the same time that he threw the same type of gun that I was holding. Joseph managed to catch it through its barrel. "I believe I already informed you ahead of time that your only task here is to bring her back, and train her until she has the capability to pass the organization's trials, right?"
I noticed the way Joseph hid his gulp. "Y-yes, sir. I haven't forgotten my role here. I apologize for letting my intrusive thoughts beat me earlier, I swear that I won't let it happen again."
Just like that, my dad left the two of us without giving me some advice on what to do. My eyes instantly moved sideways as I received a weird feeling from where Joseph was standing.
And I wasn't mistaken.
Joseph already had the gun pointed over to my direction, precisely to my head as if he had no space for hesitation.
"H-hey..." Before I could have continued to speak, my feet moved on their own. I avoided the gunshot. "Are you trying to kill me?!" I furiously asked. Looking at the bullet that fell to the floor, I saw that it was made up of silver. "What's wrong with you, really?!""
Joseph smirked. "You have nice reflexes, but you talk too much. Conversations can be done after, you should learn how to prioritize saving yourself first. It's not like you can always rely on some other people to protect you." Based on what he said, he's most probably training me already.
***
I underwent physical training for consecutive days and today marks the first week since I started. The weight that I've lost was remarkable, especially now that I could already get a glimpse of the muscles on both of my arms and legs. The changes in my appearance were beneficial to me, and I know for sure that I wouldn't have improved this much if it wasn't for the guidance of Joseph.
I owe him a lot.
He was way more skilled than I was. There were times when he hurted me with the scrape of his bullets, but it was all because of my inattentiveness.
"A week passed by. Are you all set now?" Joseph asked me.
We were outside of the mansion early in the morning. He skipped breakfast as he had no energy, which influenced me to do the same. I was literally running out of spirit to even stand straight in broad daylight.
I breathed out heavily before I gave him my response. "I'm more than ready." I stretched my arms above my head. Joseph chuckled at the sight of what I did, which made me conscious. "Anyway, you still haven't told me how you're actually able to pinpoint my exact location during our shooting practice. I'm pretty sure that Ikept myself hidden well too."
He placed both of his hands behind his head while walking towards the gate. "My senses never fail me. That's the only thing that you should remember. Even if my mind refuses to believe my own guts, I still pursue it with a fifty percent chance of winning," he snickered playfully.
"But, didn't you tell me that you're just a doctor of the pack?"
"Doctors of the pack are all proficient wolves, Luna. It's not that we simply got evaluated through our medical experiences," he answered. "My abilities won't matter during your trials at the organization, so it'd be best for you if you'd actually pay more attention to yourself, rather than the people around you."
I have totally given up the idea of mentioning Andrea to him. It sounds impossible how he has no memory of the past, but it'd be much more impossible if he'd be the same Joseph that we knew before, after seeing how he died. Maybe this really is the time for us to accept his death.
"Exactly what is this organization that you and Mr. Asterbelle kept on babbling about?"
"Let's save the talking once we get there, shall we?"
Joseph opened the gates for me. There was a car on the other side, which I saw for the first time since I came here. It probably belonged to Joseph as he insisted that he'd drive me to the organization's location.
I sat on the back as I refused to sit on the passenger's seat. I'm still uncomfortable around him and I don't want to stick too close to him.
"We're here," Joseph said after a few minutes passed.
As I leaned my head to the window, I didn't notice that I already dozed off. Luckily, I wasn't a heavy sleeper. Joseph was the first one to exit the car, so he immediately came to open the car's door for me to step out.
I gasped when I finally realized where we were. "D-Dark Shadow Clan?!" I exclaimed.
"You know this place?" Joseph asked, and I simply nodded my head once to answer. "But, I'm certain that this place has a high level of security. As far as I know, it's totally impossible for just anyone to enter their premises, unless you're accompanied by a member of the clan... Perhaps, you have a friend or two inside, since you're a half-blooded vampire?" he uttered in confusion.
