Chapter 54 - Aura of Sincerity
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POV
I ultimately lost control of my whole body. I couldn’t regenerate, no matter how many attempts I made. My blood flushed out of my shoulders as I watched my fingers slightly tap themselves on the ground as if they had their own life.
"Is this how you intend to treasure me for eternity? By slowly killing me?" I asked.
Alpha Shin’s eyes literally showed how amused he was. "Oh, this is just the beginning. Would you like to get to the exciting part now or would you wait until it’s officially your turn?" He laughed like a maniac would.
I hissed, unable to think of a plan to get away from this place without my arms. I refuse to be a part of the Blood Moon Pack’s prey.
"You already have my blood. What would you do now?"
Shin knelt on one of his knees on the floor, glancing below to have a look at the viscous liquid down there. He let his index finger slip on it, then raised it in front of my face to tease me.
"This…" He played with my blood with his fingers. "A single droplet would suffice more than a century’s worth of our hungry stomachs. And another drop could create a thousand magnetic shockwaves throughout an entire pack," he murmured before he stood up and got close to one of the cells, holding on to its rail.
Shin had this look on his face that implied how much wickedness he had in mind.
"I don’t care what you plan to do with my blood… just… save me, Shin," I whispered as a plea to escape from the deepest part of my soul.
It’s been a couple of months, and yet I’m still not strong enough to utilize the gun my father gave me. If it was Mr. Asterbelle, I’m sure that he could’ve landed an attack on Shin whether he had his arms intact or not.
But I’m too fragile to even dream of defeating an alpha.
Shin suddenly turned around, probably not anticipating that I’d beg for my life to be spared. However, he continuously laughed to mock me for how weak I was; he was enjoying the show.
"Save you? Why?"
"You can’t do as you please if you kill me, Shin," I said with full determination to make him believe my words.
He raised one of his eyebrows. "What are you saying? Don’t you see the blood that I got just from ripping your arms apart? What more if I slash through all of your organs?" he confusingly asked, still pretending to sound like he had nothing to fear.
I gulped but still managed to maintain my composure. He might have this ability to sense the pattern of my heartbeat, so I have to be extra cautious. Wolves are built differently. Considering that I have the power to see their aura and release flames through my palms, I’m certain that Shin has a special ability as well.
"My blood would be useless without me, Shin," I answered. "Even if you can store my blood right now and hide and freeze it somewhere, it would likely be similar to the components of water once I’m no longer breathing," I added to further explain.
"Precisely!" Shin clapped once, which brought the loud screams of those inside the cell back to life. "You think I’m that dumb not to know something that simple?" He smirked.
I tried to step back, forgetting that I was at a dead end. Shin pinned me to the wall when he saw how desperate I was to get away from him. I didn’t even realize that he was holding one of my arms.
"You shouldn’t lie, Luna. It’s not appropriate for you to do so. You could have died just by fabricating the truth back there if it wasn’t me that you were talking to," Shin mumbled. His hot breath reached my ears.
"How did you know?"
"Your breathing pattern was weird. It’s unusual for you to inhale so quickly just because you were speaking. And besides, when I cut off this arm of yours, you made sure not to breathe to minimize its pain, didn’t you?"
I could no longer look him straight in the eye when he said that.
The Alpha aggressively placed my arm back on my shoulder with a strong impact that made me shriek. There were weird movements that I could sense from the insides of my shoulder, as if its bones and veins were trying to reconnect with my arm that was torn off.
"Ahh!" I yelled out when he did the same to the other side. "S-sh*t…"
"Now that you have your arms back…" Shin used both of his hands to eradicate all of my possible routes to escape. "Embrace me, Luna," he uttered with a lot of authority in his voice.
I paused for a short while, wondering what Shin really wanted to happen between the two of us. After a minute, I gently placed my arms around his back.
And just as I was about to let go of him, he pulled me towards him, which made my forehead bang on his chest. I could smell the perfume on his shirt even though I didn’t intend to sniff him.
"Ah, this is perfect…" Shin said, then caressed my head until his hand stopped on my neck, slightly tilting my head upwards to meet my eyes. "Don’t you know how much aura you’re spreading right now?" he asked.
I wondered if he could also see auras just like I do, but I guess he’s just that outstanding. "Do you see how much I loathe you and want to kill you at this very moment, just to gain my freedom from you and the entire Blood Moon Pack?"
Alpha Shin shook his head, then shortly answered, "No."
He placed his chin above my head, forcing me to sniff him for the second time.
"Your aura is filled with sincerity, Luna… Is your heart racing for me?"
