Chapter 63 - Luna's Awakening
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POV
Out of all the people that gathered here, Dawn was the only one I could think of, even though Shin was in the midst of transferring Lizzy's blood to me. My entire world spun when he finally lost his composure—Dawn aggressively pulled Shin away by his collar, then kicked his knees with his brute force.
I couldn't stand straight; it was like my vision was impaired. I tried to hold onto something, but my hands only managed to catch the air. Everything turned red at the same time that I sensed my nails and teeth getting sharp. "N-no…" I whispered to myself, afraid of what I might cause if I'm unable to control myself and lose consciousness while I'm in here.
I immediately turned the other way, which Nero blocked. "You're craving for blood, right?" he asked.
My eyes failed me. I seriously thought that it was the beta who was in front of me who questioned me, but realizations quickly hit me when I unintentionally bit the person's neck.
"D-D-Dawn!" I backed off as soon as I noticed the taste of his blood. "W-why…" I couldn't say what I wanted to.
The king covered his neck with his bare hands, but it wasn't sufficient as his blood kept gushing out. "Let's get out of here," he said as if nothing had happened to him.
His scent won't come off. I had this strong urge to pull him and bite him again, but I had no confidence to do so. I glanced around, and I confirmed that Lizzy was still alive, just weaker than before. I suddenly recalled that it was Lizzy's blood that made me feel so high. No wonder she can endlessly regenerate herself, no matter how she was killed.
"Dawn," I called him. The second our eyes met, I heated up inside my belly, going to my chest until it reached my cheeks. "Let's go?"
He gave me a short nod. "Calm yourself down first. We don't know when those two will strike again," he mumbled, removing his hand from his wounded neck, which exposed his blood.
I groaned in pain when I fought that same urge.
However, Dawn took the initiative as he grabbed me, forcing me to do as I desired. "Don't fret. I won't die even if you drink all my blood."
My worries subsided, then I did as I was told—I bit Dawn as if I were marking him in broad daylight. My fangs were getting deep inside him. No one bothered to intervene. It was unusual that the Holmes were standing by as if biting Dawn was a part of their plans; everything happened according to how they assumed it would turn out.
The longer that I sipped Dawn's blood, the higher my doubts got. There's no way that blood tastes similar to someone else's. I clearly know that all of them were supposed to taste salty, bitter, or like rust. But, even when I was still a pup, I definitely remember how sweet HIS blood was.
"Dawn, you oddly taste the same as Jerome Dawson," I finally commented after I stepped back. "So sweet." I rubbed my bottom lip with my thumb, licking his excess blood from it.
Someone behind us cracked a laugh. "How amusing. The son of the Moon Goddess has the same blood as the King of the Mafias?" Alpha Shin said after a long time of being silent.
My body turned numb before I could face Shin. I collapsed to the ground, and my eyes were fixated on the ceiling despite hearing Dawn's continuous plea for me to get up.
It was no use. My blood literally boiled inside, which was probably because of what Shin did to me earlier. I was beginning to go insane, and I couldn't help it.
"It looks like someone's finally about to awaken," Nero announced.
Just like what the beta wrote in that paper, I was expected to awaken when Shin gave me Lizzy's blood. It was only a myth: the Shamans have the power to ignite anyone's power that hides deep within one's soul.
We took the gamble of fooling the alpha. Nero knows how self-centered his brother was.
"Awakening? Do you mean that Luna's yet to unleash her wolf?" Shin questioned the beta. I couldn't hear anything else; they're probably mind-linking for us not to eavesdrop on.
I parted my lips as I struggled to breathe. With all my remaining strength, I tapped Dawn's foot, which was near my hand.
"You alright? Of course you're not…" Dawn was seriously distressed.
But that was it. The words that I wanted to tell him never came out. I couldn't even talk to him through our mind-link.
"You don't have to force yourself to speak, Luna. I'll get you somewhere safe for now. I'll try to convince these rascals," he assured me with a gentle smile.
About half an hour passed by. Dawn successfully brought me to the Crimson Moon Pack's Guest House, where only a few people were allowed to enter. There were servants and some doctors around. Most of them seemed to not know about my identity or what kind of mess occurred back there.
Everything was constructed firmly with stones. Even their furniture matched the color of their stone walls. They weren't using bulbs as their main light sources, only candlesticks.
Here, no one gave a damn about me and Shin. At long last, I can have serenity, at least for a while.
"You're awake," Dawn beamed as he walked through the door's threshold, carrying a basket filled with fruits. "You shouldn't get up now. Your body is still exhausted from what you did yesterday night…" His voice decreased as he finished his statement.
I tilted my head sideways. "What did I do?"
He put the basket above the table before he sat near the edge of the bed. "You shifted," he shortly replied.
I raised my eyebrows. "Isn't that a good thing? I believe I already told you before how I never completed shifting with my wolf."
Dawn shook her head, like it was such a bad idea. "It shouldn't have been a big deal if you just turned into a wolf. But that wasn't the case; you turned into a hybrid lycan. Your waist down to your feet were like a wolf, while your upper body was similar to a human, and the only difference was the existence of your wings and fangs. Your eyes even turned red," he explained.
I kind of expected that I would end up that way, so I wasn't surprised. I touched my head when it ached. "What…" I felt something thick sticking out on my forehead.
"Ah, that seems to grow out of your forehead every time you're losing control, just like that time during your first trial when you thought Yve was dead. And now, it's probably going to stay on you permanently."
Bearing vampire genes was already dreadful, and now I have to deal with this? How would I go outside now that I have this horn that makes me look like a demon?
