Chapter 9 - The Moon Goddess
LUNA ASTERBELLE’s POV
I’ve been trying to fight with Yve for a couple of minutes now. She just doesn’t know when to give up. My hands were already getting huge and I could feel that my fingernails were about to sharpen. I don’t want to hurt her, even though she’s already treating me like some kind of blood sucking creature, I still believe that she’s still the same friend that I loved.
“S-stop this, Yve… You’re the only one who’s going to be hurt if you keep on doing this to me,” I pleaded with her as much as I could, but my voice doesn’t seem to reach her anymore. Her dark desires were already eating her entire system and she only wanted to get hold of my blood. “Why are all of you insisting on having my blood? Wouldn’t this be dangerous for you since you’re a wolf?” I asked her out of pure curiosity, since I’m really concerned with what would happen to her if she gets to take a sip of my blood.
She pinned me to the ground, completely restricting any possible movements that I could make against her. Yve even made sure that I wouldn’t be able to turn her around as she trapped my legs in between her. “A true friend would forgive me this once. Shall I cut through your neck or would you give me your blood willingly? It’s your decision to make, monster,” she muttered.
Yve really changed. From the way that she spoke, the way that she calls me, and especially the way how she hurts me.
“You’re not the same Yve that I used to know anymore…” I shortly said at the same time that my nails grew longer. “If you really see me as a friend, you wouldn’t be acting so selfish like this, Yve. You’re just doing this for your own satisfaction and not for the sake of anyone else other than yourself.”
I used up only half of my strength which was already enough to push her away from me. I quickly stood up and attempted to head out of her house, but I stopped myself when I heard her speak.
“You’re no different from Jerome now. You’re the same as the one you hate, you turned into the same monster that you despise.”
I hissed when I heard how she compared me to that man. It still irritates me how she kept on calling me a monster even though I wasn’t even doing anything that would prove that I am actually a monster just like what she proclaims me to be.
“You have no right to say those to me anymore, Yve. Remember this day, you would surely regret turning your back on me when I was just kindly asking for your assistance.” Those were my last words to her as I exited her house.
At least for a little bit, I have hoped that she would be the only one who I can turn to whenever I’m in trouble. I thought that Eman trusted Yve as well since he was able to leave me all by myself in this place. I don’t even know how I would start over with my life. I feel like I have been abandoned for the second time ever since I have been adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Asterbelle.
I rubbed my elbow, silently wishing that someone out there would be kind enough to give me a shelter to stay for the night.
“Luna?” a man called me.
“Eman?” I mentioned the name of the first man that popped inside my mind, slightly hoping that it was actually him. I turned around to face the direction from where I heard his voice and saw him still wearing the same hoodie. “It’s really you.”
“You’re quick to recognize me now,” Eman muttered as he pulled his hoodie to make sure that his face was still covered. “Your friend threw you out of her house, didn’t she?” he asked.
Eman most probably already had the thought that this would be the outcome. “Yeah… I actually feel betrayed. After all of the kind gestures that I gave her…” My eyebrows furrowed as my lips curved in disappointment. The moonlight that shone upon his side profile gave me a glimpse of what he looked like. I continuously rubbed my eyes when I saw him.
“Is there something wrong?” Eman questioned as he stepped forth. “Are you… crying?” he added as he held onto my hand to stop me from rubbing my eyes.
It can’t be him, right?
“Nothing. The dust in the wind just got through my eyes,” I said as I made up an excuse. “So… What brings you here, Eman? Do you have some business matters to do with Yve?”
He shook his head. “I was worried about you. You know how sincere I was when I said that I didn’t want to see you being taken away by anyone else, right?” The ground that we were on began to shake and since my senses were keen, I immediately let myself float to avoid getting cope up with the quake. “T-this sensation… She’s coming,” he mumbled, which gave me a confused look.
The rustling sounds of the leaves suddenly turned quiet. There were no traces left that sounds actually existed in this universe. It was as if we’ve been transported over to a different space and time.
“Luna Asterbelle… I’ll be taking you with me.” The voice of the woman who recently spoke echoed all throughout the area that we were in.
Eman tried to stop me from getting sucked up by some portal as he tightly held both of my hands, but it was a futile effort. “Luna… Whatever happens, never trust Althea. You can never have faith in that woman, she’s insane down to the core! I’ll be coming over to get you soon, just bear with her nonsense for a while,” he said in such a quick pace, unsure whether he would still last for a minute holding onto me.
Althea..?
The Moon Goddess, Althea?!
