The next day I woke up smelling her on my pillow. Her last text should be an indication, I should feel relieved reading within the fine lines.

It was sexy, stating that only. No commitment, nothing more. No future meet.

But my hands were itching to reply to her text and last night I finally texted her again, after several corrections, and hit send to get it over with.

I cursed myself for being such a needy man. Fuck! I should really move on with my life.

Alice was at the hospital, I was going to visit them again and make sure she rests. Though I didn't think she would want to go home, luckily I managed to flirt my way to one of the nurses to speed up the process of providing them with the VIP room last night.

Alice thanked me for it, though I said she did more for me when I was surviving on the street when I was a teen. She finally cried and told me that I'm a good man and that one-day good things would come to me.

"And I'm not saying about the money. You can have all the money in the world but still, be miserable. One day you will be truly happy. Just like me and Archie. He would be just fine..."

She was to back to holding his hand, and I decided to leave her to his side. But not before I mentioned, that I would be there in the morning with her breakfast.

I groaned when I look at the time and get my naked ass lazily to the bathroom. It was not until I saw the tub that I was reminded of her again.

Damn. This is going to be a very long day...

But the morning urges catches up to me as I was getting hard instantly, then I finally gave up and stroke myself under the shower. I was closing my eyes with one hand on the shower wall, and the other one circling my tip. "Allen, thank you for last night..." Alice greeted me when she sees me bearing coffee and breakfast.

"So, have you talk to the doctor?"

"Yes, thankfully last night they did an emergency procedure, an invasive one. He should be out of the hospital in three to five days..." Alice caressed his hand lovingly, and she started tearing up again.

"Hey...you heard the doctor. He's going to make it. You need to be strong for him..." I told her while placing our coffee and breakfast on the seating area, across his bedside.

"...Come, you should have breakfast. I got you doughnuts too. I know it's not as alluring as your designer cakes but it's delicious." I smiled at her trying to cheer the older woman.

She eventually took a seat beside me and told me what has been happening since the last time I left her alone.

"Look, why don't you go home take a shower and get your necessities? Or... how about you give me your keys and list down everything you need from the house and I'll go get it for you?"

"I don't want to leave his side. I can't...but if you don't mind, I would be grateful if you could pick up..."

I cut her words smiling at her.

"Done, just make a list. Look, you two were my savior. I should be doing more for you, I love you both. You know that right?"

She was teary again seconds later, I pulled her in and hugged her as she finally breaks down in my arms.

Ten minutes later she was done with her crying and was drinking her coffee.

"You are right, these doughnuts look boring." She said picking a doughnut for a bite.

We finally laughed, but then subside not long after when she sees her husband lying still on the bed.

I decided to go out to the nurse's station and asked for a pen and paper for Alice to write her list.

"Here, write everything down. Oh, and books I could get you that too, you can read it to Archie?" suddenly I had the idea, knowing that maybe Archie would like to hear her voice and she could keep herself busy.

She smiled widely liking the idea, it warmed my heart to see that small thing could make her smile so bright.

"Oh Allen, thank you! Wait let me write it all down. I'm going to let you roam my underwear drawer just this once..."

Her words made me laugh, I leave her after making sure that she finishes her breakfast. Archie was still sleeping when I leave her, but I could see that she was feeling better and I was glad that she was in a happier mood when I left.

The day passed effortlessly after I swing by to Archie's and get Alice's things then back to the hospital with her lunch. But then she insisted that I should come back the next day and back to my training. She was feeling bad that she was taking my time.

I knew her already and sometimes it was just not worth it to argue with her, so I was on my way back to my house after making sure that she'd call me for anything.

"I mean it, Alice. Anything. I owe you guys so much more. I would set up camp if you'd let me. But I'm respecting your privacy...."

She laughed when I told her that, but I was serious. If my presence could lift her spirit, I would endure the nurses longing stares at me. And yes, strangely I do have that effect on women. But not for the one woman that I actually wanted apparently.

I cursed myself for going back to thinking about her again.

"Allen darling, I know you would. You're sweetest after my Archie, and I kept on wondering why are you still single."

"Maybe because you're already taken?" I teased her making her laughed again. But then she hugged me and sends me away, telling me to go live my life and we will see each other again tomorrow.

I arrived at an empty house, feeling the agitation I decided to take my board and catch some waves.

Just forget about her.
