CHAPTER 55
The flight home was peaceful. Most especially because I didn't see Kim anywhere. Our last encounter wasn't one I would want to repeat again. She irritated me so much I felt like doing something crazy to her like maybe pull her hair but that was way below my league.
"I am more classy for such low behavior like that." I said to myself as I smiled.
"Cherry, why are you smiling?" Adam asked as he pulled close to him.
"Nothing" I muttered before clearing my throat.
"Really?" He didn't believe me, I could see it in his eyes but I care less because there is no way in the world I will tell him what my thoughts were then he will see me as the jealous type.
'Oh no,' I shuddered because I'm not, although my subconscious didn't agree with me. I shake it off.
"Cherry?" He called again, drawing me out of my thought
"Ohm, oh how I miss my mom and dad. I hope dad is much better now." I said, changing the topic immediately.
"Oh, come here." He pulled me closer, I felt warm. "Don't worry too much, I'm sure he is okay."
"Yeah," I smiled, as my head rested on his broad chest. The heat coming from him made my body tingle, and my heart beating like crazy.
"Need something to eat?" He asked as he stroked my hair.
"No, thank you." I smiled again, a thing I have been doing quite often.
"For what?" He asked, staring down at me. I can feel his gaze on me.
"For everything. In this short while you made it so special that I had so much fun. I wouldn't mind repeating it again." I confessed.
"Really?" He smiled. "Same here. Um, there is an upcoming business associate and other business owners gathering coming up soon that I will like both of us to attend together."
"Really?" I frowned not because I didn't want to attend with him but because I haven't heard anything about a gathering coming up which was strange since I'm his PA and should hear about everything.
'I hope this is not one of his tricks,' I said to myself as I raised my head up to stare at him.
"Yes. It's strictly business, organized by one of my business associates. You know," he paused before continuing. "Top prominent business men would be coming. And to be honest with you I hate attending such gatherings but the deal I'm looking forward to signing, the man wouldn't want to have the meeting at any other place except there. And this came really as a short notice." He sighed, a frown appearing on his cute face as Adam was completely clueless as to why a person will make such silly demands of him even at short notice at that.
"Really, that's quite strange."
"Yeah."
"So is it like a party or something?"
"Yes, a party that is organized to strictly oppress another, showing off one's achievement and looking down on the others below your league. You Know how things like this work right? So disgusting." He muttered. "Sometimes I wonder why people bother attending it though."
I chuckled at his comment. "Well I can't say much about this maybe because I'm not the party type. Like I hardly ever attend parties, not when I'm busy with dad at the office. There is hardly ever spare time for me. It's not like I'm complaining though because I like it. Working with dad makes me happy."
Wow, really?" He stared at me surprised. "Like you never attend parties for real?"
"Yeah," I nod my head.
He smiled. "You Know looking at you from the outside and judging your character, one would easily think you are the party type and enjoy attending such parties. Not like you're rude or anything like that." He confessed. "So please don't get me wrong."
"Of course not." I tapped his chest playfully, surprised he would think of me like that.
"Yes." He stated flatly. "That's why today I have come to learn a big thing about you my angel."
"Which is?" I pressed further.
"Never judge a book by it's cover and in this case, never judge Catherine by her beautiful looks." He chuckled, and a smirk appeared on his cute face making him cuter.
I blushed, turning red completely.
"Well, am I to take that as a compliment?"
"Of course, it is. You're one of a kind babe, the total package anyone would ask for that I consider myself lucky to have found you love. You're beautiful, intelligent, hot and a kind soul. If I start listing your many amazing qualities then you won't get inside your house on time." He nudged his head straight ahead so I had to turn to see what he was referring to.
"Wow, oh my God." I chuckled. "I'm home already?" I was so lost in his captivating green eyes and sweet words that I didn't know when the car came to a halt.
"Yes Cherry, you're home already. We arrived like ten minutes ago."
"Uh," I gasped. "And you didn't tell me?" I wasn't happy with him for that, not that I don't enjoy his company, but because right now I feel like a fool; a love struck fool.
"Sorry," he grinned. "I was just enjoying your company and I don't want it to end. But that would be selfish of me now, right? Your family must be waiting for you inside."
"But aren't you coming inside?" I asked, surprised.
"No Cherry, not today. If I come inside then your family won't let me go on time and I have a lot of pending work waiting for me to take care of. But I promise to make up for it." He pulled me closer for a quick kiss. "I will have to release you for now, we will talk more later.
"You have to go now, or I might not let you go again." He sighed.
"Alright." I eased myself out of his tempting embrace. Because if I don't leave now then I won't have the strength to leave to either.
Sighing, Adam let go of me grudgingly. "See you on Monday!" He called as I stepped out of the car heading to the door.
"Bye see you," I blew a kiss as I watched as the car pulled out of the gate.
One of the security men rushed to my aid and helped me with my luggage.
"Thank you." I muttered.
After ringing the bell, within minutes the door flew open and my mother was standing at the door with her hands spread wide to welcome me into the warm embrace I love so much.
"Mother!" I called excitedly, running into her arms.
"Honey! I missed you so much." She hugged me tight. "How was your trip, and how is my future son in law?" She glanced behind me. "He didn't come with you, why?"
"Jane, wouldn't you at least let our daughter come inside first before you start drilling her with your questions?"
"Father!" I left everything in my hands and ran straight to him. "I miss you so much, how is your health?" I asked, still embracing him.
Chuckling, he held me tight. "I'm much better my dear."
