Chapter 34 - Azure Sky Kingdom

Looking at the disappearing figure of Qing Yi, Xuan Hao wondered about the upcoming newcomer tournament in a couple weeks' time.

Considering the current strength of Qing Yi, she would definitely be able to participate in it and get a good ranking. Not to mention a good ranking, if she managed to learn the Heaven Burning mantra at least to an initial level, she would be able to easily take the first place!

But learning a Heaven Rank cultivation mantra was easier said than done and even gaining an initial understanding would take weeks if not months for Qing Yi. This was only because she had the Bright Sun Divine Physique, without it, learning the Heaven Burning Mantra would most likely be close to impossible.

In the end, whether or not she wanted to participate was up to her. The newcomer tournament mostly existed so as to allow the newly recruited disciples to get to know each other and mix together.

After all, most of the time they would meet each other would be when the elders held lectures for them regarding cultivation.

Qing Yi did not participate in the lectures held by the inner or outer elders, as she had already taken a master and was just following what little instructions Xuan Hao had left for her. Spending most of her time training and cultivating.

The upcoming newcomer tournament would definitely be a good opportunity for Qing Yi to mingle together with the other new disciples.

At least that was what Xuan Hao thought to himself as he made his way back towards his room in the pavilion.

As Qing Yi made her way back into her room, she immediately started reading the Heaven Burning Mantra and tried to learn as much as she could. Even though it was hard to comprehend, Qing Yi felt herself finding it easier and easier to read. By the time she fully recovered from exchanging her earth qi with fire qi, she immediately tried cultivating according to the way her master taught her.

The result was nothing short of surprising as Qing Yi could feel her strength slowly increasing, she even felt that she was close to breaking through to the next small realm already!

This was nothing short of amazing, soon, Qing Yi would be at the same cultivation realm as Wen Lu, who ended up becoming the first-place holder in the entrance examination of the Flying Sword Sect.

Thinking about this, Qing Yi felt grateful towards her master helping her.

As Qing Yi was training and trying her best to comprehend the Heaven Burning Mantra, Xuan Hao quietly cultivated in his room.

Like this, a few weeks passed by and the newcomer tournament would soon begin.

Qing Yi had already prepared for it and with the help of her friend Zeng Shihan, she managed to sign up for the tournament.

Xuan Hao also learned that Qing Yi was going to participate in the newcomer tournament and decided to go there to watch as well.

The newcomer tournament was not only great for getting to know others, but was also a great learning opportunity for the new disciples of the Flying Sword Sect.

The fighting experience that they gained at the newcomer tournament would always be useful, even if they lost and there was not any danger of losing their life as it was just a friendly competition. The elders from the Flying Sword Sect ensured that nobody would end up getting hurt too badly or get fatally injured.

"Elder Xuan, are you going to watch the newcomer tournament as well?" As Xuan Hao made it to the tournament ground, a masculine voice called out to him from behind.

"Wang Hu… Yes, I'm going to watch the newcomer tournament. My disciple will be participating as well. What about you? I have not seen your brother Wang Lan around lately?"

"I see, I'm here to see if any of the new blood can catch my interest. Maybe some of them toughened up after the first few weeks! Haha, you never know! My brother on the other hand went out to check out something around the border of the Heavenly Sky Kingdom.

Apparently, the Heavenly Sky Royal family requested for us and the other three to send over a Nascent Soul expert to assist with something there." Smiling widely, Wang Hu explained his reason for watching the newcomer tournament, as his face slowly became a little more serious upon mentioning where his brother was.

"I see… Is it the border with the Azure Sky Kingdom?" Thinking about it for a while, Xuan Hao remembered that the Heavenly Sky Kingdom was on not so friendly terms with the Azure Sky Kingdom.

"Yes, it is our borders with the Azure Sky Kingdom…"

Skirmishes had erupted from time to time at their borders, but the participants in those had never exceeded the Core Formation Realm.

For the Heavenly Sky Kingdom to request Nascent Soul experts from the four big sects could only mean that the skirmishes had evolved beyond the stage of only being fighting between Core Formation Realm experts.

Letting out an exhausted sigh, Xuan Hao thought about the implications of it.

A full-blown war was not impossible, even if both the Heavenly Sky Kingdom and Azure Sky Kingdom belonged to the same Empire, The Great Sky Empire.

The Great Sky Empire did not care what happened between its kingdoms and one kingdom destroying another was ignored. No matter what, the territory still belonged to the Great Sky Empire and it was only the person who controlled it that had changed.

The only time where the Great Sky Empire would try to prevent a war between kingdoms was if the kingdom had a Domain Lord present in it.

Nascent Soul experts did not mean a lot in a giant empire like the Great Sky Empire, but Domain Lords were worth a lot and even the weakest Domain Lord was precious to the Great Sky Empire.

Thinking about it, Xuan Hao felt like his strength was still too low in the world. Maybe he was strong in the Heavenly Sky Kingdom, but what about outside of it? At most he could be considered decent, as for being able to freely travel through the Ewaria continent, he would first have to reach the Domain Lord Realm.

Sitting down together with Wang Hu, Xuan Hao looked at the stage where the newcomer tournament would take place.
