Chapter 39 - Breaking Through In The Middle Of Fighting!

Yi Xuan did not bother waiting any longer and suddenly moved! Her body was like a flash of white light as qi started gathering around the centre of her palm as she launched an attack directly towards Lu Wen's chest.

The palm of Yi Xuan flew through the air and barely managed to miss Lu Wen as he dodged to the side.

Not stopping, Yi Xuan quickly turned around and launched another palm attack in the direction of Lu Wen.

Not minding the attacks Yi Xuan sent at him in a constant barrage, Lu Wen dodged one attack after another. Not trying to attack at all as he only spent his energy on dodging the endless barrage of attacks launched by Yi Xuan.

"… Is he looking to exhaust all of her energy…?" Xuan Hao felt slightly speechless as he looks at this scene.

Exhausting a cultivator was indeed a possibility, but it would take a long time, especially when Yi Xuan didn't expend any qi and only gathered it at her palm ready for an attack.

"…" Wang Hu decided to not comment at the current state of the fight and just looked off into another direction.

As the audience prepared themselves for a prolonged fight, Yi Xuan suddenly moved at a speed beyond what most of the new disciples could see and instantly appeared in front of Lu Wen.

Having no way of escaping such speed, Lu Wen reacted quickly and switched from dodging to attacking in an instant.

Lu Wen launched his own attack and met Yi Xuan's attack head on.

The stone stage Lu Wen was standing on had been shattered as a spider web like crack appeared, spreading out with Lu Wen as the centre.

The attack from Yi Xuan had been able to shatter the stone stage beneath Lu Wen!

Both Yi Xuan and Lu Wen quickly jumped away from each other after the clash.

Lu Wen's pupils contracted as he looked up at his hands as he felt a throbbing sensation of pain spread through them. The attack from earlier had almost managed to break both his arms!

Turning to look at her hand's Lu Wen was surprised. Her hands were weak-looking and had the soft textures of a young girl who had never worked in her life, yet those weak-looking hands almost managed to break both his hands!

Lu Wen felt a slight shiver go through him as he saw Yi Xuan getting ready to attack once again, he did not dare underestimate her again and decided to go all out. Showing her the respect that she deserved.

"Hah!" Letting out a low voice, Lu Wen felt himself suddenly powerup, he had managed to breakthrough in his body cultivation method just after Yi Xuan hit him and managed to reach the next realm.

Xuan Hao had a speechless look as he wondered whether he could powerup while fighting as well. Maybe he would also be able to do something like that in the future?

Or was powering up a privilege for some destined main characters? Xuan Hao honestly had no clue, even with all the memories of the past Xuan Hao that he merged with, there was nothing about people powering up after being beaten up.

Wang Hu was no better as he looked on speechless as Lu Wen broke through from the eighth stage of the Qi Condensation Realm to the ninth stage.

"What the hell…" Yi Xuan was just as speechless as she looked at Lu Wen. Sitting down not knowing what to do, she decided to wait for him to finish his breakthrough.

After being surprised by Lu Wen's sudden breakthrough, everyone turned their attention onto the other stages. After all, a breakthrough took time… In some cases, a breakthrough could even take hours, as the cultivator would need to stabilise his realm after the breakthrough.

Soon the second round of the competition finished as the third one soon began, Lu Wen had still not finished as he was automatically disqualified, causing Yi Xuan to move on to the third round of the competition.

Xuan Hao looked weirdly at the still cultivating Lu Wen, he probably thought people would wait for him to finish his breakthrough or something.

Xuan Hao even started feeling a little pity for him as some of the elders carried him out of the stage and sat him down on the ground, so other contestants could use the space.

Following Lu Wen's sad ending in the competition, both Qing Yi and Yi Xuan managed to win all their coming fights and ended up facing each other in the final.

"Hm? Where am I? Didn't I breakthrough on the stage earlier?"

It was only when the elder announced for Qing Yi and Yi Xuan to make their way to the first stage and fight it out that Lu Wen woke up from his breakthrough.

"Ah, what is Yi Xuan doing on stage 1? Weren't we just fighting?" Clearly not knowing what was happening, Lu Wen looked confusedly at Yi Xuan and Qing Yi making their way onto stage 1.

"Ah, as you were not able to fight back in the second round, you were disqualified from the tournament!" A kind elder walked up to Lu Wen and explained his situation to him.

"Hah? Disqualified? Why was I disqualified? Couldn't you just wait for me to finish breaking through?!" Feeling aggrieved upon hearing he was disqualified, Lu Wen looked annoyed and frustrated.

"Why would we do that? We also have things to do other than watching a tournament… You took over two hours to breakthrough, who would want to wait that long doing nothing…?" Raising an eyebrow, the elder looked annoyed as he explained to Lu Wen before making his way back towards the other elders watching the tournament.

Xuan Hao and Wang Hu both caught wind of this conversation and looked at each other.

"Hehe, good luck with your new disciple Wang Hu… hehe!"

"This damnable brat… How can someone suddenly turn arrogant like that…? Oh no! Maybe he has a personality disorder as well!?" Lamenting at the various problems that his new disciple had, Wang Hu wondered whether it was really worth it for the Flying Sword Sect… Even if he was talented.

Xuan Hao decided not to frustrate Wang Hu anymore, as he looked like he was about to go down and beat up Lu Wen at any moment…

What would happen to Lu Wen when Wang Hu took him in as a disciple, if he already wanted to beat him up before taking him in…?

Xuan Hao wondered how Lu Wen would survive as he turned and look towards stage 1 where Qing Yi was preparing for the final fight.

In this tournament she had done well and shown that she knew how to fight, even impressing her fellow disciples.
