996 Punishing the Winged Lion



Not paying any attention to the large number of Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts who were still alive and currently looking towards him filled with happiness at his return, Xuan Hao placed his two disciples back on the ground before turning around and going back through the thin barrier separating his old pavilion from the mystic realm.

And soon, he found himself back inside of the mystic realm. The guardian formation that had blocked him before was now doing nothing to stop him from entering the mystic realm.

"The robe that the elder from the Mirage Sect gave me actually allows me to enter the mystic realm even with a cultivation base above the normal level allowed by the formation!" As a surprised expression flashed across his face as he muttered this to himself back inside the mystic realm, Xuan Hao could not help wondering what else the robe could do.

Given that it was the robe of an elder from the mystic realm who had far surpassed the Soul Ascension Realm, it wouldn't be surprising if the robe also had some defensive properties that would help ensure it didn't easily get destroyed. 

Although these defensive properties might not be that useful to an elder of the Mirage Sect who might even have surpassed the Earth Immortal Realm, they would be extremely useful for someone like himself who had not yet reached the Earth Immortal Realm.

"I should test out the robe and see if I can find out more about it after returning to the sect…" Muttering this to himself as he scanned the area around where the exit of the mystic realm was located, Xuan Hao left behind a small part of his power to inform him in case any powerful demon beast appeared and attempted to break out of the mystic realm before making his way back to his pavilion where his two disciples and the large number of Nascent Soul Realm demon beast he had caught close to a month earlier were located.

Although, when he had glanced across the Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts present on his old mountain peak, it was rather obvious that a large number of them were missing. Making a certain winged lion demon beast in charge of watching over these demon beasts the main suspect of this missing demon beast case.

Landing back on his old mountain peak in front of his old pavilion where he had put down his two unconscious disciples just a few seconds earlier, Xuan Hao turned his attention towards a certain large, winged lion sleeping on a large stone with the sun shinning down on it from above.

Even after having returned, it seemed like the winged lion demon beast hadn't noticed him yet and was still sleeping peacefully in the sun. 

As for the remaining Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts, none of them dared to take this chance to try and escape from the mountain peak, likely due to the winged lion demon beast having done this before to try and get as many of them try to escape…

So… This is how it ended up eating so many of the Nascent Soul Realm demon beast… Haaa… What an oversight on my part…

Understanding that the winged lion demon beast had not broken any of the rules he had put down for it before hastily entering the mystic realm, Xuan Hao could not help shaking his head in defeat.

Although the winged lion demon beast looked rather dumb, it didn't seem to be that dumb when it came to figuring out how to get its claws on more food…

Waking up at this moment, the winged lion demon beast lazily stretched its body as it scanned across the different Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts before letting out a disappointed sound after discovering that none of them had tried to escape.

However, just as the winged lion demon beast was about to lay down and sleep again, it discovered Xuan Hao standing not too far away from it with a somewhat annoyed expression on his face.

Having somewhat understood the reason for the annoyed expression that had made its way to its master's face, the winged lion demon beast began to slowly retreat down from its sunbathing stone before beginning to descend the mountain peak-

"Wait right there! Didn't you forget your reward for watching over these Nascent Soul Realm demon beast for the past month?"

However, before the winged lion demon beast could leave, it felt its entire body being grabbed by some unknown force as it felt itself being dragged back up the mountain peak.

Roar! Roar, roar! Roooar!

During the process of being dragged back up the mountain, it tried its best to communicate that it didn't need any kind of reward for its job, but all of this was useless as it soon found itself face to face with its master again.

However, different from the annoyed expression from before, he now had an ominous smile that made the winged lion feel a shiver run down its spine, as it began to regret tempting so many of the Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts into escaping...

"Now, I should repay you properly for keeping so many of the Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts alive." Narrowing his eyes dangerously at the winged lion demon beast as he said this, Xuan Hao decided to punish it and make sure that it wouldn't do something like this again.

Even if around half of the Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts were still alive, the winged lion demon beast had still ended up eating more than thirty of them.

Although it might not be worth anything to him personally, it was not the same for the Star Shattering Sect!

After all, demon beasts were not only useful for transportation and fighting but were also extremely useful when it came to helping the disciples of the sect train and prepare themselves for when they would encounter demon beasts while out adventuring. Not to mention, the current Star Shattering Sect was in a period of rapid growth and was in dire need of things like powerful demon beasts that would help in the training of not only the disciples, but also the Nascent Soul Realm elders.

Knowing that there was no way for it to escape punishment, the winged lion demon beast could only let out a pitiful roar as Xuan Hao took a step forward and began giving it a lesson it would not forget…

Soon, only the painful roar of the winged lion demon beast echoed out from Xuan Hao's old mountain peak.

At the same time, the Nascent Soul Realm demon beasts still left on the mountain were enjoying the sight of the winged lion demon beast finally getting what it deserved.

As the painful roars of the winged lion demon beast continued until the sun was replaced by the moon in the sky, the disciples and elders present in the Flying Sword Sect all began discussing the matter with each other.

Not wasting a second after it was let go, the winged lion demon beast let out a pitiful roar before flapping its large wings and escaping in the direction of the Star Shattering Sect…
