Chapter 30 Sky Scraper
Serenity's POV
2 months.
2months of hell.
I sat in the middle of Rham’s room reading one of his books. It has been a month since he had joined me in this little piece of hell on earth that they have so lovingly built for me.
Now, I was allowed to walk around the garden, with or without anyone’s supervision, as long as I had a piece of silver on me. my wounds had healed after I used the moon drop during the last full moon.
I sighed and looked outside my room, a bird was building a nest on the branch outside my window.
I frowned, why build a home in a hell hole?
Then the door opened and in came Rham with another man.
“Serenity, this is Dr. Charles, he specializes on, uhm, cases like yours…” He says, sitting beside me. I just stared at the man.
“I’m a friend of Rham’s.” he smiled, “He had told me everything that happened, I told him that you might need a psychological help-“ I frowned, “Not that you are crazy or anything, he says, its just… what happened, what you’ve gone through…”
I rolled my eyes and looked at Rham who gave me a smile that I’ve been too familiar with these past few days, apologetic.
“Would you mind?” Dr. Charles asked taking out one of those wooden popsicles to check on my throat.
I crossed my arms over my chest and clamped my mouth shut.
Yes, I do mind, thank you very much.
Rham shrugged, “Serenity, please, you’re scaring me-“
I gave him a glare before I dropped back in bed and hid my face on the pillow.
Yeah, it was stupid and childish taking Liam’s advice literally.
“Serenity…”
I shook my head roughly still not looking up from the pillow.
He sighed and I felt him stand. “I’m sorry Charles, maybe she is shocked.”
I relaxed hearing them step out of the room, as the memory of a particular night with them.

A week ago, I sat upright on Rham’s bed when I heard footsteps outside, I closed the book I was reading and looked up at the door. Rham’s father, Frank, who is also called Scar by some of his men, stepped inside with the same two man who had took me to watch that both happy and disturbing film a month ago.
Rham instantly stood up beside the bed, dropping the book on the bed. “What do you need now?”
“Another special viewing.” His father says with a smirk at me.
“No thank you.” I said.
“But I think you’ll like it.”
I glared at him, “I said no thank you.”
He frowned, “Too bad, and after they’ve tried so hard of finding you…”
I sat up feeling a light sting through my torso but I kept my anger in tact, not showing a drop of fear against him.
“I seem to have spark an interest.” He says and moved to the window, “Though I do love to document every kill, this one I would share with you live.”
Goosebumps ran through my arm as the guard grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the bed.
“Hey be careful!” Rham snaps when I hit my knee on the bed side table.
The guard, Hal, just snorted at him and pushed me toward the window, I looked down at the familiar garden outside, but this time I saw three bloody men, tied with silver chains kneeling in the middle.
I frowned; one of them was Jim, the head of father’s guards.
“Something you know?” Frank asked.
“Let them go,” I said, “we have a deal.”
He answered me with a sarcastic laugh, “I don’t think I agree with anything princess.” I glared at him. “You haven’t been much use to us-“
“My presence here keeps you safe from my kind.” I said.
“Safe from your kind?” he stifled another laugh, “Don’t be stupid, what kept them away is because we’re too far from them.” He looked back at the three men outside, “With the looks of it, they are already looking for you. Maybe looking for some proof that you are still alive.” He gave me an amused look, “Is your bond with your mate weakening already princess?”
“Let them go.” I commanded.
He glared at me now. “Then tell me what I need to know.”
I looked back and forth, I was desperate.“I will when you have let them go and given me proof that they are home.”
“I’m not stupid-“
“You couldn’t have fooled me.” That earned me another slap, his silver ring forming another scar on my face. I caught myself before landing on my injuries again. He then grab me by the hair and pulled me back on my feet.
“Let her go!” Rham shouts; I hear one of the guards shove him down to the ground.
Frank then opens the window and pushed me half way out. I screamed in pain making the three shifters outside look up.
“Princess!” I heard Jim groan.
“Please…” I begged Frank, “I’ll do whatever you want, just please let them go!”
“No princess!” Jim shouts, a hunter hits him again.
“No is right.” Frank laughs, “Thinking about it, I no longer care if they come and attack me when I send them your head.” He then tightens his hold on my hair, “But a warning would make it more interesting, don’t you think?”
I gave him a questioned look, and then he glanced back at the shifters downstairs.
“Princess, don’t listen to him…” Jim shouts, “I trust-“
A loud bang silenced him.
My eyes grew wide and I felt my heart beat faster as another gun shot rang through the air and another.
I watch as the bodies of the guards drop on the ground, head blown.
“No…” I said in a whisper as I start to shake all over.
“Their heads would be a nice addition on my wall,” Frank whispered in my ear, “too bad I’m gonna send it to your brother.”
He let go of my hair, and I had to grab the side of the window to support myself.
“Consider this as warning, Serenity.” Frank says, “If you don’t stop going against me, I will kill your brother.”
I kept my eyes on the three bodies outside my window. When I saw another hunter step up to them holding a bolo, he stared up at me and smirked, as he raised it up and swung it down on the corpses.
I moved away from the window and started screaming on the top of my lungs, only when I dropped on my knees did I noticed that I was crying and shaking.
I felt and arm around me, but I moved and pushed Rham away and I continued to scream as I move away from Rham. He raised his hand and was talking, but I couldn’t hear him. His mouth was moving and I know I was screaming, but I couldn’t hear anything. All I could see was Jim’s death, the bodies.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*end.of.flashback~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Since that day, I haven’t spoken one word, not even to Rham, that was why he started to bring doctors to check on me. He was scared that my shouting and screaming could have torn something in my vocal chords causing me to turn mute.
If he only knew.
Somehow, the death of Jim and the others gave me a reason to push through with my plan.
I was unable to save them. With or without Josephine, my words couldn’t save them. In fact, my words could have just made matters worse. I sighed and stared at the ceiling.
Right now, shutting up was the only thing I can do to help, or kill myself. But seeing as I have promised Liam I won’t.
I sighed again.
“Can’t you just give me one day to check if you are physically ok?”
I looked up and saw Rham standing at the door. I sat up, crossed my arms over my chest.
“Sernity its been two weeks, if you are doing this on purpose then just stop it.”
I gave him a look, or what?
He shrugged, “You know I don’t like scaring you Serenity.”
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the book and propped myself up on the head board, continuing to read.
“Serenity…” he walked up to me. Then he snatched the book and threw it on the other end of the bed, I glared at him again. “Serenity look, I’ll be leaving in a few weeks, I can’t just leave you like this.”
I just stared at him, as much as I didn’t want him to leave, I can’t really rely on the son of my captor, that just wouldn’t be right.
“You have to tell me what you are thinking about.” I remained quiet, my face straight. “Serenity work with me here.”
I shook my head and crawled toward the other side of the bed and got down.
“Serenity can you please just work with me here.” he begged. I grabbed my book and walked to the door and opened the door. Of course, my walk out drama was ruined by a huge chest on my face.
I fell on my butt and looked up with a glare to the idiot who set himself outside my door.
“What do you want now?” Rham asks, quickly moving toward me and helped me up, but I pushed away from him quickly and he just shrugged off my gesture.
“The boss wants to see her.”
“Why can’t he come here?”
“Cause the last time he did that you threatened to cut him off of our financial-“
“It’s my money.” Rham said.
Yeah. For some reason, his mother named all her assets under Rham instead of his dad, I guess she was just saving for his marriage, but then again, she was an heiress of some big time business man somewhere in America, I don’t really keep track of the facts anymore, bottom line, it was that exact riches why his father was given the position of the head of the hunters.
I asked him why he does it. he just shrugged and said, he can’t actually just leave his dad. But he never knew about the kidnapping and killing until three girls ago.
Yeah, great! That’s helpful.
“No, she is staying in this room-“
I turned to him and gave him a light hit on the arm.
“Serenity, can you just-“
I slapped my hand over his mouth and gave him another look. Let me do this.
He met my eye contact with a firm look of his own, but c’mon! I was born an alpha, and eye contact with humans was way too easy. To prove it, he rolled his eyes and turned to Hal.
“Let her walk on her own.” He said, “Don’t touch her again.”
Hal just shook his head and gave me a disgusted look, “This way, princess.” He says sarcastically.
I gave him a fake smile and raised my hand up at him, gesturing him to kiss it.
He rolled his eyes and did as told earning a chuckle from Rham, Hal glares at him again.
Hal walks off, pissed. I turned to Rham and gave him a satisfied smile.
“Fine, you can keep up with this silent treatment for the rest of the day, but I’m gonna give it another try tomorrow.”
I rolled my eyes and followed Hal, Rham on my heels.
I walked into Frank’s office as if a owned the place he was standing by the corner of the room pouring himself a drink, I grinned and plopped myself on his chair and propped my legs up on his table.
He raised a brow at me. “Someone’s confident.”
I raised my shoulders, looking bored. He chuckles and shook his head, “If you aren’t my enemies daughter, I would have wanted you to be my daughter.”
I should win an award ‘cause right now, I was scared to death. Not of him, but at the reason why he called for me.
“Well, we better put it down a notch shouldn’t we?” he says.
I raised a brow and he shoved a folder at me and I picked it up. I took a deep breath before I opened them. In an instant I frowned.
“It’s suppose to be good news, princess.” He says taking a sip.
I looked up at him with a glare.
“Your kind is surely an interesting raise, aren’t you?” he continues. “In two months time, and you already have an incoming bouncing baby nephew.” I flipped through the medical papers and went through a photo of the whole gang hugging Anna and Siam.
Automatically, my eyes landed on Eric who was staring at them with joy.
“Hopefully, this would change your mind.” Frank says, “The lives of a couple of shifters aren’t much of a price is it?”
I stared at the photo that radiates nothing but happiness and content. I felt my eyes sting as caged tears escape me.
“So what would it be Serenity?” he smirks. “Your service in exchange of the safety of your family…”
I stared at the photo in my trembling hands.
“You wouldn’t even need to do anything…” I felt him reach for my hair and run his hand through it, “you just have to look pretty and say you’re the princess, that’s how it works don’t it?”
I moved my sight to the letter cutter in front of me, I had no way out on this one, even silence can’t solve this… I thought.
A scent of me is all they need, no words is need be spoken.
I won’t be doing anything.
None of it will be my fault.
Right?
No.
But for now, it should be…
