Epilogue
Random Wolf's POV
I ran through the forest, letting a small yelp come out of me.
I look around as I pass by like a blur; I stifled a laugh as I run past a car that's supposed to be going on its highest gear.
Lame, I thought.
I continue to run to who knows where; I look over my shoulder and smile. If I were in my human form, I would probably be smiling and smug as I leave my friends way behind.
Slow down, show off. I hear one of them say.
Slowpokes! I teased and pushed forward.
I felt my heart skip an extra beat, losing myself with my wolf and the surrounding, totally in sync with earth.
That is until I caught the sweetest scent that I have ever come across. I stopped and looked around. My heart gave another extra beat as my feet slowly drag me to who knows where totally shutting out my common sense and just letting the scent overpower me.
Can it be her? I thought. It was about time that I get mated. According to my mother and friends, I was the only one in the family who haven't mated, and I was excited about it.
As the scent became more prominent, I felt a tingle in my nerves, both afraid and excited of what I would come across.
I look forward and finally saw a clearing. I heard a very low sob, low but continuous, deep, and painful.
I frowned and made my way to the clearing faster. Coming to the end of the trees, I had to squint for a moment to let my eyes adjust in the sudden bright light.
As my eyes set with the sudden brightness, my sight dropped in the middle of the clearing.
There I saw the most beautiful girl I've seen. Seeing how puffy her eyes were, it was clear that she was the source of the sobbing and the pain.
I walked up to her, and she just whimpered and shook her head.
I gazed straight into her eyes. If she was rogue, I had to shift to my human form to talk to her. I positioned myself to shift when she raised her hand.
“Don't." she quickly says.
My wolf gave her a look, let me through. I tell him, and let me shift back to my human form, kneeling before her.
"Are you ok?" when I looked back at her, she looked defeated.
"You shouldn't be here..." she said in a whisper as her eyes made a wild scan around us."Leave before it's too late."
"But you're-"
"Leave. It’s a command, shifter." she hissed.
I looked back at her and realized who it was.
"Princess..."
Suddenly her eyes widened, and she looked behind me. She grabbed my hand, but then I was pulled out of her reach by someone from behind, and in an instant, I felt something pierced on my side again and again.
I screamed in agony, and after the sixth stab, I was dropped in front of her. She laid her hand over my chest as she continued to cry.
"I'm sorry..." I heard her say in between tears over and over again.
And those were the last words I heard.
