Chapter 8 Counting Moments for Fate
Serenity's POV
“I swear I’m going to punish your father for this!” mother growled.
Ok, so maybe not so happy. Due to the fact that I lost weight my gown now looked like a hand me down from someone who was two sizes bigger than I am.
“Mom, calm down, Giselle said she can fix it in two hours, didn’t you G?” I turned to the seamstress who smiled at us. I gave her a pleading look. Wolf or not, I didn’t need my mom to be stressed right now.
“Of course, no problem, my lady.” The seamstress assured, “You know, you shouldn’t have gone to diet after having your final fitting, I mean you already were perfect then, not that you aren’t perfect now, good thing your bust size didn’t change much-“
“Thank you Giselle.” I cut in before she gets my mom angrier. “We’ll leave you to work now.”
“Oh, of course.” She said and hopped off to work.
I dragged my mom out of the room and stopped her before she can think of going back for last minute instructions that Giselle didn’t need.
We stopped in front of a window and faced her, “Mom, calm down. Everything will be fine.”
“But-“
“Not everything is dad’s fault.” I said, “I tried to starve myself to punish dad and it was stupid.”
“Honey, that wasn’t you trying,” she said, “that’s an effect of-“
“Shh, mom?” I slapped my hand over her mouth, which she slapped away as well.
“Serenity Claire Grey, you are never to do that to me or anyone, do you hear me young lady?” she snapped.
I sighed, “Yes mother.”
“Well, there is no easier way of finding you than have your name be shouted by your mother.”
We turned and saw the Liam, Jake and Aaron walking toward us.
“Hey you guys,” I walked up to them, “missed me?”
“Weird enough we did, princess.” Jake says then he tousled my hair, “Happy Birthday.”
“Aww you guys…” I laughed and gave them a quick hug, quick enough to not have those icy feeling.
“Aunt Serafin, should I dare greet you good morning or would that earn me a glare?”
My mom glared at him, “Young beta, I’m leaving my daughter in your hands, look for Anna, she will know what to do with her. Until the party I want you kids to be discreet, I don’t want anyone seeing her in her gown or her hair and make up.”
“Mom, it’s just my birthday, you can go all crazy mother of the bride when I do get married.”
“And that won’t be too long now, might as well rehearse.” She said as she storm back to where we left Giselle.
“Mom, go easy on Giselle!” I called and just waved her hand in response.
“What did you do now?” Aaron asked.
“Lost weight.” I whined, “Now my gown is a size bigger. Hell, I’ll probably have to tape it on me so it won’t fall.”
The boys laughed and we made our way to the kitchen where Siam and Anna were.
“There she is…” Siam ran up to me, picked me up and twirled me around.
I laughed, “Put me down Siam.”
He set me down on my feet, and then he raised his hands, a beautiful necklace hang in front of my face. “Happy Birthday.”
“Oh my God,” I gawked at the pendant which were angels wings from the looks of it, “It’s beautiful Siam.”
“And it will look more beautiful on you.” He said.
I looked up at him, “It’s mine?”
He laughed, “You do get gifts on your birthday, you know.”
“Oh my… thank you Siam, you are the best!” I threw my arms around his neck and I felt him hug me back.
“Anything to make you happy princess.” He whispered, then he let me go, “Turn around, I’ll put it on you.” After he had locked it I ran to the side of the room with a long mirror and stared at it.
Running my fingers over the stones that was now glistening in the sun light. Siam then appeared behind me, looking at me.
“It’s beautiful, big brother.”
“It’s for you to remember that you can always call on me when you need me baby sister.” He says, “Also, it represents who you are to me and to the whole kingdom, an angel who is about to spread her wings.”
“Siam…”
“The boys the other day made me think,” he cut me off, “they were right, you are to be married to an Alpha, we can’t just expect him to stay here with you, as his mate and the Luna of his pack you will have to go with him.”
“But it’s not as if I’ll never come for a visit.” I said, “You know I can’t stay away from you the boys and Anna for so long.”
He laughed and nodded, “And I’ll throw you the biggest parties whenever you visit.”
I walked up to him again and hugged him, “Thank you big brother.”
He hugged me back until I felt someone pulling me.
“As much as I hate to break this drama up,” Anna says, “we have a long itinerary today, Serenity. And we are running late with breakfast.
So we all sat for breakfast and soon, we were all over the place having our hair done- yes even the boys- , nails and make up- the boys missed this one out and stood there watching as they rant about how girls take too much time preparing.
Soon it was already time for the party. I was left with the maids as they helped me into my gown.
The ball room was magnificent, I’ve seen a lot of parties hosted in it, but it has never looked this good. Balls of lights hanging over head as if it was floating in air, the white see through drapes that shows the fairylike lights outside the balcony and the guests were dressed as if pulled out of a story book.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t given a chance to catch my breath or to admire the room any further as the alpha boys had surrounded me all asking for a dance, and since I stepped in the room they have handed me to each one, all walking away defeated. None of them was my mate, of course, I already know that.
“Thank you for the dance Luke,” I smiled, a genuine one tonight, “but I would very much like to rest for a while.”
“Of course.” He says, all hopes on his face at the beginning of the dance was gone. For them there was no connection, no spark whatsoever, for me it was cold.
He lead me back to my parents, the throne if you may, and sat beside mother who gave me an apologetic smile.
“Well?” I heard father ask.
“I think the answer to that is obvious enough Silver.” My mom hissed at him, annoyed.
“Mother…” I shook my head and she gave me a worried look. I knew she was upset with father, but she hasn’t told him. I massaged my temples, trying to lessen my headache.
Anna sat beside me and handed me a glass of water which was brought by a maid. “You ok?”
“Yeah,” I forced a smile, “just tired.”
“Maybe we should call for mama Ellena…” I heard mom say.
“She doesn’t need her.” father says, “Besides she has left.”
I looked up at him, “Left?”
“She said it will be better to take young Johansen home.”
“What?” I stood up, glaring at him. Some of the people around turned to us.
“He was taken home-“
“No, he couldn’t…” I shook my head, “He wouldn’t…”
“He is not even from pure lineage of alpha, Serenity.” He says, bored. “The reason he fights well is because he was brought up and adopted by alpha Johansen when he was just a boy. But that will not change the fact that he is a rogue.”
“It can’t be… He’s-“
“Forget him Serenity.” He commanded, “He is gone now and will never come back.”
Everything he said ran through my head, it wasn’t possible. He can’t be a rogue. I’m mated to him, I know I am. There had been no increase in the pain or cold, he was still near.
“Mother, I feel no change, he can’t have left-“
“The guards escorted them, I can assure you he has left.” Father says.
“Stop it Silver!” mother snapped and knelt beside me cupping my face, “Love, there are cases where in when the mates were separated at a very early stage of the mating, the bond wavers. The connection weakens.”
I shook my head, then I realized what my father did.
“You knew…” I said in almost a whisper, “You knew about the mating and you do not approve of it…”
“You’re right, I do not.“ he says without care.
“You promised!” I shouted, “You said if I do what you want you will not send him home! An alpha’s word is his honor, where is yours father?!”
“I will not be spoken to like this Serenity,” he snarled, “you may be my daughter but I will not tolerate such disrespect!”
“You dare speak of respect with me father?!” I snarled back, “You do not even know the word!”
“Serenity calm down-“
“No!” I shouted at Siam, “I have had enough of this! Eric is my mate and I will not have him be treated like this!”
“I will not change my orders.” he said, “You are to stay here until the fate finds you a more suitable mate. One that will be loyal and-“
“Then order for my death now father, for I am guilty of treason!”
People gasped all around me. He glared at me, I knew he was thinking of what to do, something to save me from my own words.
“No act is found-“
“I think the want to kill you is enough.” I snarled.
“Stop pushing her Silver!” Mother warned. “She is unstable, she can shift-“
“I will never shift!” I shouted. “I refuse to do so without my mate!”
“Well we can’t have that now, can we?”
