Chapter 22 FINDING THE TRUTH
When Mary came to Riana's home along with Sheila, they were both shocked at what they saw. They didn't find anyone there. It was like they had packed out of there or something and no neighbor was willing to tell them of Riana's family whereabouts either.
"Coward. She knew I'd come for her. You better keep running bitch. For no one will save you." Mary said and Shelia laughed. "I told you she'd run away with her family too. Let's go back to school." Shelia mocked. When the new besties went back to school, Mary felt her studies were flopping. She tried to catch up but the social lifestyle of Shelia over her was too overwhelming.
She started smoking and engaging in sex with many guys in campus, including lecturers. She fucked those male lecturers so she could pass her exams. However, she still tried to call Richard but he never picked up her calls. It was frustrating for her because she loved him and her revenge for Riana started waning.
Mary wasn't the kind of girl that could hold a grudge for so long. She's a carefree girl and trouble wasn't her thing. Though, she could get angry, but it won't last longer with her.
She was feeling sorry for her life as Riana's words flashed back into her memory, especially the aspect of being a cheap whore. She knew she had to cut the friendship with Sheila as soon as possible but she lacked the confidence to do it.
And Sheila never gave her a breathing space. Always hooking her with one rich or handsome dude to keep her company. Well, all those moments were fun but she felt her dream of becoming a lawyer was slowly fading away.
While she was relaxing in her parlour, sipping a glass of wine on her right hand, Shelia jumped on her and said, "Guess what babe."
"What? Another guy for me to fuck this weekend." Mary answered in a negligent tone. "No, guess again." Sheila tried to cheer her up on the couch.
"You found a tycoon who can spend heavily on me for one night stand." Mary's eyes showed she didn't care.
"No! My boyfriend has gotten back to me. He accepted me back yesterday after I explained some things to him." Sheila said.
"Really? Congratulations. So may I know what you told him that made him accept you back?" Mary started showing interest in the good news.
"No, don't worry, it's love stuff. So what're you doing now?" Sheila tried to change the subject.
"Why did you both separate in the first place? Besides, you're just telling me that you've a boyfriend. But we spend most of our time together and I never knew you had someone in your life. Are there any other things you're hiding from me? (Mary paused a while.) I told you about Richard and my personal life a few days after we met, but you're just telling me this now. It's not cool girl. That's not the sis code." Mary felt disappointed.
"You're taking this thing too seriously. What's bad if I never told you everything about my life? Do you think I trust everyone? Well, I'm not that dumb you know." Sheila defended herself.
Her response infuriated Mary that she smashed the glass of wine with her on the floor. "I can't believe I'm hearing this from you. Well, no problem, if that's how you want it, then you're no longer my friend. As we both know, friends should be open to each other. It's either you tell me everything I need to know about you now, or this friendship is over!" Mary raised her voice.
"Oh, really? Fine! Fine!! I'm leaving your house. You can't make me do your wish. I'm not bound by this friendship bullshit, Bitch. When you're cool, call me. I know you'll." Sheila winked as she left Mary's house and jammed the door behind her.
At that point Mary knew something was fishy with Shelia so she made her investigations for
weeks and discovered that she was the reason Riana and her were never friends again. She cried for minutes because she really missed the unique moments she spent with Riana. Riana was a true friend.
Riana really assisted her to get closer towards her dream of becoming a lawyer during the 1st year they met. She passed all her results with hard work. Now, that shedevil, Shelia came and made her life a dustbin for guys to fuck and go.
She felt she was worth slacking as she cried for minutes looking at her miserable self in the mirror. She wished the mirror was shattered so it could show her sadness in broken pieces. She realized that Joshua became the top student since Riana was taken out of the way and everything became clearer to her.
"So this is why that girl caused a conflict between me and Riana. Hmmm, she thinks she's smart. Now I feel so bad. I must look for Riana and apologize to her at all costs. I've wronged that angel.
I only hope her foster parents will forgive me too because I'm the reason she's no longer in school now. She must have been scared of me with the company I was keeping. I need to double my effort in finding her. I need her forgiveness. But I must be very careful not to be seen by Prince. And as for Sheila, she'll pay for it." Riana soliloquized and set a plan.
She tried to call Richard with another phone number and he finally picked up the call. But immediately, he heard her voice, so he cut the call. Mary was sad so she sent him a text message and explained everything to him. Richard saw it and gave her a call. While they're talking, Mary was crying and begging him to reconnect him with Riana.
Richard promised her that he would first ask her foster parents' permission before helping her. Mary's plea really touched his heart that it almost left a tear on his eyes. So they hung up the call and Richard gave Riana's foster parents a call afterwards and narrated everything to them.
When Riana heard it, her stony heart slowly became fleshy. She decided to call Mary herself and told her to promise to halt her lifestyle and be decent if they must become friends again. Mary agreed and they both decided to see each other in school soon.
Richard was glad that the two friends were back again and he thought of how he could get Prince and make him pay for all his sins. All he needed was evidence and all the months he spent working hadn't given him any clue to implicate him. He started thinking if Prince was so evil as people portrayed him as he was starting to lose interest in the case.
