Chapter 29 THE ARREST

While Richard left his friends, he went to report everything to late Rose's parents and they were surprised. Although, they didn't like the aspect of him trying to seduce Riana at all cost even if he paid a huge sacrifice for the capture of Prince.

However, they begged him to reconsider and make amends with his female counterparts, but he refused and said he was out of Rose's case. He angrily left their presence and promised to never come back. It really pained Rose's parents. They thought of informing his parents about the whole situation, but when they did, it didn't turn out well too.

"So you mean my son should risk his life over your late daughter? No way! You people must have brainwashed him, but I'm glad he is back to his senses. Please don't ever bring this matter up again." Richard's father angrily said in the meeting.

Richard's mother never supported the idea of his son risking his life for a dead girl either so they decided to quickly take their leave.

"Okay, I understand your view but at least, help us beg your son to give us the flash drive so we can take a step further in putting our enemy behind bars." Mr James requested.

"With due respect my friend, if my son decides not to give you the device, then there's nothing I can do about it. He's not a child anymore so he has every right to maintain his decision. Come Felicia, (Richard's mother) let's take our leave." Richard's father replied.

Then it dawned on the couple that the family never cared about their late daughter in the first place. They told Riana about everything when she visited and she advised them to forget about Richard's family.

Richard didn't want to do any job that would make Prince or his boys know his whereabouts. As a matter of fact, he deleted all his social media accounts and avoided the online world at all costs.

Those days, he lived with his parents and he was starting to feel as a burden to them. His parents were average earners. He knew he couldn't continue relying on them for his feeding so he had to look for a job. He wouldn't go for any less paying job, so he started dropping his applications on top of complaints around his area.

The more he looked for jobs, the more he got paranoid of bumping into Prince's boys or anyone who could harm him. But he needed to survive despite all odds so he still persevered. He was called for an interview by some companies but it was unsuccessful.

He wanted to just give up and almost commit suicide as he started blaming himself for interfering into Rose's death. If not, he would have been a free bird who could search for jobs anywhere he wanted without any fear.

However, a still voice within his head told him to not give up, because there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes he would feel he should give Prince a call and exchange the flash drive for some cool cash, only if he (Prince) agrees to let him go scot free, but he killed such thoughts because it was too dangerous. Besides, he doesn't want to remember anything that has to do with Prince again.

And as the weeks went by, Richard finally got a job as a waiter from a new five star restaurant called El Placer not too far from his home. He was doing great with the job until one day when Prince visited there to have his lunch. He quickly recognized him as his heart jumped.

He couldn't attend to him so he told his colleague that he wanted to use the toilet. His colleague took his place and attended to the customers. Prince however, left the restaurant when he was done and drove off. He was with two bodyguards and a beautiful woman who probably was his P.A.

When Richard who hid in some corner saw that the threat had left the scene, he slowly crawled out of the shadows and continued his task, however, his eyes was on the lookout for him incase if he returned again.

His concentration was divided and it affected his job. Sometimes when the customers order the kind of meal they wanted, he would still ask them what they wanted severally like an absent-minded employees and it really pissed them off.

The manager soon noticed it and apologized to the angry customer. Another waiter was told to attend to the customer and Richard was called to explain his sudden unprofessional behavior in the manager's office.

"Mr. Richard, what's wrong with you today? Do you want a day off or something? Are you sick? What's troubling your mind? Please speak to me." The manager asked.

Richard bowed his head in remorse and said, "I'm very sorry sir. I think I really need a day off or two. I just started feeling ill and it's affecting my concentration. I might need to see a doctor."

"Yeah, you definitely should do so and please resume work as soon as your leave of absence is completed. I'm giving you 3 days off. Good bye Mr. Richard and take care." The manager said.

"Thank you very much Sir." Richard appreciated it as he left the office and headed towards home. He told his parents about the incident and they advised him to give the flash drive to the police as soon as possible before Prince gets ahead of him.

He agreed but he thought of carrying out the task alone without involving his former counterparts. So during those days off, he went to the police and they got the flashdrive. The D.P.O who attended to him was officer Joe. When he saw the video from his laptop, he smiled and said, "Checkmate. Finally I got my hands on this imbecile."

Richard was surprised when he heard that, so he asked if officer Joe knew Prince before and the reply he got made him feel very comfortable.

"Thank you very much for assisting the police. You're very lucky that the device landed on the right hand. I've been on Prince's tail for a long time. I'm pretty sure he was the one that arranged for my transfer here, little did he know that he has only given me an ample opportunity to put an end to all his evildoings. Don't worry, I'll arrange for his arrest right away. He won't get away with this." Officer Joe smiled.

"Okay sir, but what about my safety? I hope the police will protect me from his wrath. And I hope I'm not making a mistake because if that man knows my whereabouts, he might kill my entire family or blackmail me." Richard shivered.

"Yeah, you're definitely right about that. I'll send my best officers to protect you and watch for any attack from him. You don't need to worry, my friend. You just gave me what I need to finish this war between me and him. Once again, I appreciate your bravery." Officer Joe said.

"So are you saying I can resume work and my safety is guaranteed?" Richard asked.

"Yes, you have nothing to worry about Mr. Richard,'' said officer Joe.

Then officer Joe collected every detail he needed from Richard in order to fulfill his promise. He called some officers right in Richard's presence and assigned them to secretly follow him around in their mufti so they could catch Prince's boys unawares.

After that, he sent a few officers to Prince's house to arrest him.
