An Adorable Kid
The stranger left to bathe in his own room after instructing a servant regarding breakfast preparations. Meanwhile, Diana went to bathe while rejecting the offer of the beautiful maid to help her.
Once Diana was done, the beautiful maid helped her get dressed and dried her hair. The stranger returned once Diana was fully dressed and breakfast was served in her room.
They were silently eating breakfast when they heard a commotion outside the room. They heard the sound of someone running.
"No. Put me down. I wanna see my Mommy," Diana heard a child's voice. For some unknown reason, her heart raced at the sound of that little voice. Just hearing that cute little voice made her want to see the child and carry him in her embrace.
"Young master, you should be in your room," another voice said. It was the female knight who had been standing guard on Diana's door.
"No. I want to see my Mommy. Is mommy still sick? I am worried about Mommy," the child responded. He had such a cute voice that Diana thought that he must be an adorable child.
"Her Majesty is feeling better so Young Master does not have to worry. His Majesty is currently with Her Majesty so please return to your room first. I am sure they would visit you soon if you behave well, Young Master," another female voice that perhaps belonged to another maid gently chided and comforted the boy.
Diana froze at those words. 'Did they mean me and this stranger? Does that mean that this couple has a child? This is not good. I have to return to my own body as soon as possible. That child must be feeling lonely after not seeing his Mom.'
"B-but I want to see my Mommy. D-does Mommy not want me anymore?"
Hearing that the child sounded like he was scared, Diana had the urge to stand and open the door so she could comfort the boy. Her chest tightened at the sadness in the child's voice.
"Mommy! Mommy! I miss Mommy," the boy screamed this time. The boy started crying and begging to see his Mommy.
Hearing that, Diana's body moved on its own. She had run to the door and was about to open it when the stranger beat her to it. They both stopped and stared at each other for a second before the stranger finally opened the door for both of them.
Her breath caught at the scene before her. Another beautiful maid had an angelic young boy in her arms. He looked like he was about two or three years old. He had gorgeous white locks and adorable green eyes.
However, tears were streaming down his cheeks. Diana felt so bad for the boy that she thought that whoever made the little boy cry should just go and bury themselves alive.
"Mommy!" the boy beamed upon seeing her and his gloomy and sulking face instantly brightened. He simply looked so adorable and charming as he stretched his hands out asking to be carried and loved.
"My Baby! I missed you so much," Diana said as she gathered the boy into her embrace and hugged him tightly. "Mommy missed you so much," she said as she hugged the boy and gently stroked his hair. The boy hugged her back with his little arms and cried with his face buried against her chest.
"I thought Mommy no longer wanted me," the boy said looking up at her and asking for verification that he was still wanted.
"That will never happen. Mommy always loves you. I want to keep you beside me all the time," Diana replied and kissed the boy on the forehead and the little one finally smiled.
"See, I told you your Mommy was just busy the past days," the stranger said as he dried the boy's tears with his thumb. The boy nodded contentedly. And then a thought seemed to have crossed his mind. The boy stared at his father before finally speaking.
"Does Daddy also love me as Mommy does?" the boy tilted his head slightly as he waited for the answer.
"Of course. You and your Mommy are my treasures," the stranger said and ruffled the boy's hair. He had a gentle and loving smile on his face that Diana could tell he was speaking truthfully.
Their eyes met and the stranger beamed at Diana. He looked so happy for some reason. Diana blinked when she realized that it must have been because they looked like a happy family right then and how she treated the little boy.
She suddenly became conscious of the smile on all the servants' faces. They seemed happy that their masters were getting along well. Diana blushed and looked away.
Diana herself did not even understand why she did what she had done or why she said all those words to the boy. It just happened like it was natural. Her body moved on its own while her mouth spoke before her mind worked.
'Perhaps it was the body acting on motherly instinct. It reacted so strongly to its child. She must be worried sick about her child. We need to return to our bodies soon,' Diana thought as they walked back into her room with the boy in her arms.
"Have you eaten?" Diana asked the boy as she sat him on her lap. The boy was simply too adorable to not love. It was love at first sight for her. 'I wish I had a son like this boy,' she thought.
"Not yet. I wanted to eat with Mommy. May I?" The boy looked up with shining eyes and he was just too adorable that everyone in the room was charmed. It suddenly felt like a sin not to let the child dine with his mother.
"Of course, you can," Diana could not help but agree. She wanted to pamper the little boy.
"Bring his meal here," the stranger instructed the boy's maid and she scurried out of the room in a hurry.
Diana stroked the boy's hair as they waited for the maid to return and he clung to her tightly. She kissed the boy's forehead once again. She found the boy truly lovely.
He had green eyes just like the eyes of the body she was in and white hair like that of the stranger beside her. The boy was obviously the child of the couple. He was a mini version of his father. Only his eyes were from his mother.
Diana felt envious. She herself had been longing for a child. She and Kristoph had been looking forward to having a child of their own ever since they got married. But it had been years since then but they were still not fruitful. A visit to a doctor had informed them that conception was difficult though not impossible. Kristoph said that he did not mind, but Diana had often caught him enviously eyeing other people's children.
"Mommy, why do I have to eat different food?" the boy distracted her from her thoughts. She did not really know what was the food for the boy but it must have been something more appropriate for toddlers. The boy was too young for a full course meal.
"That's because you are still my baby. You have to eat different food so you would grow tall and strong like your father."
"Really? I can be like Daddy?" the boy looked like he had stars in his eyes at the thought of becoming like his father. He was obviously awed by his father.
"Of course. You can even be better than your Dad," Diana encouraged.
"Then I can protect Mommy too?"
"Keeping you and your Mommy safe is my job so all you have to do is grow up," the boy's father butted in.
"But I want to protect Mommy too," the boy insisted. He looked so determined that he might not back down no matter what his father said.
"Sure. But you have to grow up first. So wait for your meal patiently."
The boy was reminded of the food and he stared at all the food on the table. His curiosity was once again peaked.
"B-but I want to try what Mommy and Daddy are eating," the boy appealed to Diana with begging eyes.
"Such a curious one," Diana giggled. She could not possibly say no when the boy looked too adorable. "Sure, you can taste our food. But just a little okay?"
"Yay! Yes, Mommy," the boy hugged Diana and kissed her on the cheek.
'Oh my god! This boy is simply too charming. How could he do this to a woman like me who had been longing for a child to pamper?' Diana embraced the boy and kissed him on the cheek too.
"Then what would you like to try?" she asked when the boy finally settled down.
The boy stared at all the food in deep thought like he was battling with himself. He first pointed at the meat then at the colorful fruits and vegetables. He ended up pointing at every dish.
"Alright. But just a bit so you won't get a stomachache," Diana giggled as the boy nodded earnestly with shining eyes. He eyed the food excitedly.
Diana cut a portion of the meat on her and ate it to check if its temperature and tenderness were just right. When it was alright she cut a small portion and fed it to the little boy.
"Chew it slowly," she instructed as the boy enjoyed the meat. Diana smiled in approval when the boy also liked the vegetables.
The boy's own meal came shortly after and the three of them ate together. After the meal, the boy played around until he fell asleep and was brought into his own room.
