Despised her situation!
Jada Wilson
Jada eyed Ivan, "I would soon start looking for the perfect spot, meanwhile, because when I return from visiting home with Aubrianne after the ball, I plan to dive straight into this."
Ivan focused on the file before him rather than what Jada said. He was intent on seeing what would take his Jada away from him.
Jada was brains and beauty. Ivan loved it. When he saw her plans, he could not have been more impressed and a bit surprised, he had to admit.
And he immediately started thinking about the ideal spots for something like this, and a business like that would undoubtedly thrive in TL.
The Thornton Household
"Damn it, Christen, I am here, aren't I?" Theodore snapped! Closing the folder he held in his hands and slamming it down on his vast mahogany desk.
His nagging wife was the last thing he wanted to deal with this Monday morning. He went to his home office to grab a few client files and head to TCTA when he was bombarded by his wife and her never-ending complaints about something he could not give her.
Theo sat behind his desk rubbing his temples when...
"Are you? Theo, are you really here? With me?" Christen asked in an exasperated tone. Her hands went up in the air as she looked up, then shook her head.
Theo did not answer. Eyebrows furrowed, and eyes narrowed at the contents on his desk. He was not finding the file he needed.
He picked up another file and flipped through the pages, then tapped a few keys on the keypad of his MacBook, completely ignoring Christen in hopes she would just give up and leave like she usually does when she realizes or accepts that he is not going to entertain this any longer.
Whatever this was, they have been having this recurring argument since a year ago.
Christen scoffed, "I thought that once you got over the fact that Athalia was dead, you would finally be accepting of me," She stood in her bedroom heels and nightgown, arms folded as she glared at her husband.
Only a desk and some office chairs separated them.
Christen suddenly felt the need to hit him where it hurt. Remind him his great love was DEAD! Remind him he was choosing to neglect his wife's needs for a dead woman.
At the mention of getting over Athalia and the reminder that she was dead, not that he needed the reminder, Theo reacted as if she slapped him hard across the face.
Theo would never need reminding that his great love was dead. He simply could not or would not move on with another. Especially now knowing the truth, what Athalia must have dealt with back then, and the fact that she loved him.
When he read the letter, Athalia wrote and left for Aubrianne. Theo learned that she had confessed her love for him. It was everything, it was like he was hearing it for the first time, and he was over the moon to find out she loved him as much as he loved her.
"Don't you ever speak of HER again!" He growled. "Do you hear me?"
The truth is Theo was pulling away from his wife. Theo did not mean to, he wished he could be the man she needed, but Theo knew he did not love this woman. In reality, he never felt as if she was his mate as strongly as his wolf did.
However, he simply thought it was because his heart already belonged to someone else.
Which he thought was strange because she was his mate, after all, and a mate bond was like no other. Nevertheless, there are cases where mates rejected each other, and it was mutual.
Or cases where one rejects the other, leaving the other half to grieve in devastation.
Christen could not answer because she was busy being shocked by Theo's response to her when a knock was heard on the door, "Come in!" Theodore called. He was done with this conversation.
A security guard walked in while Christen's face maintained her shocked look. She went from being shocked by Theo's aggressive response to her as if she was some nagging wife, 'uhh,' she had inwardly grimaced at the thought.
Was she really becoming, or had become, a nagging wife?
Nevertheless, that shock was now interrupted by the surprise of him letting someone come in while they were having a vital conversation.
"What is it?" Theo asked the security guard.
"Sir, your daughter is here to see you." The guard bowed in respect and spoke.
A huge smile graced Theo's face. His once frustrated look had switched to one of joy. "Let her in." Theo visibly relaxed.
With that, the guard nodded and left to retrieve Aubrianne. Then, as the door closed, Christen scoffed, rolled her eyes, then said, "YES, Theo! I heard you loud and clear."
Christen stormed out of the office like a hurricane, slamming the door on her way out.
Christen Thornton
'I can't do this anymore,' Christen cries out. She ran straight to her room, locked the door, and threw herself on her bed.
When her wolf Dove rolls her eyes and responds, 'Please, you ain't going anywhere. To do what? Work for a living? So stop the dramatics. You are giving me a headache.'
Christen said nothing for a few seconds, then spoke, 'Surely my husband would take care of me, even after a divorce. That is the type of man he is.'
Christine knew Theo might be a sh!tty husband to her, but he was a great father and a good man.
When Dove shot back, after a fit of cackling laughter, 'Ha, not after he finds out what you and his father did.'
'It was all James, not me.' Christen was quick to point out.
'Yes, while James was the mastermind of the plan and did the dirty work, you, my dear, were a willing participant in carrying out the end results now, weren't you?'
Then there was that cackling laughter that Dove used when she felt like mocking Christen again.
Then Dove left her abruptly, and Christen remained alone in the deafening silence, wondering if she should continue this ruse or get the hell out of dodge.
She had stuck by his side in this farce of marriage because what would she do? Dove was right!
Dove, Christen wolf, longed for her true mate. She was not in agreement with her human and despised her situation, hoping to the Goddess that the truth would come out so she could be free of this life.
Or her silly human leaves! But Dove knew that would not happen. Victoria is not the type of woman who can stand on her own, but Dove would be there for her every step of the way, guiding Victoria should she decide to make her move.
Hopefully, then, they can now focus on finding their mate, but Dove had lost hope of that a long time ago. Hope that Christen would be strong enough to walk away.
Aubrianne Ivanov
"Hey sweetie, what's up? Is everything ok?" Thornton spoke as he wrapped his daughter in a bear hug.
"Not that I'm not happy you are here; I am just surprised." He finishes with a kiss on her head.
Aubrianne sighed contently in her father's arms, then pulled away, rested her handbag on a chair, and glanced around the room. "Well, I was actually coming over here to tear you a new one," she eyed her father and smiled.
Thick brows furrowed, eyes narrowed, Theo asked, "Honey, what are you saying? What did I do wrong? Come, let's sit." Theo ushered her to a huge comfy sofa.
"No, wait," Aubrianne lifted a hand, "But then I realized on the drive over that you were looking out for me." She stared at him earnestly.
"You did not do anything wrong, Dad; well, I understand why. I got to the office this morning and was told that my file had been pulled from the list of interns starting today. Would you happen to know anything about that?"
Aubrianne asked her father, smiling up at him knowingly.
Theo smiled sheepishly, then said, "Well, honey, I assumed that given everything that happened this past week, it would be a lot for you to digest. I just figured you would need some time off."
"Sorry baby girl, I should have told you," Theo apologized. He made the decision but forgot to inform her.
"Yes, that I agree with." Acknowledging his latter words. "And I came to that conclusion on my drive over, but Dad, I am ok. I would need time off after the ball, though, as I would like to visit Jada's mother." Aubrianne explains.
"Oh, sure, baby girl, but if you like, I can fly her in so you don't have to go," Theo offers.
