Zayne also ensured he had a conversation with Aubrianne's father right before walking to the spot where he saw her across the field before she stole his breath.

He had pulled Alpha Theodore Thornton aside and asked for his blessing.

Zayne knew it was a long shot, but from this conversation, he simply wished to inform Alpha Theodore Thornton of his intentions as a way of respect.

He harbored no illusions that Thornton would happily give him his blessings, which is why Zayne was shocked when Thornton did.

Then Zayne became suspicious. He had a nagging feeling. He was expecting at least some hesitation, a little pushback, not an all-out immediate blessing.

Nevertheless, Zayne had made up his mind, and nothing could have changed it.

Elder Mortimer soon cleared his throat, interrupting the pair from their sweet, intimate makeout session.

"And now, it is time for the run in our wolf form..." Elder Mortimer's voice carried. However, he was interrupted by someone on the right side about midway down.

"Instead of the run with our Luna, could we just spend time with her like last night, and then we all eat instead?"

"Yeah, it would give us more time with Luna; we could always run another time." These were either a lazy bunch, or they wanted more time to suss out Aubrianne.

"Yeah, if I had to choose, I would prefer to pick Luna's brains." Another piped up, and by this time, there were more voicing their preference for the same.

Elder Mortimer's eyes slid to Zayne, asking an unknown question, which Zayne answered with a quick nod.

"Okay then, the people have spoken. No run tonight. It would be carded for another day. Tonight, we grow closer to our Luna by bonding through conversations."

He turned to Aubrianne and teased, "You spoiled them last night; now they won't leave you alone."

Aubrianne beamed. It was all good with her because she already considered them family, and quite frankly, she preferred this over going on a run where she could not actually run.

Leia thought it was annoying that she could not participate, desperately wanting to run side by side with her Mate, but she knew the risks.

Zayne's eyes slid to Aubrianne, and she was smiling at him when she whispered, "Thank you, baby."

And Zayne realized he made the right call, 'Don't want to go on the run?'

Aubrianne almost jumped out of her skin at her Mate's sexy, husky voice resounding in her mind. Oh yes, she recalled, they were now connected via the pack link, and soon, they would be via the marking- completing the bond.

It was the first time he had done it. Earlier, Zayne let the community spend time with her via the mind-link. Plus, he had the feeling they were bombarding her all at once.

But as for him, he knew he would have his one-on-one, and it was only the beginning of the rest of their lives.

Aubrianne scrunched her nose, lifted her chin up at him, eyeing him, and poked his arm, a smile playing on her lips, 'Babe? You startled me.'

Zayne looked very hot as he changed his footing nervously, shoved his hands in his pockets, and rocked back and forth on his plantar and heel with a look of innocence.

He then licked his lips, gave a hooded, almost underneath look, and smiled a dashing, panty-dropping smile.

Aubrianne blushed, her cheeks turning a light pink. Then she smiled, and it reached her eyes. Soon, she spoke again using the same method after having to take a moment.

She needed a second to gather her thoughts as they all went out the window, watching her desirable Mate, who was oozing fantastic sex, and that underneath look held a hidden promise she could not wait for.

'Like, what were they talking about again?'

Finally, she could speak, 'Yes, Leia is dying to run with Aragorn, and she does not see the need to have it rubbed in her face that she can't, even though she is aware of the risks.'

'She is okay, though,' Aubrianne quickly added.

'I get it...I am glad it worked out.' Zayne acknowledged, still gazing upon Aubrianne as if he were undressing her with his eyes.

"Okay, everyone, well, we will have the Alpha and Luna sit up here," Elder Mortimer gestured for Mekhi and David to come and place two chairs.

"Those of you who wish to speak with Luna can do so freely, and in the meantime, food will be dished out."

Some of the crowd cheered their excitement at the mention of food.

After Elder Mortimer's announcement, he was the first to congratulate the sweet couple, declaring his well wishes to both of them on their engagement.

Then Aubrianne's father came right up, congratulated them, shook Zayne's hand, and then grabbed his baby girl in a tight hug, "I am happy that you are happy, Aubrianne. That's all I ever wanted, but in order for you to truly be happy, you need to live." Theo spoke in her ear.

Aubrianne did not know precisely how to take her father's words; what did he mean? But this was not the time to get into his cryptic words. He should have stopped by 'all I ever wanted.'

'Was he still convinced that Zayne would be the death of her?' She could not help but wonder, and Aubrianne could not believe her father right now.

She was quickly becoming agitated, and before her anger flared, she gazed lovingly at her Mate in response to his hands immediately reaching over and stroking her back, and it was soothing her.

Aubrianne really hoped she and her father could get past this. In all honesty, she wanted him in her life, but that does not mean she would bend to his demands.

She hoped that if they could not agree on this, then they should simply agree to disagree and move past it. Her father never mentioning anything distasteful about Zayne again, and she would not bring him up.

But that would certainly make things difficult when you think about family.

But, if that is what they would have to do, so be it because choosing another mate after she got what she needed from Zayne and what the marking would bring about for her is not an option.

She was absolutely sure about THAT!

Zayne had sensed Aubrianne's apprehension towards her father; maybe it was something he said, but all he knew was that his Mate was not reacting well to it, so it must not be good.

Nevertheless, Aubrianne offered her father an unintended smile, stepped to the side, hugged Daniela, and shook Daniel's hand, but he pulled her into a hug, and Aubrianne allowed it.

She made sure to keep it quick; it was Daniel. She had leaned on him since she had arrived in TL. Then she crushed Tobias in a death grip. Her baby brother was there.

Zayne had moved not too far from Aubrianne and received his congrats from Mekhi and Rafael, who could not peel his eyes away from Daniela and a few other key members.

Daniela had squealed her congratulations on Aubrianne's engagement and called her Luna, and she made herself comfortable, grabbing a chair to sit next to where Aubrianne would sit.

And Aubrianne felt good to have Daniela close by, even though she was sure Daniela was up this close to scope out her prospects for tonight.

Her motto was to study hard and play harder, not interested in anything serious, as she was focused on her career of becoming a Doctor. The girls had settled into their chairs as a few members approached.

Meanwhile, Theo had stepped to the side, chatting with Shawn, surely getting updates on things for the past week.

While Tobias sat next to Daniela, wanting to stay close to his sister and not wanting to feel left out, Aubrianne was happy that he joined.

Not long after, more members came up and chit-chatted, but it was more to either congratulate her, gush about her sweet proposal, have her show off her ring, or welcome her as their Luna and Alpha's Mate.

They all simply wanted ample time to greet their Luna, and Aubrianne had enjoyed the time she spent meeting and greeting every family, couples, the unmated, and the pups.

Leandra was in an excellent mood tonight. She had been eyeing a certain someone in Aubrianne's camp and was eager to bump into him.

But when she had her moment, she hesitated because it was at that moment when she caught him eyeing Aubrianne with puppy eyes. It stopped her in her tracks. She was not interested in a man who was hung up on someone else.
