Special Someone!
Aubrianne Ivanov
"Yea, seriously?" Jada was so confused her answer came out more like a question than an answer.
Aubrianne pouted, "Then why didn't you tell me sooner?" But shaking her head before Jada could answer, she said, "You know what? It does not matter. What matters is that you are like me, a magical being. I can learn from you... Oh goodness, Jada, this is perfect!"
'She is more than that,' Leia had said.
'What?' Aubrianne asked.
'Yes, so if you would stay quiet and let her speak, I believe she might be able to get it out.' Leia spoke encouragingly. Leia was being serious about this. Aubrianne had a way of not letting someone get a word out. She was always rambling on and on.
Jada observed the change in Aubrianne, and her distraction figured she was talking to her wolf. Then it suddenly dawned on Jada that if Aubrianne was surprised that she was a witch, it could only mean her wolf did not sell her out.
It meant Aubrianne's wolf gave Jada the time to tell Aubrianne herself because her wolf would certainly know Jada, Aubrianne's best friend, was a witch.
Jada looked at Aubrianne in realization, then she closed her eyes, focused, and sent her thanks directly to Aurbianne's wolf.
In response, Aubrianne's eyes showed the most beautiful shade of blue Jada had ever seen. Her wolf was peeking out in acknowledgment.
Jada wasted no more time in getting everything out. She says, "Actually, it's more than that, Aubri."
"Oh, Ok, come, please! I want to hear everything!" From then on, Aubrianne listened to Jada.
They made it to Aubrianne's room. Jada had planned to bunk there for the night.
They had settled comfortably, as Jada told Aubrianne everything. "It all started when I walked into the grocery store."
Aubrianne's eyes had opened wide, and her lips parted, ready to ramble on again, but she bit her lower lip instead, remembering Leia's words.
Jada left nothing out except the Mr. Grey situation. She felt like it was a mountain for another day.
"So, you knew who I was for five months and did not say anything?" Aubrianne had asked after hearing all Jada had said about her suspicions after she had felt the pull get a bit stronger between them.
This led her to her mother Martha, Aubrianne's mother's friend and the witch who helped her mother perform the spell that bound Aubrianne's wolf and magic.
Aubrianne wrapped her mind around it, 'she thought she was protecting you.' Leia offers comfort.
"Aubri, honey, I am so sorry. I thought that it was not the best time. You were knee-deep in projects, exams, and preparing for your big move."
"Please, understand that I did not maliciously withhold the information. I just did not want to distract you. You know I will always want the best for you. Also, if I am being candid, I chickened out a few times, scared of your reaction to the news of magical beings." Jada rushed the last part out.
Aubrianne could not deny the fact that Jada always had her back and her best interest at heart. Hell, Jada was the one that showed Aubrianne what a true friend was like.
Jada genuinely supported Aubrianne and her endeavors, her number one fan rooting for her every step of the way. So Aubrianne believed Jada, and Leia already knew no lies came from Jada's story.
Even the part about her being afraid to tell Aubri.
The only thing Leia had suspected was Jada's nerves and worry. And the feeling that stood out the most was Jada's fear of losing Aubrianne. How could Leia be mad at that?
These are the type of people that they should surround themselves with.
But after a moment, Aubrianne had to ask, "What is it with everyone not wanting to distract me? And being overly careful? I am a grown person very much capable of making my own decisions," Aubrianne declared.
"Ok, ok, I am sorry ok, it won't happen again, no secrets', Jada reassured her.
"Promise me from now on, right? No more secrets!" Aubrianne said.
Jada reaches over to hug and squeeze Aubri as she says, "I promise, and I really was afraid of your reaction to the news of magical beings."
"See, I know, always overly careful around me, like I am made of glass.
What I am actually mad about was the day you left me hanging on the phone. That one hurts, Jada because I needed you so much, I was literally spiraling, and you abandoned me."
"I know, I know, and I have no excuse. Because of my own fright, I left you hanging, but Aubri, please forgive me?"
Aubrianne leans in and hugs Jada, "Of course I forgive you."
"Oh, I am so happy that it is all in the open now, and we can talk freely about these things!" Jada beamed.
"Yes, indeed!" Aubrianne answered and went silent for a moment. Jada did not push or anything. She had just let Aubrianne absorb everything. Even now, she watched as Aubrianne seemed to be processing something else.
She said, "I knew something was suspicious about my injury. I knew something was weird when Dr. White said there was no cracked skull. But then I thought that I had imagined things. But I knew I heard the crack."
Aubrianne recalls when Jada told her what she had done in an attempt to save her life the night of the incident.
Looking at Jada, she said, "Thank you, I might not have been here if it was not for you." She reached over and squeezed Jada's leg.
"Goddess, I don't know what I would have done if.." Jada could not finish the sentence, and Aubrianne scooted closer and hugged her.
"It's ok, I am ok," Aubrianne reassured her, fully understanding why Jada was so disturbed about her incident.
"So, you are my special witch, huh? You are my special someone!" Aubrianne asked gleefully, then sing songs the last part before adding, "Geez, what does that even mean?"
Rolling her eyes, Jada says, "Not a special witch, nor special someone, your destined witch protector."
Then adds, "Special someone? Really Aubri?"
"Right, right, and Shawn is my destined wolf protector?" She confirms, making sure she is following, then adds.
"Gosh, I feel like I am supposed to be doing something big, something great, but I don't know what it is," Aubrianne complained.
With all this happening to Aubrianne and the things she had been blessed with, especially hearing how special a white wolf was with all the extra gifts one was blessed with, Aubrianne couldn't help but wonder if she had some type of greater purpose.
She could not help but wonder if she was meant to be doing something significant!
"Relax, don't stress about it. Trust me, these things have a way of revealing themselves, and firstly before you go all save the world, you need to be able to use your gifts properly, so how about for now we take baby steps, huh?" Jada advised.
One thing that will never change is Aubrianne's safety. "We can discuss starting physical training in both your human and wolf form, then, of course, training to be able to use your magic and not injure yourself or someone."
"And for that, I can take you back to my hometown in Wickersville to meet my mom," Jada offers.
"Oh goodness, my mom was originally from Wickersville, dad had told me," Aubrianne was giddy with excitement about visiting her mother's hometown.
"Great, we can visit your past home if you like," Jada offers.
"Really?" Aubrianne asked.
"Yes, my mom can take us to your mother's home before she starts her sessions with you," Jada expressed.
"Why can't you teach me, though?" Aubrianne questioned.
"Because my mom can help you better than I ever could, but of course, I will get the ball rolling."
"Really, Jada?" Aubrianne asked, touched.
"Yea, I can teach you a few tricks here and there," Jada assured.
"Oh goodness, this is perfect!" Aubrianne was brimming with excitement. But she was quickly feeling the full effects of her day.
***End Flashback**
In the end, Jada gets her secret out. She and Aubrianne had both had confessions and worked it out. They also looked forward to where their path would lead.
Both are also excited to see where things lead them. So much had happened in the space of less than twenty-four hours. Aubrianne's mind was blown.
When she woke up yesterday morning, she finally decided to unpack, and while unpacking, there was that box that kept nagging her.
She never expected or imagined it would have led to all of this.
