DIRTY IDEA
The great North Le Frère wasn't under his command yet but as the next successor of the throne, Dreygur had chosen loyal knights that will serve him during his reign. He chose them by himself ever since he is a kid. It is a tradition of the Davenfords that whoever is the next in line to the throne will have to choose his battalion of knights to be trained and ready to serve the future King. Pure-blooded knights who are descendants of the first knights of the ancestors of the Davenfords. He has been with them since childhood. Loyal and trustworthy. Even though Dreygur is not yet King, he already has their loyalty. It is their rule that Dreygur's safety must be prioritized more than the current Queen of Le Frère.
And now he will use his best knights for his wicked plan. He is desperate to get the only woman he loves.
Dreygur is currently sitting in the swivel chair of his modern personal library which is just next to his room in the palace while reading a history book about the Davenfords, a family that is not infamous back then written by historians. Eyes perusing the content of the book, Dreygur was losing his focus on what he read. He couldn't get rid of what he heard in the room on his mind where Sumire was currently occupying.
"Damn it!" His hands formed into a fist, Dreygur couldn't believe that his aunt Zèlle would be deeply opposed to his desire to marry Sumire. Dreygur could only think that the current Queen might react that way because Chadwick was not chosen to be next in line to the throne. He could feel that the Queen also doesn't want her firstborn child to be King because of his twisted morals who wanted to bring back the forgotten rules and forbidden punishment of the very first king of the Davenfords.
After all, if Dreygur wants to, he can marry his first-degree female cousins for the throne and produce pure-blooded Davenford heirs. No one will object to that. It was for the sake of the throne, they want it to be pure as much as possible. The family will do the impossible thing just to keep the throne from impurity. Dreygur couldn't understand why his aunt and father object him to marrying his niece. He wants Sumire to bear his heirs and no one else. Lunaire's face suddenly entered his mind. If his suspicion is correct, the reason lies on Lunaire's side.
Dreygur deeply frowned. His head throbs in pain at the thought. 'Don't tell me I also have to dig about Lunaire's kin?' He asked himself at the back of his mind.
He placed the book on the table and then motioned to his Butler who was at the door to come over.
"My life is in danger. The Queen now opens the borders for her guests and has a possible visitor who will kill me within three days. Tell the knights to disperse to the ports and airports where outsiders can dock or land. Except for the Royal airport, I'll take care of it myself. This is an order." Dreygur ordered in a commanding tone. The Butler didn't say a word but nodded before leaving the library.
"It's not a lie the fact my life is in danger. It's the truth. Aunt Zèlle has a visitor who can kill me." Dreygur murmured to himself as he picked up the history book that he couldn't finish reading.
He tried to clear his mind. He wanted to be calm, cool, and collected in making decisions that would lead him to absolute victory. He will be the King of North Le Frère and proves to everyone that he can do anything for the throne. He can still sit without difficulty and with Sumire on his side until they grow old. Dreygur was grinning from ear to ear as he imagined his wedding day with her. Sumire was wearing a royal wedding dress that suited perfectly to her while walking down the wide and fancy aisle. All their families were there, witnesses of their union. And he was waiting on his throne, seeing nothing but the most beautiful woman he loved so much.
Dreygur couldn't help himself but smile like an obsessed psycho at the scenario playing in his head. His imagination was interrupted by a series of knocks on the door. The smile on his face quickly vanished and was replaced by irritation.
"Come in," Dreygur said and the door opened. Chadwick spat in there with no expression on his face. He is still wearing a lab coat and his big eyeglasses are so thick that his eyes can hardly be seen.
"What brought you here?" Dreygur asked his cousin in a monotonous tone who stridden the place and sit in the opposite chair from his place. Chadwick's head slightly tilted as if reading his face and heaved a deep sigh at the same time. Dreygur felt even more irritated by the way Chadwick sighed. It was forced and full of disappointment.
"Feet." Chadwick sarcastically replied making Dreygur's eyes narrow in annoyance. His cousin is nothing but a pest to him.
"If you don't have anything good to say, get out. I don't want you here. I'd rather see your corpse." Unenthusiastic, Dreygur firmly said which Chadwick burst into boisterous laughter. It was fake and lifeless guffaw.
"What's your plan?" Chadwick asked Dreygur bluntly and in a serious tone. Dreygur was caught off guard. He couldn't hide the surprise on his face. He was also trying to read what was going on in Chadwick's mind but he is like facing and talking to a solid wall right now.
"Plan? What about it?" Feigning innocence, Dreygur asked back. Chadwick's lips formed into a smirk and were noticeably fake. He purposely makes such expressions to match what Dreygur was going to say.
"About my niece," Chadwick answered in a serious tone and straight face, which stopped Dreygur from reading and dropped the book he was holding.
"What's happening to you? You seem to be in a hurry to the point that you're too much of a blunt now." Dreygur laughed, trying to change the subject.
"I saw your Butler." Chadwick brusquely answered. With such a simple sentence, it saved several arguments which would possibly prolong their conversation.
"I ordered him to double the vigilance around especially since my life is now in danger," Dreygur replied meaningfully to which Chadwick nodded and crossed his arm on his chest.
"I thought you ordered him to give Sumire an aphrodisiac," Chadwick said directly. Dreygur was stunned at his place. That never entered his mind. But his cousin unknowingly gave him an idea.
Chadwick stood up when Dreygur fell into silence and seem to be back in his own world.
"I'm heading out." He bid bye and Dreygur absentmindedly nodded to him. When Chadwick's presence was finally gone, Dreygur immediately stood up.
"I want her tonight." Said Dreygur as he left the library to do the plan he had in mind after Chadwick gave him such a brilliant idea.
"He is desperate."
Eyes went icy cold, Chadwick whispered under his breath who was just standing outside the library with hands thrust on his lab coat pockets. Dreygur didn't even notice him who was obviously losing sane again leaving the place.
............
Chest leaning against the deck railing and her midnight hair dancing in the gentle current of the wind, Sumire was wearing a white bottoming ice silk suspender nightdress two-piece suit. She was on the terrace of her room looking at the red crescent moon hanging in the sky along the vast constellations. She was holding the galaxy in her eyes. Under the pure black of the night gives the stars their beauty to shine, Sumire felt her soul in serene.
Sumire wanted to call Mort but later realizes she can't do phone calls outside North Le Frère due to extreme restrictions and high security. If Mort wasn't using a phone made in this country, she was unable to reach him. The signal on her phone was lost on purpose making her connection to the outside world totally shut down. It wasn't surprising how Nort Le Frère is very strict. They have their own technology and they don't want it to be shared or allow it to connect to the outside world. International hackers can't infiltrate this country, except for the local hackers residing inside this invisible wall. The maiden sighed heavily and audibly.
"I miss his voice and his touch. I miss him so much. I wanna kiss him."
Sumire whispered while eyes looking at the sky, cheek resting on her palm. For some unknown reason, she felt nervous all of a sudden. She wanted to tour the inside of the palace now but she suddenly felt lazy. She plans to tour the place while on a video call with Mort and share the beauty she was seeing with him.
'Oh, silly me. We'll see each other soon.' Sumire laughed in her mind. She sent a message to Blanche since he has a Nort Le Frère phone, given by their grandmother. Her cousin, Blanche is always the one Queen Zèlle reaches whenever she misses and wanted to call her family, the Massoullèves. Although Blanche hasn't replied yet and is unable to give him a call, Sumire knows her cousin will still receive her message. She had a strong hunch Blanche would deliver the message to the only man she loved the most.
The trepidation blooms on her chest she couldn't explain earlier was replaced by excitement. She can't wait to embrace and give Mort tons of kisses. That very moment, a wishing star cruised the velvety black sky and Sumire closed her eyes, wishing that the festival would arrive so she could see Mort sooner. The maiden smiled when she opened her eyes as if she saw Mort's face in the sky traced in the stars. A Mort Dmitriv Aslanov had a completely different effect on her. It drives her crazy even when they are apart from each other.
"Damn, I must be crazy. Crazy in love." Sumire said, giggling. Happiness danced through her thoughts at the imaginations that were playing in her mind when suddenly someone knocked on the door three times.
"This is Dreygur." The man introduced himself. Sumire's smile disappeared from her face and fixed her expression. Both cheeks were still flushed in crimson red.
Sumire inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly, trying to relax and get rid of the heat she felt after thinking about Mort. She slapped herself slightly to bring her back to reality. She didn't want to be awkward in front of her Uncle. Sumire took another deep breath and faked a cough before speaking.
"You can come in, Uncle Drey!" Sumire said enthusiastically and loudly even though the intercom connected to the side of her door was right in front of her.
The door opened and Dreygur came out with a bouquet of lovely red roses and was handsomely dressed. A slight frown and surprise painted visibly on Sumire's face. She didn't know whether to smile or what. She saw the strange sparkle in his Uncle's eyes. The maiden confirmed that her uncle was in love. It makes her think that the woman Dreygur likes is the luckiest one especially her Uncle has everything that women can ask for in a man they want to be with for the rest of their lives.
"Do you have a date?" Sumire asked when he got close to her and she was astonished when Dreygur gave her the bouquet which she hesitated to accept.
Sumire had a second thoughts about accepting the flowers, especially since anyone who could see the arrangement of flowers was obviously meant for the girl his Uncle liked. Whoever that lucky girl is. She didn't understand why it was given to her. Maybe he wants to get her approval if the flower is beautiful or something. But Sumire didn't expect the word to come out of her lips.
"Thank you?" Sumire unsurely said which made Dreygur chuckle.
The young man didn't say a word. His eyes locked on her and just stared at her face, confused while looking at the bouquet that she was smelling. Dreygur felt a garden was right in front of him because of the beautiful combination of flowers and Sumire. Dreygur's urge to possess the maiden grew intensely. And tonight he knew he would succeed. He can't fail now especially since he is running out of time. He has little chance to be with Sumire if he takes her in good and sensible conversation. So he will take everything by force. He no longer cares if he hurts any families cause the important thing he has in mind is he gets what he wanted. Then he will think about the maiden's feelings later when she finally be his. He is confident he could make Sumire happy no matter what.
"Do you have a date, Uncle?"
Sumire asked for the second time, looking at her uncle who was staring deeply at her as if searching for her soul in those dark orbs. Dreygur's look on her was strange. It was the first time Sumire had seen that kind of look from her uncle toward her. Forceful and possessive. She could see the great obsession in those pair of eyes that instead will captivate her, Sumire felt uncomfortable.
"No, but I wanna eat dinner with you. I want to make you taste the cake I baked myself. And of course, I also want you to taste the wine that is just my age." Dreygur replied with a sweet smile. Sumire would have wanted to decline the invitation because she was already full but upon seeing the sincerity and excitement in her Uncle's eyes, she nodded to him with a smile.
"Sure thing!"
