MISSING HIM
Wearing his famous stoic face, Mort was facing the screen of his computer while hands were busy fiddling on the keyboard, Leroy and Lyric were restless in their seats. Narco sent them a message with random letters and numbers and they couldn't decipher it properly. What he sent to them made no sense. The twins think that maybe it was just a prank by Narco. But his message hasn't gone off their minds.
Sitting on the sofa, Leroy and Lyric tried to call Narco but the phone seemed to be turned off. They failed to reach him. Sighing heavily, they wish to know Narco's exact location. The twins hope they could leave the place and would look for Narco.
Leroy and Lyric instinctively turn their gaze on someone in the room. Klauss, who had been looking at his phone, added to their worries. Even their Boss's secretary was busy, every now and then he glances at the phone as if waiting for a call or message from someone. Although they have a hunch he is waiting for Laurel, they are still unsure about it. Besides, Klauss's mood was as dark as the hurricane. Ever since Laurel left and never came back, Klauss became more and more hot-headed. The twins thought he would never be infatuated with her but it looks like Klauss was hit by Cupid's arrow.
The deafening silence dominated the room for a few more minutes when Mort's phone suddenly rang. Narco's voice came in the line and they all can hear him as Mort put it on loudspeaker. Lyric and Leroy exchanged glances and looked in Mort's direction at the same time. They look like a dog with sharp ears pointed and invisible tails wagging due to excitement after hearing Narco's voice. Both are super attentive on the call.
"Why did you call?" Mort immediately asked. A moment of silence echoed on the other side before Narco responded to him.
"I need a lot of money." Narco directly replied. His savings were dropped to zero after he spent it on Sumire's demands. All he could do was to watch his money disappeared from his eyes. He had no more penny left on his account. The past months had been hell for him.
Brows puckered into a frown, Leroy and Lyric exchanged glances once more. They know Narco is a slave to money but this time, his tone sounded very desperate. Narco was never desperate for money even though he was an avaricious brat. The twins are wondering now and at the same time make their own conclusion about Narco's random message to them. Maybe he is really asking for money from them but he is too shy to say it.
Lyric and Leroy quickly took their phone out of their pockets and immediately sent money to Narco's bank account which surprised the young man on the other line.
"Holy shit? Are those two there?" Narco asked after his phone notified him through a message that the twins had sent him money.
"Yes." Mort briefly reply and cast a stare at the twins who were busy on the phone.
"So, are you gonna send money or I'll starve your silly wife here?" Narco asked. Mort wasted no time and immediately sent billions to Narco's account in a heartbeat.
"Why don't you just pick her up here and you two get away from human civilization?" Narco said in a sardonic tone. Sumire and his Dad are the most impossible human being in the world he'd ever known. Both are perfectly matched made in heaven and hell. Mort remains unbothered to his grievances and flashes a slight frown.
"What do you mean?" Mort asked. It's been months had passed since Sumire left him. He gets a picture of how she was doing now.
"See it for yourself. How dare you impregnate her but you gave your responsibility to others. You are impossible and irresponsible." Narco answered in an angry tone while looking at his phone, waiting and expecting Mort to send more money again. And he's right, his Dad sent billions again.
"Dad, you just don't know what torment I've been through, how much struggle I had with your wife just to stay alive. Your son is now penniless and a pauper." Narco added and sounded pitiful. He even faked his emotional voice with a fake sob. Without having a second thought, Mort sent billions again for the third time.
"I'm sorry. Just give me 3 months to fix this rising chaos in the Underground." Mort sincerely responded making Klauss raise his eyebrows.
"You are the smartest person I know yet the dumbest when it comes to your crazy son and exotic wife," Klauss said sarcastically while hands and legs crossed altogether. Mort's gaze was directed at him.
"If you can watch over and take care of Sumire for me there and I will send Narco home. How does it sound to you?" Mort said which silenced Klauss. He'd rather go to die than watch over Sumire on his Boss' behalf.
"If you allow us to go to Narco? We want to help." The twins volunteered and rose from the sit with hands still raised. Mort eyed them brazenly.
"Do you need more?" Mort asked Narco on the other line who still didn't hang up the call and patiently waited for him.
"It's enough," Narco replied with a satisfying smirk while his eyes sparkled with a gold money sign after seeing his account filled with billions again.
'This warms up my withered soul,' he gazes fondly at the huge amount now on his account. Narco slap his face to get to his senses and was expecting the Boss to ask him something.
"Who is the Consigliere you are referring to?" A few seconds had passed, and Mort finally asked. The question Narco is waiting for. He thought his Dad was no longer interested in the information he gave him.
"Fergus' Consigliere and Laurel's." Out of the two names that Narco dropped, the last name triggered Mort.
"But why?" Mort asked, referring to Laurel. He is more interested in her Consigliere than the person he is investigating with. He doesn't want to collide or fight with Laurel in case that's where all of this is headed.
"Ah... umm...Laurel...hmmm...since Klauss won't help her. She is the one who made a way to prevent her arranged marriage from going through. She asked Chadwick for help to make a copycat. Specifically, Klauss' clone." Narco replied, which stunned everyone in the room.
Klauss who heard it, his eyes quickly widen. He knew Laurel was crazy but he never thought it would reach this point. He didn't expect that woman to be this insane.
"She's scary," Leroy commented, with his body slightly trembling as he look at his twin.
"Damn, she creeps me out." Lyric seconded. Both of the turned their gaze on Klauss who was speechless. Don't know what to say.
No words came out of his lips. His eyes went dull and his brain went blank. The three of them looked in Mort's direction when Narco let out boisterous laughter.
"I'm just kidding, guys. Don't take it seriously. All I know is that their Consigliere met with Chadwick but I don't know the reason." Narco laughingly said as he take back at what he said. He then hung up the call without bidding bye his father.
Their conversation ended just like that after Narco rudely dropped the call. Mort has a lot of questions in mind but it seems it will take a while before they will be answered. Narco seemed ended the call on purpose. The young man made it look like he knows nothing at all even though he knows everything well that is going on despite his absences.
Klauss, Leroy, and Lyric breathed a sigh of relief. Eyes widened, and the three of them exchanged glances at how Narco found out about Laurel's fixed marriage. They were left in awe, wondering how in the world Narco knew it if he was not around.
"Boss, did you tell Narco about Laurel's arranged marriage?" Lyric asked. His natural curiosity led him to ask questions. He had prepared a bulletproof vest just in case Mort's bullet flew in his direction for daring to accuse Mort of indirectly gossiping.
"What do you think?" Mort return the question as he scanned the files on his table. He didn't even bother to throw a glance at them. What they don't understand is why their Boss has to tell Narco about the fixed marriage.
"You like gossip," Klauss said sarcastically. The hunk then put the glasses on.
"Ah, he wanted rare news. I gave him one." Mort bluntly replied making Klauss roll his eyes.
"Narco once told me that 10 rounds were not enough for you, Boss. Don't tell me, did you talk about your sex life?" Just like his twin, Leroy seconded. Eyes widened in surprise, Lyric sitting next to him was choking on the juice he drink.
"We didn't talk about that," Mort said honestly and quickly. The twins left thinking maybe Narco was just bluffing.
"But Boss, I still can't find Fergus' location." Leroy changed the conversation. Mort did not respond. He went back to reading the files.
The room was once again filled with overwhelming silence. While they were waiting for Mort's order someone called Klauss on the phone which catches their attention. It was Laurel. The secretary quickly answered the call.
"I'll be there," Klauss said and he hung up on the call. The twins were left curious again. They had no clue who called especially since they did not hear the person on the other line.
"Boss, I have something important to do," Klauss said goodbye as Mort just motioned for him to leave without taking his eyes off what he was reading. The hunk was too focused on the reports. Klauss left the place right away leaving Leroy and Lyric in the office.
While everyone was busy at the Brethren city, Sumire was enjoying herself in the pool. She was wearing a black criss cross maternity bikini high waist string two-piece with sunglasses on. She still looks undeniably sexy in it even though her baby bump is visible. The table next to her was a display of mouthwatering cakes and pastries.
The maiden was sipping on the milkshake that she mixed with ice cream and marshmallows. Sumire finds it delicious even if it tasted weird as she combines different flavors into one.
Narco, who fanned her, just winced on her side. His face twitched sourly thinking about the possible taste when Sumire sipped on it, who was enjoying the milkshake. He thinks she might have a stomachache after sipping on the weirdly darkened milk which looked like made from witchcraft. But he didn't care anymore as Sumire ruined his important walk again. Especially since she heard him calling Mort earlier.
"Can I throw this witch in the pool?" Narco said not bothering to lower his voice or even say loudly what is on his mind. He intended to let Sumire hear it.
"Did you hear that, darlings? Don't be like your brother." Sumire said as she caressed her bulging tummy. In annoyance, Narco imitates Sumire's words. Blanche, who was inside the house and saw everything, couldn't help but giggle.
"You should always be with Sumire so that their twins will look like you. What if one of them is as tan as Narco?" Said Chadwick who was also looking at the two outside. He had a tray with black tea on it. Blanche laughed at his father's jest.
"Much better," Blanche responded while smiling widely. Chadwick turn to him and handed over the tray.
"Give it to your cousin. What she's drinking right now is a bit dangerous. Make her drink it." Chadwick ordered his son. Blanche takes it and does what is commanded to him.
"Dad, the color of the tea looks very suspicious." Blanche kiddingly said and Chadwick responded to him with a peal of laughter. His dad goes back to the library to resume what he was doing. Blanche then went to Sumire and Narco's place with the tray.
"Drink this," Blanche said as soon as she arrived at the pool. He put the black tea on the table and Sumire didn't think twice about drinking it.
"This looks shady," Narco commented after seeing the color of the tea and eyed Blanche.
"As long as Uncle Chadwick did it, I trust him." Sumire confidently said. She took off the sunglasses, brought the tea to her lips, and sipped on the glass. The maiden cast a side-eye on him and raised one eyebrow.
"You're just jealous because you don't have one," Sumire added and jeered him. Narco raised both of his eyebrows.
"It's okay. I'm with my lover. How about you?" Narco countered her with an unforgiving tease which made her silenced. Narco got a critical hit on her.
Blushed, Blanche chuckled and bulged his eyes telling Narco not to tease Sumire too much especially since she is pregnant. The maiden might cry again after missing Mort badly.
"I want ice cream," Sumire said after a moment of silence. Narco frowned. He could see that Sumire still had many unopened ice creams on the table.
"And I want you to do it in front of me." She added which left Narco stunned and staring at her in disbelief.
"I don't know how to make it." Opposed, Narco responded in a firm tone. A smirk formed on Sumire's lips.
"Then learn how." Sumire mockingly said and put the glasses on sassily. Narco's eyes narrowed in annoyance.
"I want to throw her in the ocean," Narco said under his breath as he threw his fan into the pool and bought materials for making ice cream which in the end when he got home, all the stuff he bought was left unused because the maiden had gone to sleep. Inflamed with anger, Narco burns it.
After one of Sumire's disturbances at Narco's peace in the early morning and every hour of his life, the day came when Sumire suddenly became quiet. Blanche and Chadwick were worried about her, but Narco wanted to celebrate this rare phenomenon and jump happily outside the manor. He was not even surprised by her sudden silence this time.
The father and son decided to go to Sumire's room and found her curled up on the bed, hugging herself while crying in silence. Blanche quickly got on the bed, worried, and approached her cousin.
"What's wrong? Does something hurt you? Any discomfort? Tell me." Blanche asked worriedly as he gently rub her back. Her red and swollen eyes opened up to him.
"I miss him," Sumire said between her sobs and hiccups. The father and son looked at each other.
"How about a call? Call him." Chadwick suggested that Sumire shook her head a few times in disagreement.
"I can't do that. I don't want to put our babies and him in danger. What if I gave him a call and he's in the middle of a war? He will be distracted and then get hit in the heart because he forgot to wear a bulletproof vest. I don't want Mort to die. I can't bear to lose him..." The maiden tearily responded as she started to overthink again. She buried her face in the pillows soaked in tears.
"What are we going to do, Dad?" Blanche rose from the bed and went to Chadwick. He whispered to his Dad's ear, who ordered him right away.
"Call Narco. He knows what to do." Chadwick said and Blanche dialed the young man's number who answer his call quickly. Narco's day was once again ruined as he knew already what Blanche had called him for.
"She's crying. She said she misses Mort. Dad said you know what you're going to do. Whatever it is, hurry up."
