The hooded stranger pounced on the goon nearest to Evelyn and threw him across the room with such force that he hit the window smashing it into pieces. Another guy intervened, and the hooded man punched him hard.
The third goon attacked from behind, but he held his hand and twisted it breaking it instantly. The goon cried out, holding his arm and running for the door, but the stranger was not done. He grabbed him by his shirt, twisted his other arm, and only stopped when he heard the cracking sound.
The fourth guy was still standing behind Evelyn, frozen in shock. The hooded man stared at him furiously and screamed, " Get away from her."
The guy flinched and instantly got away from Evelyn and pleaded. " I-I didn't do anything."
" How dare you touch her?" he roared so loud the goon almost pissed his pants.
" I-I am sorry. You can take her away. We won't stop you."
" Stop me?" the stranger gave a dry laugh. " You can't stop me even if you would want to. Not unless you want to die. " He approached the goon, held his neck tight, and lifted him off the ground. The goon was trembling helplessly out of breath, trying to loosen the grip on his neck.
Evelyn stared at the hooded guy, her vision still blurry, and thought about whether he was here to help her or...? But the way he spoke about her, it looked like he already knew her. Who was this guy, and why was his face hidden?
The stranger stopped only when Evelyn whispered, " P-Please stop. He will die."
He suddenly turned around to look at Evelyn, and his expression changed from furious to concerned. " These people deserve to die. They dared to lay their hands on you."
" I don't want anyone to die because of me," Evelyn managed to say, trying to get up.
The stranger pushed the goon away and rushed towards Evelyn to help her untie her bonds.
The second goon who had been punched now got up and managed to kick the stranger from behind. The stranger didn't even flinch at the kick and turned around, looking at the goon with anger.
The goon was so scared he tried to run, but the hooded guy held him by the nape of his neck and banged his head to the wall multiple times until he was unconscious, all the while uttering the words " How dare you interrupt me when I am with my girl?"
Evelyn was shocked to hear the stranger calling her as his girl. Did she know him?
All the four guys were down, so the stranger approached Evelyn again and untied her. He then picked her up and approached the guy who was almost squeezed to death. The guy backed away in fear when the stranger said, " Tell your boss to stay away from her. If he tries this again, I will find him and make sure he's dead."
" W-Who are you?" the goon stuttered.
" You don't need to know that," the hooded man said in his deep voice. " Now, give me the car keys."
" But my car..."
" I don't need your damn car. I will park near the train station; you can collect it from there."
" W-Which train station?"
" That's for you to find out," the stranger said curtly.
The goon wanted to ask more but stopped himself when he got a glare from the hooded guy. He could do nothing but nod and give him the car keys with trembling hands.
The stranger went out of the warehouse with Evelyn, placed her on the car's passenger seat, and put on the seat belt. He then sat on the driver's seat and drove off.
" W-Who are you?" Evelyn asked. " W-Why did you help me?"
" Because you are mine."
" W-What? But I don't even know you." Even if the man sounded scary and possessive, surprisingly, Evelyn felt safe around him.
" But I know everything about you. I have been watching you for days."
" W-Why are you hiding your identity?"
" It's not the right time to reveal myself. "
" W-When is the right time?"
" I don't know."
" W-What do I call you?" Evelyn asked, almost at the brink of losing consciousness.
" If you are Eve, I will be your Adam," the hooded man said and lovingly placed a hand on Evelyn's cheek.
Evelyn's eyes widened in surprise, and she slowly lost consciousness.
Adam drove to Evelyn's house and parked the car. He got down, opened the passenger's door, and stared at Evelyn for a few minutes.
" You are so beautiful," he whispered and kissed her on her forehead. " I won't let anyone hurt you. I will always protect you."
He then took off the seat belt, picked her up, walked towards her house, and rang the doorbell.
After a few seconds, Ava opened the door and was shocked to see a strange man holding an unconscious Evelyn.
" Oh my god, Evelyn. What happened to you?" Ava asked in panic. " And who the hell are you?"
Adam entered the house and walked toward Evelyn's room.
" Where the f**k are you going? What did you do to her?"
" I didn't do anything. I saved her," Adam said calmly.
" What happened to her?" Ava asked, seeing the hooded man put Evelyn on her bed.
" You are a doctor, right. Please check if she is fine."
Ava approached Evelyn and checked her. " She looks fine, but why is she unconscious?"
" She was drugged."
" What? Did you do it?" Ava asked, holding Evelyn trying to protect her. " Get away from her, or I am calling the cops."
Adam covered Evelyn with the blanket and said to Ava, " I know you are concerned for Eve, but I didn't do anything to her. I am leaving now; please take care of her."
" Wait... Who are you? Why is your face covered?"
Adam didn't reply and swiftly walked out of the home. Ava followed slowly and saw him get into the car and drive off. She then closed the door behind her and went to check on Evelyn.
The following day when Evelyn was awake, she was bombarded by Ava with questions.
" Are you alright? I was so worried."
" W-Water?" Evelyn said in a croaking voice.
Ava rushed to her with a glass of water and helped her drink.
After Evelyn felt a little better, she recounted the events of the previous day.
" Those bastards," Ava sneered. " How can they be so despicable?"
" I never expected them to resort to such cheap tricks."
" Let's go to the cops," Ava suggested.
" I don't have any proof that it's them."
" That is for the cops to find out."
" I don't know, Ava, " Evelyn said, confused. " They are influential people and can get away easily."
" Are you scared of them?"
" I am not scared, but I have to be alert. What happened yesterday was totally unexpected."
" How could your friend drug you? You can't trust anybody these days," Ava said bitterly.
" You are right. Anyways, how did I come home?" Evelyn asked.
" The hooded guy brought you home. Who was he?"
" I don't know Ava, but thankfully he saved me at the right time."
" Why was his face hidden?"
" When I asked him, he said it was not the right time," Evelyn told Ava everything about her conversation with Adam.
" Do you think Adam is his real name?" Ava asked.
" Why not?"
" I feel he said Adam because he thinks you are his Eve."
" Is that possible?"
" It can be, and by what you told me about this Adam guy, I am sure he likes you."
" He said he has been watching me. I feel like he is a stalker," Evelyn stated.
" But I don't think he means you any harm."
" How can you be so sure?"
" I am a psychiatrist, and I can read people's personalities. Though only his eyes were visible, I could see the love and concern for you in his eyes," Ava explained. " But in any case, you still have to be careful. I can be wrong too."
" This is all so confusing. So much has happened in just one day," Evelyn said, feeling exhausted.
" Have breakfast and take rest. Don't go to college today."
" Okay," Evelyn agreed, and Ava went to the kitchen.
Ava handed Evelyn her breakfast and said, " Call Triston and inform him that you are okay. He has been worried sick for you."
" Does he know?"
" I don't know, but he called me because your phone was not reachable. That guy cares for you."
" I know. I will talk to him."
