Chapter 27: Hot PAs and Bouncy Hips.
GIOVANNI.
“Can this girl ever stop fascinating me?”
I couldn't stop myself from asking that question, to myself alone though. I was on a call in the elevator when she got in even though many other workers were standing out.
I couldn't stop myself from checking her out especially as we were in an enclosed space together, alone. She just looked so different. I've seen her in about three outfits. The nightwear outfit is one I wouldn't forget.
She had looked so fucking sexy in them.
Too bad she couldn't warm my bed for me.
Now, she was dressed in this amazing tight-fitting skirt that didn't reach her knees. The skirt made her shape more prominent, pronouncing her hips.
She looked hot!!
But only when I brought my phone down from my ear and slid it into my pocket did I realize that she had been checking me out too. It made my heart feel fuzzy and warm altogether that the feelings were not one-sided after all. At least the attractions.
“You can take a picture, it will last longer,” I said interrupting her focus on how sexy I looked. She looked up to stare at me, a bit startled to have been caught.
She might probably go crimson now.
But they didn't.
“That looks like something I would say.” She rolled her eyes at me and I almost chuckled.
“Kiki, you and I speak four languages; English, profanity, sarcasm, and real shit. So, no, it looks like something we can both say.” I deadpanned.
“Yeah, right." She rolled her eyes again, sounding unconvinced.
I decided to engage her since I caught her in the act. I just wanted to get a response from her.
“So, you were checking me out,” I said, smirking widely.
She eyed me, trying to act nonchalant and casual even though I could see the smile starting to warm up her face.
"I'm returning your nose dear, I found it in my business." She hissed.
“It becomes my business when I am the center of attraction.” I winked at her, enjoying her guts.
“Are you always this cocky?” She asked, raising a brow. I shoved my hands into the pockets of my pants and grinned at her.
I saw a smirk come up on her face and I fought a smile.
“Cocky is my middle name. You look different by the way." I told her, giving her a once over.
“Yeah. For once, I'm in Calisto and I'm not wearing my sales associate official uniform.” She pointed out the difference.
I just nodded and shrugged. Now, I was watching her every reaction from the CCTV camera in my office, as she spoke to the receptionist, her nerves kicking in.
Who knew a blunt mouth could be this nervous?
I was going to teach her a thing or two about respect. She needs to know that I'm her boss.
I’m Matteo Patrick, HR Director for Callisto brand, New York branch.” Matteo introduced himself to her. I could hear the reluctance in them. He didn't have a choice anyway.
"Kiki Ajayi.” She shook his hand.
“Right this way.” He motioned for her to follow him. She nodded reluctantly and began to move with him.
They went behind the security desk to a door that Matteo used his badge in opening. I watched them walk down the long hall, uncertainty written in bold letters on their face. They finally came by the conference room where they walked into. The room went dark when they stepped in, I could not be them again.
“Lights.” No sooner does Matteo say it did the lights come on. He pointed at the table for her. “Wherever you’re comfortable.”
“So Giovanni was quite impressed with you and you're here interviewing for an Executive Assistant position, something that you and I both know that you're very under-qualified for but what the boss wants, he gets, I guess. I don't know what he sees in you but you need to know he’s hard to work for._
This won’t be a cakewalk, and you’ll work for every penny of the generous compensation package we’re offering. He’ll expect you here by six a.m. and I doubt you’ll leave until he does. Gigi is married to this work.” Matteo started with a displeased look on his face. From his tone, I knew he was trying to get her to pull out of the interview but he didn't know who he was talking to.
I stopped watching the camera, picked up my phone, and began to stroll to the conference room where they were. I took my time, taking one step after the other. When I finally got to the door, I twisted the knob and burst it open. I walked into the room dressed formally.
My eyes met hers and for a few seconds, we stared at each other with me smiling until I broke the contact and turned around to stare at Matteo whose eyes had been on me since I stepped in.
Does Miss Ajayi have any objections to the position?” I snapped.
I saw her open her mouth like she wanted to say something before I cut in. “Is she a swindler, an escort, or a murderer?”
Matteo ran a hand through his hair, wrinkling his nose. “If she is, she’s doing it in style.”
“Exactly. Tell her to sign the contract, then, so she can get to work and we can finish this nonsense. I need her today,” I growled suddenly impatiently. I was aware that her eyes were on me.
“You...you do realize I’m still here, right? You don’t have to talk about me in the third person, you know.” She butted in.
I looked at her amused at her guts. She didn't even consider that this was her soon to he boss. I almost smiled but didn't. I had to be serious.
"Miss Ajayi, I want you to get something straight if you want to work here,” I started, locking eyes with her. “I’m the boss. You work under me. You won’t be using that spear of a tongue unless I want it put to work. Got it?” I folded my arms on the table and leaned into her very personal space. My nose caught a whiff of her perfume. They smelt heavenly.
“Now do you want this job or not?” I demanded.
She looked pissed at my tone. Probably not used to it that she pushed her chair back and got on her feet.“You know, on second thought, I don’t think I need to debase myself by working—” She started to say when I interrupted her again.
"Think fast before you walk.” I laughed, “Not many people get this kind of job with a freaking GED and one-hundred-thousand-dollar salaries don’t show up every day, especially for a waitress and social associate who have absolutely no experience.” I might have sounded harsh but I needed her to take the job.
Her face went red and I saw her take in a deep breath. “Wait, what? Did you...did you say One hundred thousand dollars? Per year?"
