Chapter 33: Skinny jeans and Black Blouses.

GIOVANNI.

I looked up when I heard her knock. It was her, I knew that. Sitting up in my seat, I ordered her to come in. She trotted in, and a displeased look settled on her face. She was probably starting to get frustrated with her work duties.

Too bad, I was just getting started.

I smirked, letting her stand awkwardly before me, the silence upon us while I was subtly checking her out. If this lady before me was sent to kill me before my time, congratulations to her cos she was already succeeding.

What was she thinking coming to work in those skinny jeans and black blouses that did nothing but exposed her cleavages to my sight? I know I wasn't supposed to be concentrated on it but damn, I'm a red-blooded man.

And the way her hair framed her face, the puffiness outlining that perfect face of hers down to her lips. It wasn't even coated yet it was making me crazy.

When she had flinched earlier, startled to see me leaning back on the door and watching her, she had taken my breath away, looking like a fucking angel sent from above.

Damn, maybe this work thing was a bad idea.

But I'd already indulged in it.

“Sir?” She called out to me, indirectly trying to remind me that she was standing before me, demanding my attention.

I pushed my laptop off a bit and leaned back in my chair to speak to her. “What is this?” I asked sternly, pointing at my cup of coffee.

With her brows raised, she gave me a confused look before looking at the coffee cup for a second. Then, she darted her gaze back to me.

“Your coffee, sir.” She said through gritted teeth, almost snapping. Her tone held the unspoken words ‘What kind of a question is that?’

“No, I thought it was choco. I meant, why isn't it hot? I hate cold coffee, Kiki.” I snapped.

She moved closer to my table and reached out for the coffee. She felt it and then looked at me, confusion was written all over her.

“It's not cold, sir.” She informed me. “It's just the normal temperature.” She added.

“I like my coffee hot. That is not hot enough, Kiki." I snapped. “Asides from that, this isn't the time I have my coffee. It's past that time because you couldn't make it on time. It's just your official first day and your lateness is already saying a lot!”

Sighing like she was exasperated, she spoke. “Sir, I already apologized about that earlier. It was not my intention to be late. This job needs a little getting used to.” She said.

“Oh really?” I raised a brow, imitating what she did earlier. “Why isn't my job done then? You have barely finished with what I asked you to do yesterday.” I demanded.

“Well, I would likely be done with it if I wasn't here answering unnecessary questions.” She snapped, getting upset. I smiled subtly. Then, she took in deep breaths to try and calm herself down.

She repeated the process, flinging her unpacked hair which had covered her face away. It was damn attractive. What she did. She started to pace around my office, muttering incorrigibles beneath her breath.

“You should have this.” I pointed at the cup of coffee when I'd had enough.

She stopped pacing to stare at me as if muttering a ‘really?’

“Kiki, take it and stop pacing,” I told her softly. She sighed, adjusted her blouse, and bent over to pick up the cup of coffee as I requested. She raised it to her lips to drink but stopped to ask for the final permission. I encouraged her with a smile. Afterward, I watched her down the cup of coffee in one gulp.

She finished, breathing heavily with perspiration that had broken out on her face adorning it. She relaxed visibly and stared at me, awaiting orders.

“I hope you are okay now?” I asked her. She nodded, breaking off a smile.

“Good!” I smiled. “Cos you will need the energy for work. All of it.” I added. The smile on her face wiped off at my statement.

“I should have known that it was too good to be true. I'm never going to fall for this again. Idiot.” She mumbled, a scowl set on her face.

I looked up from my laptop which I had gone back to. “I'm sorry, did you say something Kiki?” I asked her trying to chase off the smile making its way to my face.

“Of course not.” She grinned. “What I was trying to say was that you look like you are on a mission to trouble me to death.” She said, her nose sneering.

I smiled, unable to resist any longer.

“Oh really?” I raised an amused brow, swerving my chair around. “Well, that is true cos right here, I have this document I would like you to prepare. All you have to do as been stated on it.” I picked up the file and handed it to her, the scowl on her face turning into a frown.

“I need the document for a meeting scheduled in a few hours so, I want that done immediately. At least, that would give me enough time to cross-check. I can't afford any loss and incompetence.” I ordered.

“You should have added to your criteria before I was employed.” She snapped. “Oh, I'm sorry, you did. My bad but then, I thought the workers are trusted to play their parts. Too bad it's not the same way here.” She tsked in pretense.

I shook my head.

“I want that done now, Kiki.” My tone told her I wasn't joking.

“I'm sorry sir but I don't know what I'm to do with the other files on my desk. I certainly can't do it all at once.” She continued.

“Do you even remember everything I've been” saying?" I snapped, starting to get pissed. “Obviously not cos if you do, you won't be blabbing what is not. Kiki, I need that attended to now.” I finished. She paused and heaved a sigh before turning around to walk out of my office.

“On it, sir.” She mumbled after her.
