Chapter 36: Diaries and smiles.
KIKI.
I walked out of the office, furious. I couldn't believe him. I couldn't believe his guts!
Did he know what I had to endure back there? Obviously not. He thought I didn't notice? The old man's subtle looks. The old man touches and handshakes that felt like an eternity. The whole flirting?
He probably thought I enjoyed it.
But I didn't. I didn't enjoy it at all. It took everything in me not to shove him into a pile of rags and wipe that lusty look off his face.
When he started to lose the investor, all I could think was that there was something I could do. This man was smitten by me so even if I said rubbish, he would have still bought it. I knew the way.
Yet, I didn't say rubbish. I thought things through before I started to speak, convincing him from my heart to purchase the shoes. But the damn fool didn't see that. All he took note of was that I interfered in his business. There would be no business if I hadn't butted in.
How could he even think I was wrong?
Then, he started to yell at me like I was a kid not even bothering to acknowledge my positive efforts. All he talked about was that I wasn't part of his creative team. Because I'm dumb or what?
What in the world did he see me as?
I shook my head, collapsing on my chair. My hair framed my face and I almost pulled at it before I realized that I would only be hurting myself. I needed to get a band for it fast. This couldn't go on.
I pulled the laptop out and continued to delete his emails. I wasn't still done because he kept interrupting me in the middle of work. Oh, he had insulted my diary too.
What was it about me that irritated him?
As far as I was concerned, the diary was nice so I didn't get what he was on about. That was his problem anyway.
I went on, determined to be done with the job that day. But the more I delete, the more I realized that it was more. This kind of thing was exhausting seriously.
A few more minutes into it, I slammed my hand on the desk, feeling tired. All the snapping and yelling had drained me. There wouldn't have been a need for yelling and snapping if it wasn't for a cocky idiot.
My stomach grumbled making me realize that I hadn't had anything to eat all day. I shut the laptop close and picked up my phone. I had to get something to eat. Probably, it would help me to relax.
I adjusted my blouse to cover up my exposed breast but it didn't do much. I started to move towards the door when I realized that I couldn't leave without seeking permission from the boss as demanded by the rules.
I groaned wondering why I just had to return to his office now. My eyes darted towards my pink diary and I picked it up, leafing through the pages to check what was next in the schedule.
Well, we were off for the rest of the day to the glory of God. I sighed.
Suddenly, I gasped, excitement shooting through me. I was off for the weekend which meant I could take enough rest and spend time with JoJo. That was relieving and it gave me a good kind, of course, zeal for the rest of the day. At least, I could rest during the weekends cos the boss is traveling.
I put the diary down, smoothed my hair, and began to walk toward his office, taking one step after the other slowly. I needed to take my time cos once I was in there, everything always happened so fast.
He was on the laptop when I walked in. He must have probably heard the click of my old heels which attracted him into raising his head.
“Yes?” He demanded, his voice still stern. He was still pissed at me even though I did nothing wrong. I sighed, opening my mouth to speak when he started to talk again.
“And Kiki, how many times would I have to tell you to knock for permission before you step into my office before it starts to sink in?” He asked.
“I'm sorry. The door was open.” I informed him.
“And so? That is the more reason why you should knock. ” He snapped.
“I said I'm sorry. What else am I supposed to say? What do you even take me for?" I was starting to get annoyed.
“You think I'm dumb? Or that I'm a toddler who can't follow simple instructions or what?” I continued. He chuckled.
“You are not far from one, Kiki. Since I have to tell you every damn time.” He chuckled again.
“That is rude. The fact that you are my boss doesn't give you the right to say that to me. I'm so glad I will be off your cocky ass tomorrow.” I mumbled.
“Says who?” He eyed me.
“Says the schedule. You are traveling tomorrow, duh.” I informed him.
“And you think you aren't? ”He asked me, throwing me into confusion. He laughed when he saw my office.
“Wow, you thought that. My PA thought that when her boss is going on a business trip, there was no need for her to go with him.” He mocked me.
“I didn't know.” I snapped, disappointment washing over me. No more free days for me.
“Apparently. Did you not read your contract properly?” He asked. “Yet, she said she didn't act like a toddler.” He muttered the last part to himself but I could still hear him.
“You should pack your stuff. Pack light though. I wouldn't want you delaying me tomorrow.” He told me. I nodded.
“I'm going out to grab something to eat. Do you want anything?” I asked him changing the subject when my stomach grumbled again.
“Just order them. It would be delivered to you." He informed me. I nodded.
“Don't you want anything?” I asked.
“No, I'm good." He flashed me one of his sexiest smile cos I can bet he has a million.
And at that moment, I couldn't help but think that he looked hot with his smile.
He should learn to smile more. So it could continue to melt my heart.
Definitely.
