34. Fighting my Demons
I kept looking at the light with hope in my heart when I heard Ivy's warm voice.
I start running towards her wanting to hug her and tell her how much she means to me. I realised this at the time she was gone. I felt so alone then, abandoned by everyone; friends, family, even the one I love more than anything and was supposed to love me back. They left me alone. Alone in a world that wants to bring me to my knees, to destroy my soul, and transform me to aches. I needed her to be with me, to guide me. Otherwise, I will get lost in this fucked up world.
I stop a few feet away from her. The light that surrounded her was now big enough to illuminate that dark place. Her black fur was glowing like it was covered in silver dust, and her golden eyes were watching my every move.
"Ivy!" I yell and start running again towards her with a big smile on my face.
But she took a step back and shook her head.
Smoke surrounded me, and in the next second, when it disappeared, I was home.
Confused, I look around, trying to understand what is happening, only to see my mom playing with a kid that seems to be a younger version of mine.
"Mom!" I shouted when tears flooded my eyes.
She looked at me, and the little me faded away.
"What are you doing here? Are you stalking me now?" She yells at me, annoyed.
"But, mom, I…."
"What is going on here?" The voice of my father came from behind her.
I didn't understand what was going on. Not at all.
"Dad?"
"Amaya?! What are you doing here?" He said, stepping towards me. But stops and looks at my mom.
"Talia? What is the meaning of this? Why is she here? I told you to leave her there."
Shattered. This is how my heart was. My body went numb. I couldn't move or breathe. Didn't they want me? They… they left because of me? Both of them abandoned me?
"But why?" I managed to say between the sobs that were escaping me.
"Why?! Because you are a burden to me. To us. Why should I waste my time raising a child that is good for nothing, uh?" He spits out with venom in his words.
I fell to the ground hearing what he said. But the ground crumbles beneath my feet, and I fall into darkness again.
I looked around me again when I noticed that I was in a forest. But I was alone. No one was there. I sit next to a tree on the leaves covered ground and let the tears fall freely.
Giggling makes me stop and get up. I followed the sound to see who was there this time. Maybe I am back to normal. But what I see almost kills me on the spot. Oren was kissing another woman while caressing her face. He was looking at her with so much love and caring.
"I love you so much! More than anything!" He said and pecked her lips softly.
She smiles at him and kisses him back.
My heart breaks into a million pieces that turn to dust.
She notices me and pulls back, making Oren turn around.
"Amaya?! What the hell are you doing here, uh? Shouldn't you be somewhere else?"
I could not open my mouth to say anything. I step back, holding my aching heart. He betrayed me. This was worse than before.
Suddenly, more people appeared behind the trees.
They were all laughing and pointing at me. My friends were happy to see me suffer.
"Did you think that you were good enough for my brother?" Evolet asks.
"Oh, poor Amaya! She is so broken! Look at her! Her parents didn't want her, nor her soulmate or friends. But wait! We were never your friends!" Willow added while Leon and the others were laughing and nodded their heads.
I took one more step back and closed my eyes, thinking that this is just a nightmare.
I could hear their evil laughter and their steps following me. So I took another step back and another till my back hit a tree. They came closer and started pushing me from one to another, calling me names. But they stopped when Oren put his hand up.
I smile at him, thinking that he realised this is wrong. But the way he was looking at me told me how bad I was.
His fist collided with my face before his hand grabbed my throat. He was choking me, and I knew that he wouldn't stop. So I let him do what he wanted. I felt my body shut down, but when I was about to faint, he threw me to the ground.
Their laughter disappeared, and I kept my eyes closed, afraid of what I could see. But a growl made me open them.
I knew it was Ivy, so I got up and looked at her with hope. She was the only one left.
But she starts growling, taking a fighting position.
Without giving me any chance, she sprints towards me and bites my shoulder. An ear-deafening scream escapes me, and I fall on my knees.
She looks at me for a moment, blood covering her snout and growls again, ready to attack. The look into her eyes hurt me more than the injuries. She was satisfied with my pain, but not enough to stop. When she bites my legs, then my arms and torso, I don't scream anymore, even if the pain was unbearable. Instead, I bite my lips till I feel blood flooding my mouth while tears stream down my face.
She was me… and even she turned against me, hurting me in the worst way possible. Not physically, but mentally. My heart was bleeding more than my wounds. My demons were out asking for blood.
