"Hurry hurry hurry" Emily whispered as she paced the bathroom. She stopped and went to the bathroom counter to look at it"
"Well what does it say." Lindsay asked from where she sat on the closed toilet sit.
"What does two red line mean?" Emily replied.
"Dude you read this shit for an hour before you took the test and you don't know what two red lines mean" Alex said laughing.
"Congratulations." Lindsay said.
"Yeah, I'm going to be an amazing godmother slash rich aunty." Alex said hugging her. Emily was speechless. She had expected because she had gone of the pill and Anthony was aware and they still went bareback. It's like they non verbally agreed to have a child.
So why was she so stuck.
"Come on it's going to be alright I'm sure, I'm sure Anthony's going to be ecastic." Lindsay said.
"I hope so."
"Come I know Anthony, he's going to go through the roof."
"You sure?"
"Of course." Alex assured.
"Now do you want to call him or wait for the guys to get back?" Lindsay asked. Because Anthony, Hayden and Jacob which was Alex's new boyfriend of two and a half years went to get some meat and other stuff for the barbecue they were all having today.
Emily had been feeling weird for a couple of day when Alex told her to take a pregnancy test and voila she was pregnant, it's been confirmed.
Anthony and Hayden managed to be civil or even got closer as Lindsay and Emily started to hang out more. There was never anything for her to say to Hayden apart from the usual greeting and small talk. Things have been great this past three years. She was finally able to launch her beauty care like with her lip glosses then she moved on the eyeshadow palette, blushes, lip masks, eyeliners then eyelashes. She working on her foundation line that will be coming in just two months she could not have been more excited.
"Babe." Emily heard Someone called from outside the door then recognized it was Anthony.
"Yeah."
"Wanted to ask if Lindsay and Alex where in there with you."
"Do I need to ask why?"
"Girls stuff."she lied, well technically it wasn't?
"Okay I'll leave you to it just wanted you to know we were back."
After building her courage with the help of Lindsay and Alex she stepped out. The girls helped the guys set the table while the guy were outside in the hot sun mind you with the grill. She was setting a plate down when she heard the door bell.
"I'll get it." Emily said walking to the door. She say it was Charlie and buzzed him in.
"I brought wine." Charlie said as he entered. She greeted him with their usual kiss on each cheek. Alex and Lindsay both took turn in greeting him as they entered the dining room area. Then he went out to be with the guys
When they were done setting the table she went to call the guy to come in.
So far lunch went great, they ate amazing food, conversations flowed easily it was just perfect. After a while they all started to leave until it was just Emily and Anthony. Anthony went to the bathroom to ease himself while she went to the living room. She would have loved a glass of wine as she sat down but she couldn't because of the baby so she took a glass of water and waited for Anthony to come back out.
"So what's it you wanted to talk about.?" Anthon6asked as he took a seat at the side of her in the couch. She didn't know what to say so she went for the direct approach. She took his hand, moved his hand downward, the she pressed it to her belly. Anthony's eyes widened when she pressed his hand harder against her.
“Are we having a baby?”
“We’re having a baby,” she confirmed softly. Anthony started hooping and yelling, then jumped of the couch and picked her up, swinging both of them in circles.
"Woah, slow down, the last thing you want is for me to puke on you." Emily said smiling, heart filled with joy at his reaction.
"Sorry babe, I'm just so happy." He said and she noticed his eyes were filled with tears.
"Happy tears?"
"Happy tears." He confirmed.
They both called their parents to tell them the news and as expected her mom busted into tears so did his. It took a while to calm them down but eventually they did. It was just a happy day for the family.
Two years later.......
“How do I look Mum? Dad?” Emily asked, turning from the mirror in the waiting room to the side of the chapel.
“Amazing ” Her mum said dabbing a tissue to her eyes. Emily took the bouquet of pink roses from her dad and gave a deep breath.
“I didn’t want to be so nervous, I would have felt better if Nancy wasnt sleeping ” she confided looking back at her daughter sleeping in Alex's arm. Alex gave her a reassuring smile.
“It’s not every day one gets married, so it's okay to be nervous. I wasn't this calm when I was marrying your mother” her dad said.
“I still can’t believe we’re actually doing this.” Hearing the music begin, her dad and she walked to the huge oak door. Gathering all her courage, Emily nodded at the dark-suited chapel parishioner to enter the wedding area with Alex and her mom following her down the short aisle. They had paid for a private ceremony with only Alex, her parents, Anthony's parents, Lindsay, Hayden and Alex's boyfriend. Who were all waiting. The minister began the ceremony and it was short,it wasn’t long before Anthony was sliding a wedding band onto her finger and she him. Turning to the cheers from her family, Emily leaned into Anthony so he could kiss his bride.
Because of the cheers Nancy woke up and immediately reached for her dad which made Emily laugh, she had him wrapped around her finger and he didn't even know it, still in denial. Emily gave her a kiss on the head and cleared her throat.
“Thank you all for coming today. Means alot. Now that this is done, why done we all go to the rented restaurant to eat and have a good time?."
"Cheers to that." Alex said and everyone else agreed.
Everything ended well at the end of the day. That was what she was grateful for most of all today. If someone had told her this was going to be her life eights years ago she would have laughed in their face.
Life. You never really know with it.
