Chapter 15 : Evil plans
Maya
As soon as she was out of sight of Rylan and his friends, she picked up speed and ran to meet where Nathan had chosen to meet her. The night's mission had been a success, she had absorbed the power of the mighty she-wolf, but he reminded her that her strength would have to grow even more if she was to cooperate with his ambitions. Though her strength was now far beyond what it had been before he entered her life, the woman wondered how much longer she would have to keep increasing her power before she felt ready.
But she no longer cared. She felt indebted to him for what he had done and wanted to help him. The dense forest was no problem for the powerful wolf as she moved through the dark night. Her strength and instincts made it easy for her to move through the dense foliage in the dark. Her abilities far exceeded those of an ordinary human, especially on a night like this. She managed to reach a secluded spot in the forest and quickly transformed back into her human form. As she stood there, her original clothes revealed her identity.
Nathan had told her he would be waiting for her there. She felt a little proud and special to be given the opportunity to meet the man in person, while the other followers were not. She felt that he treated her well. However, at a time like this, the man should not be waiting for her, it should be the other way around.
However, her thoughts were interrupted as the atmosphere became tense and tension filled the air. A man appeared out of the darkness, dressed in all black. She immediately gave the appropriate salute and waited for permission to get up. The man carried an attractive mysterious aura, and his dark brown eyes radiated an inexplicable fear in her heart.
"How polite of you, Maya. I am very happy to see your polite attitude towards me. You may stand," he told her in a calm yet firm voice.
She nodded and stood up. Their eyes met and she felt something strange in his aura, something that made her feel uneasy. Even though he had saved her and helped to strengthen her powers, there were still many secrets about him that needed to be revealed.
Ignoring the doubts in her mind, she said, "I want to serve you, Nathan."
He chuckled, enjoying her confusion at his reaction. "Tell me, have you completed your mission?" he asked.
"Yes, and I believe I have news that will be of great interest to you," she said confidently.
"Tell me about it," he urged.
"To begin with, Karen is a young hybrid girl who somehow managed to break through the barrier created by Xavier Westwood. She was forced to defend herself against the attempts of other fighters to defeat or even kill her." His eyebrows arched in surprise.
"Is that so? I doubt Xavier would tolerate such an insult."
"But there's something odd, Nathan. I managed to befriend the girl for a short time, and she led me to believe that Xavier allowed her to stay and fight there. He even took the girl with him when I was forced to flee after she caught me absorbing power from another she-wolf. I think Xavier came when he sensed your aura coming from me and took the girl for questioning," she said.
He was very excited about this development. He wasn't too worried that Xavier would interfere with his plans. He might be a little disappointed that his new followers were no longer a secret and could not be used as a surprise in the future, but he did not see it as a serious problem.
"What about his half-brother? Why isn't he with the girl?" he asked curiously.
She smiled. "I met him and his friends outside the Westwood barrier. Disguised as someone else, I managed to reach a temporary truce with them, making them believe that I would help them find the girl. The plan was to destroy them when they were caught off guard and when they were less suspicious of me."
He laughed quietly at this story. He realized that because of his influence, she did not fully understand the hatred of betrayal, so he could use such tactics to his advantage without affecting her mind. It was funny and ironic.
The man saw her look at him with a face full of question marks, not quite getting the joke. He just grinned, and his brown eyes sparkled with a joy that had a not-so-saintly character.
"Excellent work, Maya. You have made me very happy," he praised, knowing that praising this woman would strengthen the bond between them when she felt she had accomplished something. He had big plans for himself - although her involvement with Rylan had brought about a major change in his plans. He saw a great opportunity in her position within the group, and he intended to take advantage of the situation.
Her cheeks flushed with gratitude, she said, "Thank you, Nathan." She was glad she had made him feel good. Compliments from this man were rare, and the woman longed to feel accepted and appreciated.
"You must not kill them until I say so," he said decisively.
The woman frowned, but finally she obeyed his command with firmness. She found it strange why he wanted to delay killing them. Wasn't the important thing that it happened, no matter when? But she had no right to question his plans for his revenge on his enemies, just as he had no right to have any influence on her plans about Karen. She felt that the subject of Karen was something they could discuss later, perhaps after his enemies were dead. It could always be arranged. Surely he would be satisfied with the outcome and she would leave together with Karen. She didn't want to think about what would happen if he refused and asked for
Karen's life.
"Why do you have such a gloomy look on your face Maya? Is there something on your mind?" he asked when he saw the thoughtful look on her face.
She quickly assured him that everything was fine. "No, Nathan. I was just thinking about Rylan and how you want him dead."
He chuckled again, signaling her impatience. "Everything is going according to plan. I want to enjoy my revenge."
She nodded her head in understanding, relieved not to have to discuss her true thoughts right now.
"Stay close to Rylan and his friends. Try to find out more about how Karenina got involved with Xavier," he ordered before disappearing into the darkness. The dark brown eyes turned blood red before he disappeared completely.
