Chapter 95 : Clash of Alphas
Karenina
If he attacked her, would she really stand a chance against an Alpha? And if there was a fight, would she try to kill him? Surely she would start a war between the Bloodmoon Pack and the Westwood Pack if she managed to kill Chase before he killed her, which she couldn't do. Should she bind him? At least long enough for her to escape?
Rage turned the handsome face of the Alpha Bloodmoon Pack into a terrible snarl.
"You had the audacity to wound my daughter with one of your spirit arrows, and even attempt to kill her, and then take her from me. I have come here to pay you back with your miserable life, you filthy hybrid."
She didn't have a chance to answer. Instead, Chase lunged at her.
With a surge of her spiritual energy, she fell to the ground with the speed of a wolf's aura energy, forming a barrier around her bent form. The smaller the barrier, the less energy she had to use to create it. It didn't matter. Chase lunged with such force that her shield swayed.
He growled at Karen and bared his fangs, his eyes red with bloodlust.
Oh shit!
Sending more waves of energy into her shield, she could almost feel the blows raining down from Chase. Dear Moon Goddess! What power! And she had to defend herself without killing him? Nothing had ever gotten past her barrier since she learned the technique over a year ago. Yet Chase was threatening to do so with only her power.
"Stop it, Alpha Chase!"
BAM!
He didn't listen.
Chase slammed into his barrier again. She gasped at the force of the blow and quickly put more energy into her barrier to keep it standing.
"I am the chosen mate of Xavier, Alpha of the Westwood Pack! By attacking me, you are creating a war between the Bloodmoon Pack and the Westwood Pack. Is that really what you want?!"
Bam, bam, BAM!
"As if an Alpha like him, who is so great, would have a pathetic half-human hybrid as his mate when my daughter is here to stand beside him with pride and honor!"
Chase attacked her barrier again, but this time with a wolf aura that amplified his blows. She had a few precious seconds before he tore through her defenses. Karen raised both hands and moved them in complex motions, her spiritual energy pulsing around her. She intended to bind him with her magic, but along with her spiritual power, her wolf aura surfaced to reflexively aid her defense. Immediately, her spiritual energy churned, trying to attack his wolf aura, seeing it as a new threat. Within seconds, the two energies battled and her concentration was broken, her binding spell incomplete and unspoken.
Karen screamed. Like her binding spell, her barrier faltered, losing strength. She barely felt the barrier fall as Chase hit her again.
"What the... What the hell... Who are you?" Chase staggered and stopped, staring at her with wide eyes.
She clutched her chest, unable to focus on him as her spiritual energy and the wolf's aura energy battled for supremacy. Red and blue electricity coursed through her body, several jagged sparks flying outward. One struck a tree, flames erupting from its trunk as it fell to the ground. Another struck a boulder, its fragments shooting everywhere from the impact. Others scattered harmlessly on the ground.
"So what Alpha Xavier said was true. You have the energy of the Wolf Lord's aura along with your spiritual energy." Chase gave her a pitiful look, disgusted by her lack of self-control, which proved yet again that she was not worthy of being the Luna of the Westwood Pack. A half-human hybrid who possessed the spiritual energy and aura energy of a wolf. She was more of a hideous thing than a rogue, a creature that was not meant to exist.
"I will end your suffering."

Chase
He continued to move forward, but as if sensing his evil plan, her resistance aura turned against him, hitting him with pulses of electricity that tore through his skin. Bloodied and angry, he roared and attacked her with his wolf aura energy. The attack hit Karen right in the chest. Even as her energies increased to protect her, to shield her from his attack, they did not work together as one, and she was thrown backward.
Her head struck a tree, knocking her unconscious. Her energy was drained, leaving her helpless.
When he reached Karen, he stretched out his arms with murderous intent. But he never reached her. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a dagger swinging toward him, ready to cut off his head from his shoulders. He ducked, then jumped back a few steps as the Alpha Xavier arrived and placed himself between him and Karen.
"You dare to ruin our friendship by attacking my future mate?"
Chase snarled, inflamed by the impromptu interruption.
"She doesn't deserve to be your mate! Besides, she tried to kill my daughter. I will kill her for her actions."
"Your daughter was injured in my competition for the title of my mate. All the contestants know the danger. Death at the hands of another greedy she-wolf is a possibility, and your daughter accepted that danger as well as they did," he raged, his wolf aura growing stronger as it pulsed around them in anger.
"As if that justifies her-"
"Alpha Chase!"
Both males stiffened as a she-wolf interrupted them. She approached Xavier with a worried expression on her face. She bowed low to him, ignoring Chase as she spoke.
"Alpha Xavier. I have been informed of the danger to Luna Karenina and have come to bring her to safety if that is your wish." She bowed again.
Xavier stared at Karen's maid for a few moments before he made a gesture for her to get up. "Take your Luna to her room. Keep a watch nearby until I get back. Alpha Chase and I have unfinished business to talk about."
"Yes, Alpha Xavier," Helga said with relief and hurried away from him.
He kept some distance between the two women and the Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack to make sure they could leave safely.
When they were gone, Helga held her in her arms while Chase growled.
"How did you know I was here?" He demanded.
He couldn't understand it. He thought he had plenty of time to get rid of that pesky little bitch, Karen before anyone found out. How did Alpha Xavier find out about his plans so quickly?
"Your daughter told me."
He gasped in surprise. "You're lying! Elena would never do that! She wouldn't protect someone who tried to kill her or give up the chance to mate with the man she wanted. And that happens to be you, Alpha Xavier."
"I'm not lying."
Chase opened his mouth to speak, but a strange scent caught his attention. He stepped back, away from the pack house of his fellow Alpha.
"Nathaniel," Xavier spat before looking at him with cold eyes. "We'll finish this conversation later."
Then he left. Not wanting to be left behind, especially after hearing the name of the scummy rogue who had been a plague on his territory lately, Chase followed him.
