Chapter 27 A Bloodthirsty Monster
Chapter 27 A Bloodthirsty Monster
Flashback Over
"Mia, we will do something to fix his problem, but before we can do that, we need to know what is going on with Jonathan. Please, for some time, stay away from him. You have already seen how dangerous he has become. Even in his dreams, he doesn't want to hurt you because he loves you, Mia. The day he accepted you, he was brimming with joy, but only that day he began to struggle with this issue, and once more he had to part ways with you."
I became numb after listening to James’s words. I had been blaming him for a month, because I was unaware that he would be experiencing worse pain than I was.
As I dejectedly closed my eyes, fresh tears rolled down my cheeks.
‘Today I learned that living a vampire's life is harder and more painful than living a human life.’
"I can stay away from him, but, I want to meet him for the last time, James. Please take me to him for the last time." As I implored, he freaked out.
"Are you out of your mind, Mia? Didn't you see what Jonathan did to you? He nearly murdered you just a few hours ago. After seeing humans, he forgets who they are. Mia, please try to understand." He explained to me.
"James, please. I will just see him from far away. I want to see with my own eyes whether he is okay or not, because only then will I be able to spend my days without him. Please, James, for once." I looked at him with pleading eyes, and he just stared at me in a daze.
"Today, I'm witnessing how strong true love is. Even after knowing that he has become dangerous for you, you still want to meet him. I am speechless." As James spoke in disbelief, I gave him a faint smile.
‘He said right; my love is strong for Jonathan, and no power can stand in the way of my love.’
“So will you take me to Jonathan, James?” I inquired, my eyes pleading with him.
“Do I have any other option?” As he asked, arching his brows at me, I shook my head, smiling slightly.
“No.” I chuckled.
“Then let’s go.” As he said, I nodded before rising from bed.

We reached Jonathan's house, and I won't lie that I wasn't afraid at that time; my heart was thumping with fright. I could feel the danger.
I was weak because of his attack, and my neck was still hurting, but I knew that I would only be relieved when I saw Jonathan fine with my own eyes.
"Mia, please stay inside the car. I'm just checking in to see where Jonathan is. Don’t come out until I come.” As James instructed me in a stern tone, I just nodded at him in response.
He went inside to look for Jonathan, and I stayed in the car.
"Jonathan.” My eyes dilated in terror and I murmured when I saw Jonathan standing in front of my car.
He reached up to my car in a jiffy, and my heartbeat accelerated and I stared at him with my eyes filled with fear. At that moment, I just froze in my place due to terror.
"Open the door, aaahaa... " He was yelling, beating his hand on the glass window and trying to open the door like a lunatic.
After seeing him in this condition, I flinched in terror and felt a stabbing ache in my heart. He was turning into a bloodthirsty monster, and his condition was causing me more pain than anything else.
‘Mia, first you have to protect yourself. He isn’t in the condition to understand anything. So run.’
I hurriedly shifted to the driver's seat and started the car's engine and drove away before he could open the door.
I wanted to comfort him, but I knew that if I did, he would try to kill me just like before. I wasn't worried about being physically wounded by him, but I was holding back from comforting him out of concern that he would feel bad for hurting me.
My love for him was selfless and true. I wasn't terrified of dying; rather, I was afraid of seeing my love in more misery or guilt.
"I will do anything to make him fine,” I promised myself this while driving at full speed through the forest, since he was chasing after my car. My heartbeat was accelerating in fright with the speed of the car.
My car smashed into a tree as I turned around to face him, and my head hit the steering wheel.
"Aaha.." I cried out in pain, holding my bleeding forehead.
I tried to start the car's engine again in a hurry but it wouldn't start while Jonathan was getting closer to me. I was filled with dread.
He opened the door and dragged me out of the car by roughly seizing my wrist in a swift motion.
"Jon-Jonathan, I-I a…am your… Mia. I love you-you so much. Come ba… back to you… your senses, plea-please stop hurting me and yourself." Because his dark, thirsty gaze was locked on the blood stain on my forehead, my lips quivered and I stammered over my words in extreme fear.
"Jonathan, look into my eyes, see how much I love you. Please, come back to your senses. What happened to you?" I tried everything to persuade him, but all he did was stare at my wounded forehead.
As his canine teeth became larger and his eyes turned bright red, my breath caught in my throat because I knew what was about to happen.
"No, Jonathan, please." I frantically cried out as he attacked my already wounded neck after pulling my head back by harshly grasping my hair.
I immediately moved back after suddenly not feeling any movement from him, but I palmed my mouth and gasped in horror at the sight of him. He turned into a frozen statue.
‘What happened to him? Is he dead?’ My head spun and I felt dizzy when this mere thought crossed my mind. ‘No, no, this can’t happen.’ I frantically shook my head, shedding tears of grief.
I lifted my hand to touch him, but before I could, James came in front of me.
"Hurry up, Mia. You must leave before Jonathan unfreezes again." As he told me that Jonathan would unfreeze, I closed my eyes and sighed with profound relief.
‘Thank God, I was thinking wrong. My Jonathan will be alright. But what happened to him?’ As I thought, my brows narrowed in confusion.
"What happened to him suddenly, James?" I questioned, glancing at Jonathan; I was anxious for him.
"I froze him. Mia, I had a special power that allowed me to freeze people for a few minutes." I nodded, understanding what he was saying.
I looked at Jonathan with sorrowful eyes, tears streaming down my cheeks because I had to leave him.
‘When will our suffering end?’ I wondered while my doleful gaze fixed on my Jonathan.
"Mia, you need to go, please. You have to understand, Jonathan is craving human blood, he is not in his senses, and he gets mad after seeing a human." As James explained things to me, I cast one final gloomy glance at Jonathan before departing with James.

I reached my home, disheartened. It was night. I was just wondering about what happened today.
‘James assured me that he would look into what happened to Jonathan and keep me up to date, but I can't live without him. I desperately need him, but he is not in a condition to meet me. Jonathan, I love and miss you a lot. I'm eagerly looking forward to the day when everything will be back to normal and we can live happily together.’
‘Mom will be worried about me. I should check her.’ I thought and strolled towards her room. When I found her sleeping peacefully, I ambled towards her and properly tucked her in the quilt. I placed a soft kiss on her forehead and tiptoed out of her room.
My eyes widened in horror as I entered my room and saw Mom seated there. She was dozing off in her room only a moment earlier, and now she was seated in mine. How could this be possible?
‘No, you can't even tell Nora and Amir about us because my enemy has the ability to change her physical appearance; she can transform into Nora or Amir in a split second, so don't trust anyone, not even your friends.’ Everything became clear to me as I recalled Jonathan's words.
‘She must be Jonathan’s enemy, but what is she doing here? Why did she transform herself into my mom? Is she responsible for Jonathan's worst condition?' My mind began to race with questions as I stared at her, perplexed.
