Chapter 33 Who Am I?
Chapter 33 Who Am I?
“Actually, Jonathan, I’ve been becoming stronger with each passing second since last night.” His brows furrowed in puzzlement as I told him.
“Wait a minute, let me give you an example.” I rose from the bed and walked over to the table.
I picked up the glass, and it cracked with barely any pressure. He ran over to me and examined my hands with his face filled with worry.
As my wounds recovered right away, he breathed a sigh of relief.
“How are you doing this? Who are you?” He fixed me with a wide-eyed look of disbelief.
I shrugged my shoulders, having no clue about this this. “I’m puzzled about what happened to me so suddenly, and why I’m abruptly getting powerful. It appears like God has given me this power as a gift to end Katrina.” I assumed, and when I took Katrina’s name, his lips drew down in sadness.
“Mia, please don’t take her name, and I’ll never allow you to fight her.” His voice was sharp and solemn.
I could sense his worry and fear of losing me, so I chose not to argue for the moment, but I was determined to confront Katrina and kill her.
‘She has caused us enough suffering; now she must pass away.’
“It’s okay, I won’t talk about her.” As I blinked my eyes and placed my hand on his face, he gave me a faint smile.
“Tell me more about your powers. I wanna know.” As he asked with a hint of curiosity in his eyes, I nodded.
“Jonathan, I pushed James like this, and he-” As I shoved Jonathan in the same way that I had shoved James, he fell far from me and struck the wall.
“Oh my god, what have I done?” I mumbled and dashed over to him.
“I’m sorry, Jonathan. My intention was not to hit you; I was just telling you.” I apologise because I injured him and felt a sense of guilt wash over me because I didn’t mean to hurt him.
I helped him in standing by holding his arm, staring at him with guilt in my eyes, and as he noticed my expression, he held my face with his hands.
“Mia, relax. I am fine. I know you are becoming powerful, but don’t forget that I am also a vampire, so just relax. You didn’t hurt me, I am absolutely fine now.” I felt a calming warmth radiating from his thumbs as he stroked my cheeks and I sighed.
“You know, I’m feeling like a free bird right now, and it’s all because of you. You are my angel, Mia, and I never want to lose you.” As he expressed his genuine emotions, I felt a wave of contentment wash over me, and a smile spread across my face.
I was so relieved because he was finally breaking free from his grief and guilt and listening to his heart.
He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on my forehead. I closed my eyes, feeling blissful.
I heard only the sound of our breathing as we looked into each other’s eyes.
“Jonathan, you know God gave me the best gift on my birthday by giving you back to me, I love you so much. I can’t live without you, please, never ask me to leave you because it hurts a lot, Jonathan.” I expressed my genuine emotions.
“I'm sorry-” He was about to say something more, but paused and stared at me in shock as a thought crossed his mind.
‘Suddenly, what happened to him?’ My mind raced in confusion.
“How it could be possible?” He murmured in utter disbelief, and before I could ask something, he asked me, “Is today your birthday?”
I nodded. “Yes, what happened?” I arch my brows at him.
“Mia, when did you feel you were gaining strength?”
“Last night, when I was coming back home, Katrina came in front of my car and after that, she bit me and I pushed her.” I told him everything while he just stared at me in disbelief.
“Jonathan, is everything alright? What happened? Do you know why I am getting these powers?” I asked him, the curiosity in my voice palpable.
“Mia, maybe I know who you are, but it is impossible.” As he shook his head incredulously, I became more curious to know the impossible reality of my life.
‘My life has been like a mystery movie ever since Jonathan stepped into it. After discovering that he and his best friend are vampires, I learned that his friend’s evil vampire sister is obsessed with him and my best friend is a witch. Now I’m unsure of what an impossible person I am. However, I’m quite excited; this life is far better than my earlier boring life.’ I stared at him, pondering about my mysterious life.
“Tell me, what are you thinking, who I am? Now I’m going crazy to know the reality.” I became desperate.
“You’re a Pari.” As he told me, my brows narrowed in confusion.
“Pari means Angel? Am I an Angel?” As I enquire, he shook his head in response.
“You are, without a doubt, my angel, but Pari does not mean angel here. Many years ago, when I was not even born, there was a group of a few women who used to fight for and support underprivileged people. They were kind and caring, almost like social workers. One day, God blessed them with superhuman abilities that were superior to those of vampires, witches, and humans. They became immortal, and people began referring to them as Paris.” It felt like I was listening to an interesting story, but it was a reality of my life.
‘According to Jonathan, I’m a Pari. I can’t believe it.’ I shake my head.
“How do you know about Pari’s history? How did you find out that I am Pari, and where are all the Pari now? Why didn’t James tell me about this?” I bombarded him with questions.
“Mia, all the Pari died a few years ago, so I’m not sure if you’re a Pari or not.” As he spoke, he gave me a wide-eyed expression of incredulity.
“What? How did they die if they were the immortals and most powerful people on the earth?” My voice was full of shock as I asked him.
