Sabotage

Ashlyn's POV

"Milady?" Roselia said behind me. Sometimes I was baffled about why she liked me. Why her likeness was so intense and why she called me with respect? I was just her master's mistress and nothing more.

I do not even think he's told anyone I was his mate or did a few lycans get a whiff of it the night he claimed me?

"Please Roselia, you do not have to plead with me on the alpha's behalf. I'm a mistress here. I do not even deserve much of your respect." I said to her.

"I know that and I do not need you to remind me of it. I know you to be the daughter of Khalid Ambrosia and as such be treated with respect. Our families are enemies, yes but I cannot explain my loyalty to you and not just yet." She said and I turned around swiftly.

I stared at her puzzled. Why does she owe me any loyalty?

"Come now dear, the alpha will be upset if you do not do as he has said." She said leading me to the storage room I took in deep breaths as I picked up the bucket, brush, soap, and pan.

"I'll fill it up for you." Roselia offered and I declined to shake my head.

"Do not aid me in my punishment. I'm used to doing it alone." I said to her and she sighed and cupped my cheeks and then walked away.

I walked out of the storage room and out of the house to fill the bucket.

While filling the bucket up, I heard footsteps approaching and I looked up to see Lucifer's mistresses approaching including Sia.

I sighed and braced up for the worst. I was about to be taunted and it was going to lead to humiliation.

That was what they could do best. Intimidate me and make me feel less of myself. They keep trying to make me feel miserable not knowing that life itself was doing that already.

I've experienced quite a lot in my father's hands, in my mother's hands, in my two doltish brother's hands, and also in the hands of Lucifer.

What more misery did they think they could make me encounter and will not be able to deal with it? I huffed as they got closer.

"I believe we have a score to settle," Sia said in that loud and irritating voice of hers.

"What score?" I asked her showing no sign of weakness towards her. I will not cower before her as I did with Lucifer. Never! My fellow woman will not berate me nor would I allow her to belittle me without giving her one or two stinging replies.

"I believe that night Lucifer settled it," I said to her and curved a smile when I saw her bitter expression.

I was quite sure Sia would never forget that night in a hurry. The quick turn of events had given her quite a shock she was yet to recover from.

She gave a low and dry sarcastic laugh. "Pardon me little swine but Lucifer used you and I hope you know that." She said to me folding her hands.

"And that's how you deserve to be treated. You deserve to be used all over and all over again." Meridith said backing Sia up.

I rolled my eyes as I turned off the running water. "Do I need to remind you that we are all his mistresses and what he does is use us?" I said staring at them one after the other in disgust.

"But his use of us is much more different vampire. At least he values us and treats you more like a dirtbag." Juliette said smirking

"And a pile of dung!" Sia exclaimed and they all erupted into peals of laughter.

Just hold it in and let them enjoy cracking themselves up, I said mentally to myself.

I picked up the bucket ignoring them. I tried to walk past them but Meridith grabbed my hand pulling me back roughly and I lost my balance as the bucket of water dropped from my hand spilling its contents on the ground.

It took me the sheer will to hold myself together before I fall flat on the ground.

"We were not done talking to you," Meridith said with utmost hatred.

"Who do you even think you are?" Juliette asked.

"Lucifer's favorite or what? Just because he graces your bed more often than ours does not mean he prefers you to us." Sia said with so much viciousness.

I curved a smile. So this was what this was all about. Pure jealousy. Pure jealousy over what I hated. What I would love to change in the whole world if I had the opportunity to. If this was it then two could play this game of hers.

"Well, what can I say? If Lucifer prefers to grace my bed, it only means he cannot get enough of this sexiness." I said to her in spite and loved the horrific look on her face. Not just hers but all of them.

"What did you just say?" Sia asked in anger.

"That this vampire here is quite a hot catch," I said sneering and I received a stinging slap for it.

I was shocked as I felt the impact of her hand on my face. It came so quickly and fast that I could not stop it. It came so unexpectedly as I felt tears burn my eyes.

I swung angry eyes at her. "Watch it, Sia!" I yelled at her as I tried to contain the tears that welled up in my eyes.

"Or what? What can you do?" She jeered.

And once again my beast side tried to surface.

"Oh oh, the vampire is about to spring out, I'm shaking." She mocked. "You can do nothing Ashlyn Ambrosia. Nothing! You're nothing but a weakling!" She spat out in confidence and she was right.

I could do nothing, nothing at all. I just stood there watching her and the rest make ridiculed me and as usual, she retreated. Once again she left me alone to fight all by myself when she knew I could not. When she knew I needed her and she was a part of me. When she knew I could not defend myself without her.

One day, I'll make them all pay and yes I knew that day was far from me.

I was finally left alone by the three troublesome mistresses of Lucifer and I went to attend to the task he assigned for me.

One thing helped me. My swiftness. For once I blessed the devil for not coming up with the idea of me not using my abilities. How would I be done on time?

I beat the rugs and coughed as the dust-choked my throat. When was the last time they cleaned this up? I wondered.

I took out the rugs to have a bit of sun heat away the foul odor.

I went back inside the house and got back to work in scrubbing the floors and the walls and taking off the cobwebs in every corner. For a princess who has not done hard work in her life, I did quite well in the task assigned to me.

From the corner of the stairs, I could see Sia, Meredith, and Juliette jeering and making a mockery of me.

Oh, bloody hell. They could do whatever they want. Make fun of me for eternity just as long as I was not going to be in the bad books of Lucifer.

A realization hit me and then I scoffed. When was I ever in his good books? I was sweaty and hot when I was finally done and I surveyed my work. I smiled in satisfaction. Too bad Lucifer was not around to see that whatever punishments he gave me as tasks I was able to accomplish and pass without incurring his wrath.

"What a job well done!" Roselia exclaimed coming towards me.

I smiled. "Thank you, Roselia. I'll take in the rugs now and head upstairs." I said to her and she nodded with a smile.

I returned with the rugs and placed them in their positions and headed up the stairs to relax in a tub filled with warm water and scrub off every hint of dirt that stuck to my skin and my hair.

I was done with everything that had to do with taking care of myself and I decided to bury my head in one of the books I had found in the room.

I had just come close to finishing the sixth chapter when I heard Lucifer's thunderous voice downstairs and it made my heart fly into my throat.

The door to my room was pushed open and Vino walked in. "You're wanted downstairs." He said with a coldness in his eyes.

I closed the book. What have I done now?

I followed Vino down the stairs and when I got a few feet to where Lucifer stood, I was horrified at what I saw.

The clean sparkling floor that glimmered a few hours ago was replaced with an oily floor with speckles of dirt and dust on it. I've been sabotaged!

And the murderous look that was on Lucifer's face did not help matters. I was perplexed. What would my fate be now?
