Wrong, yet so right

Ripper's POV

She was very stubborn and determined to help Lucifer go through this. No one has ever done this. Not even Celine.

There was a story behind this man struggling with himself here. A story that would not change if he does not accept what good has come for him.

Who would narrate this story to the young lady trying her best to bring him peace? Who would tell her what cursed fate the man she was helping was facing?

Who would bring to her knowledge everything that has her connection to this man?

Not me. I cannot bring myself to do it. I did not even know the whole story. Just the little he had managed to say.

Only his father and mother did and just maybe a trusted servant too. It was not going to be easy subduing this demon in him. Hell! It was hard taming Lucifer himself.

"Let's let them be," I said to all of us watching her calm him down. "Let there be guards to help if he gets aggressive again toward her," I said.

"We need to finish this game and send everyone out immediately." Kill said and I nodded.

Does not matter if Lucifer won or not. They all knew who the superior was.

We walked out leaving the rest of the men there.

"Is she alright?" Roselia asked when we walked out of the secret passageway. I nodded.

"She's resilient," I said to her.

"That will get her killed soon." Kill said in anger.

"I forbid that," Roselia said rejecting Kill's words.

"This is his redemption and we all know it. He just has to see it." She said and I nodded.

"I'm wondering why she cares for a man who has done her wrong countlessly. It beats my imagination." I said.

"Could she be in love?" Rage asked looking lost in thoughts.

"Love?" Kill scoffed. "With everything she's gone through in his hands, she should be hating him." He said and Stealth slapped him on his head and he growled at him.

"Should we not be happy if it's actually what Rage says? Lucifer needs it. He may deny it but he does need it." Stealth said and Roselia nodded thinking deeply.

"What is it, Roselia? Do you want to say something?" I asked her.

"Uh?" She asked raising her head.

"Do you want to say something?" I repeated.

"Not at all. I beg to take my leave." She said and walked away.

"I pray he does not murder her before he gets his freedom from himself." Kill said.

"We all pray so too," I said to him as we went away to give excuses on why the Laird could not participate in the last activities and to quickly hurry them in the Games so they could leave us in peace and not get to know the ugly secrets we hold in the pack house.

Ashlyn's POV

He lay down as I kept stroking his fur. He did not change to his human form but still, I sat beside this hideous monster of his and stroked him.

There were moments when he wanted to turn aggressive and with soft words and a look from Iona's eyes, he'll get calm.

It baffled me that I could have this effect on him while his real self I could not. As I placed my head on his larger ones, my thoughts raced. Was I not treading on a path that would consume me? Was I not overdoing all of these? Why do not I hate him? Why feel this way for him instead?

It felt so wrong yet so right. Was it his chiseled jawline and arrogant smile? Was it the feelings his cruel hands could create in my body that makes me run to him in his trying times?

Did I feel sorry for him and called it love? What was the real definition of love?

Was it not genuine care? Was it not selflessness? Was it not the rapid thunderous beatings of one's heart? Was it not the feeling of wanting to wake up every morning to see that same face that treats you well and treasures you by your side?

If this was the definition of love then my love was incomplete. I was not treated well by this man. He does not even value me but treasures my body. How could I be in love? How?

I kept asking myself as I turned around. My mind was unstable and in turbulence. Only one thing felt right. I wanted to be with him and help him overcome this in any way that I could.

Royal Mile, Edinburgh

Darius POV

Father's empire was collapsing. His Clutch was going against him. I was sure in the coming weeks or months he'd be dethroned. He did not want to face the facts that he was losing everything. He still thought of himself as King of the vampires.

Only his sires could not go against him. They were linked to him and at this point that was what he wanted. To sire more vampires and werewolves and even humans!

Father was ready to go to great lengths to restore his empire but was not bothered by getting his daughter back. His only daughter as of such!

Mother shamed me the more. Here she was parading the streets of Edinburgh as the Queen of the Clutch and hosting grand balls oblivious to the truth of everything collapsing and forgetting that her sweet and innocent daughter was not with her neither was she with a man who'd love her for who she was. She was in the hands of a cruel Lycan who'd subject her to nothing because she was a vampire and could not defend herself.

Joshua and Otis were frolicking around women, hunting prey, and living life to the fullest with no care that their sister was suffering elsewhere. My family annoyed me. They were a total shame to me and we were all living like strangers which were way worst than before.

It was like Ash in her little way had been able to still hold us together as a family.

Recently I've gotten feelings of her wolf being active and when I try to talk to her telepathically that's when she shuts it off. Did she not want to be reached? I wondered. No matter what I face in trying to get my sister, I must save her from the cruel hands of Lucifer Saunron. No matter how long it takes. I vowed.

Ashlyn's POV

Days went by and I was still underground with Lucifer in his beast form. He was yet to change and still yet I did not leave. He'd turn aggressive threatening to bring death upon me, raining hail and brimstones but yet I did not leave. I'd make him calm and he'll fall to the ground grunting at the weakness he was getting from me.

Throughout my days underground with him, I had my bath in the pool of water there and sometimes I would catch him staring at me with blank expressions and sometimes desire. Whenever I see those desired eyes of his I believed Lucifer was still in there somewhere.

Today I wanted to do something different with him. I wanted him out of this darkness and see the light. The radiant sun shone outside.

"Lucifer?" I called him gently and he turned angry eyes at me. I ignored him. "Let's go outside," I said to him. He grunted and looked away.

I took his large paws in my hands dragging him to his feet but he would not budge. I was lucky that his aggressiveness only started at night. If he was beginning to hate the night, I had to show him the wonders of the morning.

He refused to get up. "Do please help me get this annoying man up," I said to the three guards that had stayed with me during his madness.

They shrugged. "I do not think it's a wise thing to do." One of them said.

"He's harmless now I promise you. He's just not yet to shed this fur." I said to them and as I managed to convince them, they reluctantly came and helped me.

Lucifer growled. "Ignore him," I said to them finding myself unafraid of the demonic beast before me. He stood up on his hind legs forcefully and I pulled him towards the exit of the underground, down to the entrance of the secret passageway, down the hall, and down the stairs, everyone was screaming and moving away as fast as they could. Lucifer growled at me wanting to retreat. Angry that they had seen his hideousness. I held his claws tightly not relinquishing my hold.

"Holy Mary," Sia said unable to scream out. I ignored her and pulled Lucifer out of the house. The alphas were all gone already.

I met Ripper, Rage, Stealth, and Kill all outside with other members of the pack. They were all shocked to see me holding Lucifer and bringing him out.

Kill attempted to come close to me and stop what I was doing but Ripper restrained him back with a hand letting me carry on. Lucifer grunted in annoyance and looked away from them.

I led him to the green and open space at the other far side of the house and from a distance, we could see the faint lines of the river.

"Isn't the sky beautiful?" I asked him giggling as I opened my mind to him to communicate with me telepathically.

Then his voice came. "Why bring me out here for the pack to see my hideousness?" He grunted.

I ignored him and ran down the soft green grass heading towards the river. "Catch me if you can!" I yelled at him giggling and he growled.

"I'm not doing that." He said in my head.

"Are you afraid that you cannot catch a vampire?" I taunted him. His eyes flashed and I knew I struck a nerve.

"You're on." He said to me and charged towards me while I ran swiftly.

I laughed when he finally caught me by the river. "Turns out you're not faster than I am." He said.

I smiled as he let me stand by myself.

"Look at the sun Lucifer, isn't it exquisite? Radiating its light on the face of the earth." I said giggling as I looked at the sun.

"You're a vampire, conceived from darkness, why does the sun look lovely to you when it can burn you?" He said staring at the sun. I placed my hand on the side of his large head and sighed as a realization hit me and sink into my heart.

"The sun is just like you Lucifer, despite this side of you and all your cruelty, I find you lovely when you can render me to ashes," I said to him and he stared at me as I raised on my toes and placed a kiss on his nostrils. There was no denying it anymore. I was in love with him. The love I felt was in my heart and my blood ran deep.
