Ill luck

Ashlyn's POV

He was no longer wearing his wedding attire but his usual signature look. Breeches and sleeves unbuttoned to his chest.

"Satisfied your cravings?" He asked me, not in a cold, harsh or sweet way. I could not tell what he was thinking, for he was not portraying any emotions.

I shook my head. "I did not do it. I controlled myself." I said to him.

Anger flashed in his eyes and he quickly masked it. "Good for you." He said rising to his feet and walking past me.

"I'm sorry," I said turning around to his retreating figure. I did not know if he wanted an apology, but to me, he deserved it.

He turned around sharply and this time I could see his emotions. It was anger and he was trying to control it.

"For what?" He asked in pretense.

"For leaving when the wedding was still on hold," I said looking down at my feet. The smell of blood was not gone and I was beginning to wonder where it was from.

"Spare me." He said walking away.

"Lucifer please I'm sorry." I apologized looking up.

He turned around, walked closer to me, and grabbed my shoulders. "Do not bloody hell give me that Ashlyn. Do not!" He said to me, his anger revealing.

He had a right to be angry but why was he this angry? Should he not just hear me out first?

"Lucifer.." I said in a low voice as his grip on my shoulders tightened.

"You were able to control your hunger when you got out of the house but, you could not control it just a little bit to say I do to me, and you expect me to give you a standing ovation?" He questioned in anger.

I stared at him. He was angry that I could not wait to be officially married to him before running out. How could I explain to him that this thirst for blood once triggered was hard to control at first?

"It took over," I said to him.

"And you could not just wait a little longer. Just a little bit, to be mine." He said to me.

"Do I need a wedding to be yours?" I asked him.

"Damn you woman," he said releasing his grip but not his hold on my shoulders. "You know very well what you mean to me." He said to me, his eyes reflecting his pain and hurt.

"And I thought you were as excited as me to get married today, turns out you were not. But then, there's a possibility that you want to punish me for all my wrongdoings." He said and I stared at him in shock and dismay. Why would he even think that?

"I'll never hurt you, Lucifer," I said to him reaching for his face. "Not on purpose," I said and he took my hand from his face.

"But, you did." He said letting go of me and walking away.

I attempted to go after him but stopped. Right now he would not listen to me. He was blinded by his thoughts. I sighed as I stared down at the dress still on my body.

As beautiful as it was, it was supposed to be my lucky charm on this beautiful day, but instead, it was a nightmare.

I walked up the stairs and into my room and the smell of blood was still strong. I swallowed as I took off the dress and discarded it on the bed.

The instant I threw the dress on the bed, I felt less suffocated. Less smell of blood rising to my nostrils.

Was I hallucinating this?

I picked up the dress and sniffed it. My eyes turned red and my canines grew out. I threw the dress far from me.

It was the dress!

But, how? When Roselia brought the dress, I was fine when I donned it. I did not perceive any blood from it. Why did it suddenly have the smell of blood on it?

I reached for the dress checking it for any sign of bloodstains but there were none. I toss the dress aside once more.

What could have made the dress have this smell? How could... Then it hit me hard. Witchcraft.

It sounded crazy, but, with supernatural creatures like us alive, anything was possible.

Witchcraft was forbidden in this part of Scotland but then, how did this happen?

I quickly donned a simple gown and wrapping the dress up, I took it with me to Lucifer's room.

I twisted the knob on his door but it was locked from the inside.

"Lucifer?" I called hitting the door gently. "Please open up." I pleaded with him but no response. I banged on the door harder. "I need to talk to you!" I said raising my voice.

"Lucifer!" I yelled out.

The door opened and he stood in front of me. "Do you not get it that when someone goes silent, he does not want to talk?" He asked me.

I brushed past him walking into the room.

"I did not say you could come in." He said to me.

"I do not need your permission to come into this room." I retorted. He glared at me and closed the door.

"What do you want?" He asked me.

"I want to talk about what happened this evening. Why we could not go on with our wedding." I said to him.

"I do not want to hear it. We've gone over it and the little I know is enough burden and hurt to bear." He said to me going over to the bed.

I walked closer to him pulling him back to refrain him from laying down.

"You'll have to listen to me. I did not just go crazy about the smell of blood and run away." I said to him.

He turned around. "Then you did what? There was no sign of blood anywhere yet you used that as an excuse not to get married to me tonight." He said to me.

"It was not an excuse. I did perceive the strong smell of blood and it was on this dress!" I said raising my wedding dress in front of him.

He stared at me like I have lost it and maybe I have. "You have to believe me," I said to him.

He raised a brow and sniffed the dress. "There's no smell of blood on this dress." He said to me and furrowed his brows at me. He was probably thinking I was taking him as a fool but I was not.

"I'm being honest here, Lucifer. Just yesterday Celine threatened to call off the wedding and then this happened. I put two and two together, and I'm sure she has a hand in this." I said to him.

"Ash?" He asked still narrowing his eyes. "Is that what you've cooked up to make me forgive you?" He asked and I felt hurt at his distrust in me.

"You do not believe me?" I asked him.

"I do believe whatever you say Ashlyn, but not this. Do not blame others for your own mistakes." He said to me.

"I'm not blaming anyone!" I raised my voice almost screaming at him. Why was he not believing me?

"Then what is all this? You claim this dress has the smell of blood on it whereas there's none. Then you say you are suspicious of Celine for what happened today. C'mon Ashlyn," he said raising his hands in exasperation. "You barely know her. She has only been here for two days!" He said to me.

"Is that not enough time to see the signs of a malicious person?" I asked him.

"I've known Celine for a long time." He said to me.

"Is that why you're taking her side?" I asked him lowering my voice.

"I'm not taking her side." He said.

"Then why are you not believing me?" I asked him.

"Cause this sounds very ridiculous!" He said raising his voice.

"You're saying this because you still do care for her!" I fired at him emotions choking my voice.

"I do not..." he began to say as he raised his voice but stopped. "You know what? I'm not having this conversation with you." He said walking away.

"And you can have the room all to yourself." He said as he walked out of the room.

I stumbled back a bit and steadied myself from falling as my throat burned with unshed tears. Why does he not believe me? I kept asking myself.
