Both of them sat at the edge of Yan Qingsi’s bed, Yue Tingfeng asked with a stern face, “Mom, where did you both go last night?”

Mrs. Yue was energetic after catching up on some rest. “We went for a mahjong game. Qingsi helped me to take back my dignity. You didn’t get to see how good she was. She outwitted Zhang Suya and the rest in no time. Tell you what, they lost everything to the extent of them being stripped down to their undergarments at the end of their night. It was hilarious looking at them, I feel so good just thinking about it now.

“Humph, after so many years being oppressed at the games, I finally got to lift my head up high. Son, dear son, you should see how good Qingsi is at the game.”

Yue Tingfeng was speechless. This… mahjong game? Mahjong game for the entire night… Wow… that was unbelievable.

“Mom… I was not home watching out and you both became rebellious? How old do you think you are to have played mahjong for the entire night? She is young but are you? You’ve passed your fifties, why do you still make me worry?”

Listening to Yue Tingfeng ranting out at her, Mrs. Yue pouted her lips. She lowered her head in misery and did not dare to say a word.

Yue Tingfeng gritted his teeth and glanced at Yan Qingsi. “And she… Let’s see how am I going to fix her up when she wakes up later. You were senseless but she should know better. Why did she play along with you.”

Mrs. Yue lifted her head and said, “You cannot tell her off. You… If you want to have a go, then… just pick on me alone. Qingsi was just helping me after witnessing me getting bullied.”

Yue Tingfeng sniggered. “Oh wow, I had just been away for a couple of days and you both have become so close? You’re even taking her blame.”

Mrs. Yue nodded profusely. “Of course. I like her very much. Qingsi is a good lady and she is much better than you. You kept telling me off but she helped me out when I was bullied…”

At the beginning, Yue Tingfeng was rather angry; after listening to his mom, he could not stay angry. Obviously, after the incident, this old lady in the household was completely enamored of Yan Qingsi, more so that her own son.

Yue Tingfeng lifted the corner of his lips and asked simply, “You… Alright, I’m not as good as her. Why not you bring her home as your daughter-in-law?”

Mrs. Yue grunted and tugged his ear suddenly. “How I wish but you have to work hard for it. Did you know how many wicked things have I done for you? And what have you done for yourself?”

Yue Tingfeng was just about to say something when Yan Qingsi woke up.

Mrs. Yue pushed Yue Tingfeng and got to the side of Yan Qingsi. “Qingsi… Qingsi… How are you? Are you hungry? Do you have a headache?”

For a moment, Yan Qingsi did not know where she was. It took her a while to come back to her senses after staring into Mrs. Yue and Yue Tingfeng’s worried faces.

“How are you?”

Mrs. Yue said guiltily, “It’s all my fault. I should not have let you stayed up all night. How are you feeling now?”

Yan Qingsi shook her head. “I’m ok, all good… What time is it now?”

“Two-thirty in the afternoon.”

Yan Qingsi quickly threw the quilt cover off herself. “I’ve got things to do. I need to go now.”

Yue Tingfeng stopped her. “Where are you heading to?”

Yan Qingsi hesitated but did not say a word in front of Mrs. Yue. She replied, “I’ve got some personal matters to handle. You go on and take a rest.”

Yue Tingfeng grabbed her wrist. “I’ll go with you.”
