Mrs. Yue waved him off. “Don’t worry. Do you think your mother’s a fool?”

She sighed after saying that.

“If I knew earlier, I would’ve switched the medicines at Jing City. It’s all because of you and your dull brain that the situation wasn’t made clear.”

Yue Tingfeng rolled his eyes.

He took the calcium supplement and left. An evil grin formed on Yue Tingfeng’s lips.

He thought of switching the pills because if a human’s life was thrown into the spanners, Yan Qingsi would never forgive him. He alone could not appease her.

His mother, however, was a different matter altogether. Yue Tingfeng could see that Yan Qingsi was very fond of his mom, perhaps because she felt the motherly love that she long yearned for and formed a subconscious bond with the old woman.

That was why he dragged his own mother to be an accomplice. Their schemes could be considered a joint enterprise. If the truth did come to light in the future, his mother would be the first in line to take the fall for him.

Considering that she was his mother, he believed that Yan Qingsi would not hold any grudges against the old woman.

Yue Tingfeng took the ‘contraceptive’ and hurried over to Yan Qingsi.

She popped it into her mouth without even looking and drank a sip of water. After swallowing, she smacked her lip and said, “Why does it taste sweet this time?”

Yue Tingfeng simply cooked up an excuse. “Oh, the hospital staff said this is the most effective one to date.”

Yan Qingsi did not take it too seriously, neither did she put too much thought into it.

Yue Tingfeng wiped up his cold sweat surreptitiously.

Yan Qingsi originally thought that she would have half a month before she would be regrouped with the cast and crew of The Scent of Her. To her surprise, she was informed by the director after breakfast that lead actor, Song Qingyan, had an adjustment in his schedule. Therefore, they had to regroup and begin filming, as time was not on their side.

Yan Qingsi needed to leave that afternoon itself.

As she was going, Yue Tingfeng warned yet again, “I’ll think of a way to deal with Ye Shaoguang but before that is done, you cannot confront him without proper thinking done. If you meet him when I’m not with you, avoid him as far as practicable. If you can’t avoid him, call me immediately.”

She nodded. “I’m going to regroup with the cast and crew. Filming’s going to begin. Even if I want to look for him, I don’t have any time.”

“And also, about my mother-in-law, don’t worry too much. I’ll get someone to investigate. Just don’t worry and film your shoots.”

Yan Qingsi moved her lip, intending to retort, but Yue Tingfeng’s handsome face prompted her to shove her words back down.

“Okay!”

“I’ll come to look for you in a few days’ time.”

“Okay.”

“You’re not allowed to get involved with any other men.”

“… I’ll do my best.” Yan Qingsi giggled after seeing his long face. “Be good and wait for me to come back.”

Yan Qingsi might be away on set for an extended period of time. Mrs. Yue prepared lots of facial masks and skincare products for her, as well as reminding her to have her proper meals. Mrs. Yue would come to check on her in the next couple of days.

Before leaving, Yan Qingsi gave Mrs. Yue a hug.

Once Yan Qingsi left, Yue Tingfeng pulled Mrs. Yue to one side and said, “Ma, I need to talk to you about something.”

Mrs. Yue was busy scrolling on her phone, looking at Yan Qingsi’s Weibo. She casually asked, “What’s up?”

Yue Tingfeng asked, “Ma… you seem to be in a good mood lately?”

Mrs. Yue looked up from her phone with glimmering eyes. “Yes, it’s been superb. Did you know, after Yan Qingsi helped me win the other day, no one else dared to play dumb with me, especially those three horrible old ladies? They just walk away when they see me. This is the first time I’m enjoying my life in so many years.”

Yue Tingfeng nodded. “That’s good then. During my last business trip, my father came and told me he wanted to come home!”

Almost immediately, Mrs. Yue’s face turned cold. “Sure, as long as he turns to ash, he can come back anytime he wants!”
