Helan Fangnian found Yue Tingfeng. “There’s nothing for you at this dinner. You better take Auntie and leave.”
Yue Tingfeng swirled the champagne flute he held. “Didn’t you ask us to come?” he said. “Why should I leave when I’m already here?”
Helan Fangnian grew more anxious. “You… Tingfeng, take them and leave. There’s no need for you to be in this sort of dinner, anyway.”
Helan Fangnian did not know what his mother was plotting. He could not say anything even if he knew.
It did not matter how his mother turned out—she was his mother.
His mother could do whatever she pleased, but he still needed to help her to keep everything a secret.
Yue Tingfeng stared into Helan Fangnian’s eyes. “You’re so eager to shoo me away. Don’t tell me… something’s going to happen tonight?”

He put the champagne flute down and walked towards Yan Qingsi and Mrs. Yue.
If he thought about it from Helan Fangnian’s perspective, something fishy was definitely going to happen at this dinner. Maybe it was something specially directed towards them. However, since they were already here, prepared to wreck this dinner, they could not let this opportunity go to waste!
Mrs. Yue pointed at a necklace embedded with 108 emerald stones on the auction list. “Do you like it?” she asked Yan Qingsi. “I think it looks good. I’ll bid it for you…”
Yan Qingsi smiled. “Auntie, this will look good on you,” she said.

The smile on Mrs. Yue’s face immediately retracted into something more subdued, demure. She straightened her posture. “It has been two years since we last met. I’m doing very well. Thank you for asking.”
“And your son is truly one of the most outstanding characters among Luo city’s youths today. No one among the sons and grandsons in my family can hope to compete with him.”

Mrs. Yue turned her head towards Mr. Ye. “I’m sorry, Mr. Ye,” she said. “My son is so rebellious and he doesn’t know anything. I’ll give him a proper scolding at home. He has no control over his tongue. Clearly, he doesn’t know that he can’t speak of the truth when he’s outside.”
