The begining of the end of her enemy

What he said made all the people inside the conference room to looked at him incredulously with mouths agape, except for Shegz who was standing with his usual expressionless and stony face

"What happened to you man? Where the fuck did my brother go to? This idiotic man right here is not my brother" Lekan said the last part with a sharp slap at the back of Tunde's head

"What the fuck! Stop messing around fool! Why are you here anyway, thought you prefer the noisy atmosphere of your clubs to working here?"

"Yeah, working here is boring and you know I love a lively atmosphere. Weekdays are always boring at the club so here I am looking for company.

"I actually informed him about it... Boss is just hopelessly in love that's why" Ibrahim said with a laugh

"One more word out of your loose mouth without my permission and I'm hanging your ass upside down in my office. You know those hooks are not for hanging coats right?"

"Sorry boss" Ibrahim quickly said, the smile on his face immediately disappeared

"You have hooks that can hang people upside down in your office?" Josh asked with fear written on his face?

"Yep...and many more. Would you like Shegz to give you a tour?" Tunde joked

"I bet he would be happy to, don't know why he hates me so much anyways" Josh retorted with a sour face and they all laughed seeing the look on his face.

"Relax man, Shegz is not a threat to you, if you're not a threat to me alright? Just ignore him." Tunde assured Josh

"Pft! yeah right"

"So Abby told me what happened to her four years ago..." Tunde said, suddenly changing the topic

"She did?...well I'm glad she was able to talk about it. Do you now understand why I came to see you, why I had to protect her?"

"What happened to her?" Mide asked

"Her best friend set her up with her older cousin to be raped, and when the bastard couldn't manage to get it up maybe because he was drunk, he beat her to an inch of her life."

Josh then opened a hidden file on his phone to show them a picture of a frail and battered Abby on the hospital bed covered with bandages and amidst tubes.

"What the hell!"

"Oh, for fucks sake, who's the devil that did this to her!? She looks so young" Exclaimed Mide and Lekan when they saw how badly she was beaten.

Her lips and both her eyes were swollen shut. One part of her head was shaved and plastered, a baton bandage was wrapped around her head and jaw and tubes and drips were all over her body

"She was just sixteen..." Tunde said, his eyes were set in a grim expression after staring so long at the picture. He was so angry he could kill right then but he remains calm. It was only those close to him that were familiar with that calmness.

They knew whenever he was frightfully calm like that, a storm was raging inside him, and he was barely holding his rage together. They call it his calm before the storm phase. They also know he would still vent his anger, but how or on who is he going to vent his anger? they wondered

"Who was the bastard?" Tunde asked Josh

"Jaye Jamal"

"J.J... The ex-commissioner of police son?" Aaliyah spoke up for the first time since her boss entered the room

"Yes, you know him?" Josh asked

"Hmph! Heard of him and his sexual escapades through some grapevines. A typical rich, brainless criminal, riding on daddy's coattails. He's very sick too...and I don't mean the flu kind of sick. Man's sick in the head. He uses and abuses women at will, none of his victims has spoken up yet, guess maybe cos they are afraid of his father"

"I don't want to believe you guys didn't attempt to get him prosecuted?" Tunde asked towards Josh

"We did, but there was no enough evidence to prosecute."

"Not enough evidence? According to what Abby told me, people were there..." Tunde raised his voice and his calm facade cracked revealing a hint of his anger

"It took us two days to find her when she went missing, and by that time all evidence had been destroyed. She was dumped in front of a hospital far away from home on the mainland.

We had to go on social media before we were able to quickly locate her and it's all thanks to her friend Dupe, I didn't know if you know her, they are quite close now..."

"Dupe... Your ex?"

"Yeah, they were both doing an internship at a fashion house and was the one that saw her last. She was able to describe what she was wearing in detail."

"When we went to the hospital she was still unconscious. She became conscious after a week and couldn't even say what happened to her immediately. Her jaw was dislocated. When the baton bandage holding her jaw was eventually removed, and she could explain what happened, it was already late."

"The friend that set her up denied seeing her, claimed she never had any party on that day. Their lawyer contacted our lawyer and said a lot of bull shit, saying Jaye was not in Lagos on the said day and there was neither text nor call history between them.

Indeed when we retrieved her sim card, all their call and text history had been erased, we couldn't even retrieve them. We also contacted some of the people that Abby said were at the party, they all denied there was ever a party.

He is the son of the commissioner of police so the investigation was handled with little effort. Our lawyer advised we drop the case because going forward with little or no evidence might traumatize her more than she already was if she was called a liar and accused of setting up an innocent man because of money.

Tunde suddenly got up and stormed out of the conference room closely followed by Ibrahim and Shegz. He jogged up the stairs to the fifteenth floor and briskly walked inside his office.

He opened a door that led into another large room that he used for resting whenever he's working late. The room contains a single bed, a small wall closet and hanging from a heavy bag ceiling mount was a red and black punching bag with two pairs of matching gloves.

After changing into a gym outfit, Shegz who had followed Tunde into the room helped him put on his gloves then watched while his boss kept on punching the bag with frustration. Still not satisfied, he ordered Shegz...

"Put on your gloves"

This was exactly why Ibrahim was not quick to enter the room with his boss cos he knew Tunde was never going to be satisfied with punching just the bag alone. He would need someone to spar with and who better than Shegs was built to withstand the Hawks punches.

He moved forward to help Shegz with his gloves and stood aside while the bodyguard and boss sparred with each other

"Don't hold back your punches Shegz cos I'm not gonna..." Of course, Shegs was not holding back his punches. He might be the bodyguard and built like a mountain, but all of them knew who the better man was at hand-to-hand combat. Tunde was lighter, agile, and faster and his punches pack a mean strength you won't know it possesses until you feel the impact

"Is that the best you've got? My grandma hit harder than this, don't be a pussy Shegz..." Tunde went on and on throwing occasional taunting jabs at Shegz to make him move faster and hit harder.

Even though Shegz was always happy whenever he was presented with the opportunity to spar with his boss, he was always glad when the session comes to an end and this particular one ended after thirty minutes. When it ended, both men were breathing hard

"Good job man" Tunde came over to Shegs and patted his back where he was squatted on the floor. He removed his gloves and accepted the bottled water offered by Ibrahim, taking a drink as he walked back into his office where the twins, Aaliyah and Josh were already waiting for him.

"Feeling better?" Lekan asked when Tunde came into his office

"Yeah..." he replied and said to Aaliyah

"Aaliyah I want you to find out about this bastard's schedule and habits... And I also want to know every dirty detail about him no matter how little. You have a week."

"Yes, boss," Aaliyah said and went back to the conference room where she was stationed for the main time.

"Why don't we just grab and kill him off? It will be a minus to the number of scumbags in the world" Ibrahim asked

"Don't be too much in haste. Death would be too merciful for his kind. Watch and learn"
